On May 1, Forever 21 will launch a plus-size clothing line called Faith 21 in select stores and online, reports the Los Angeles Times. Faith 21 will offer tops, jeans, tanks, leggings and skirts in a junior plus size as well as XL, 1X and 2X.
I think this is exciting news considering the most common complaint I've heard about the fast-fashion chain (besides quality and blatant knockoffs) is the lack of adequate sizes. Just the other day, a reader made the following comment: "I love F21 just as much as the next budget conscious girl, but their sizes are so far from womanly it's ridiculous. I have a classic hourglass figure at a healthy weight for my height and their sizes barely even get over my head. What's a girl to do!?!?" —Katie

And I'm also happy that you keep us posted on whats going on with Forever21. I know other readers feel as if though its too much about forever 21, but I disagree. Forever 21 is a huge force in the budget fashion world and therefore news pertaining to them is very pertinent. Especially when there are stories to break! Like this, or about the swim suits. Me and my friends were hugely excited about the bathing suits, and if you hadn't told us we wouldn't have known to go and find them before they sold out. So thank you for keeping us up to date!
If you ever doubt the relevance of keeping up on the Forever 21 news, just go walk around downtown chicago- you can't go two inches without seeing someone carrying around a bright yellow bag!
Oh, and I think the blog is really well rounded anyway! (I'd say target gets just as much press!) Keep up the good work!
Now, if only they started making short sizes...
I won't be shopping at F21 "plus size" selection, I'll just take my money somewhere else.
And those models look gooood.
CollegeCandy.com is muy excited about this!
Forever 21's sizing is bunk though. I'm two sizes smaller than normal in their skinny jeans and yet sometimes I can't pull on a "medium" skirt. What gives?
Seriously, think before you post something that makes you look mean and ignorant.
At the Mall of America we have people of all sizes coming in and asking for their sizes and I hate having to tell them that we don't carry an XL or a bigger size in jeans than a 30. You will be able to see what stores are carrying the Faith 21 line online at their website forever21.com. It will be carried at most large stores, just ask your assosciates or the managers. They should know if they are getting the line.
And to #20 kara, sweetie. A store should make a variety of sizes for everyone. Yes, Forever 21 does make a lot of money but that doesn't mean we are all about that. We truly want the average girl/woman to be able to be FASHIONABLE. Fashion is key at Forever 21 as all of you should know, so it's not all about making money. It's about setting a trend for others to follow. It's that what fashion's about?
Anyways. Have a good day ladies. I'm truly excited for this line to come out as my mom will love it and so will every customer... hopefully.
Thanks.
I can understand something like Nina Ricci running small to fit "designer" model bodies but not a cheap chain store like F21 that swarms this, frankly "large," nation.
And there is no denying, again, that there is serious size consistency problems at the store. That's probably the worst problem of all.
The XL is a 11/12 the 1X is a 13/14 and the 2X is 15/16. That is great for the people that will work for, but realistically that is where most clothes go up to everywhere. SOOO disappointed
I have a 41" waist and wear a 20/22.
The places I shop for trendy affordable clothes are: (in order by my favorite)
curvygirlclothing.com
sizeappeal.com
bandlu.com
Curvy Girl and BandLu put measurement charts on their items so you know what u are buying as all 3 companies carry a junior plus cut. Cheaper than other plus size companies and a lot trendier!
As has been established, F21's sizes are a bit confused. You can be a medium at any other store and go into F21 and suddenly become and XL.
This is where the problem begins.
It's good that F21 is launching a "plus size" clothing line. But, um, it's not really plus sized. It's large. Not overly large, just on
the higher end of the clothing size chart.
The solution should be an accurate sizing chart with no "plus size." Those who are XS should be able to find XS, and those who are XL should be able to find XL.
I see the side of smaller people happy that F21 offers their sizes, it's easy for them. I also see the side of larger gals being frusterated they cant find a dang large.
But why should the larger girls be the ones to be singled out? The special "plus size" section? It doesnt make sense to me. Why isn't there a
"Super skinny girl" line? BECAUSE society has based 'normal' size to be small. And that is wrong. Should a 5'9 girl, not fat at all, be restricted to plus size because she's not got the body of a 5'1 girl? No! And vice versa.
I think the solution would be to have all sizes
without having to make a "plus size" line.
