Cosmetics Giveaway: Did You Partake?

The massive cosmetics giveaway that began January 20 ends today (sincere apologies for not posting a heads-up about this, it's been a busy week!). In case you were unaware, as part of a class action settlement, $175 million worth of free cosmetics products were distributed on a first come, first serve basis at several major department stores nationwide.

Did anyone take advantage of this free makeup giveaway? What did you score? Make me proud (and jealous), ladies!

I just heard about this today! Do you think there's anything left???

Not a chance theres any left, i heard it was a mad house!
I personally didn't get a chance to go and get anything ( I was sick that day) but because I was sick my boyfriend (who works downtown) went to every department store after work and got me one thing at every store, so I managed to score 7 different products! I was so excited! My fave has to be the Clinique Moisture Surge and the Clarins Beauty Flash facial!!!

I stopped by Macy's yesterday to ask if they had any product left and the lady at the makeup counter very curtly (and somewhat rudely) informed me that the giveaway was Tuesday only. Pretty much reminded me why I shop almost 100% online.

You'd think people would get their facts straight if they're going to be rude like that!

It started Tuesday and lasts until the products run out. I work in NYC and the Macy's here has had a line out the door and around the building Tue, Wed, AND Thurs night!

Read about it on The Recessionista Blog on 1/20 & got some Clinique Moisture Surge . The goodies are all gone at most places. Some people double-dipped! Lines were not bad at all.

My mom went Tuesday and yesterday and both days got items (Estee Lauder & Clinique)... depends on the locations but some still have items!

I went Tuesday and got some Lancome mascara! I was going to go again, but then I figured that wouldn't be fair to those who hadn't gotten anything yet.

I went and the line wasn't that bad. I got the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. My mom went today and said they only has the Cllinique Moisture Surge left. A lot of people didn't know about it here in Jacksonville.

I heard about it on nitrolicious.com a week back so I was definitely prepared. I was down in San Diego's Fashion Valley Mall where it held a Macy's, Nordstroms, Saks, Neimens, and Bloomindales. Women were out there early because by 11:30am the bottles of J'Adore and Very Irresistible were completely out. Most of the women I encountered didn't know what was going on but got in line anyway. All of the stores had signs up about the lawsuit and what they were giving away. They didn't care whether you were at another store and recieved something or not. So basically everyone went to every store. I scored myself the Coco Madamoiselle lotion, Lancome stuff, and Estee Lauder.

The Macy's I work at ran out on Wednesday evening.

I, unfortunately, did not get anything since Macy's employees were not allowed to get anything at Macy's. The last thing I want to do at the end of a long day is go to another department store. lol

Yeah, I love you and all but I am pretty pissed you didn't post this earlier.

To be fair to thebudgetbabe, who works super hard to keep us up-to-date on deals, this has been publicized heavily for the past 2-3 months. It's been all over the local news and every fashion website I've been to.

I saw a crazy line for Macy's when I went to the mall a few days ago. That was at 2 pm. When I left the mall 4 hours later the line was still as long! I didn't learn about the free giveaway until earlier today, but I don't want to wait(though I have heard that the line passes quickly), and especially now supplies are more than likely gone

I was going to go to the Macys near me and try to score some Cllinique, but decided against it since I had such a busy day Tuesday. I wish I would have gone though.

I read about the giveaway on AOL News, of all places, before it started, but assumed department stores would be a madhouse. Plus, I'd like to know what this class action settlement is about before I would take advantage of freebies like these. Does anyone know what the settlement is ... errr ... settling?

I remember reading about it ages ago, so I don't remember the details exactly. But it had something to do with the cosmetic companies marking up the price of their products to a ridiculous level.

I stopped by Dillard's today to get some perfume and got some estee lauder night repair cream :-)!

I went and got my free stuff from Macy's months ago, because Nordstrom, Nieman Marcus, etc., all ran out like on day one. When I went to Macy's, they had the giveaway table all the way in the back of the store, behind the cheap shoes' customer svc desk. No sign, no "hello," I went to ask about it, and they said "over there," so over there I went. I got a great clinique facial cream and stuff, but then the cosmetics predator behind the table starts yapping about how they're "losing money," because people are "only picking up the free stuff and not buying anything, and we're going broke." I promptly told her that they were "PREPAID, when we OVERPAID," and they still made out because the samples were shipped directly from the companies sued in specially marked containers, (Like a sample) and Macy's didn't have to pay for it.) Then, I started texting every cheap/go anywhere for a deal, majorly entitled female friend I had; plus their mothers, and told em that Macy's still had stuff.
