You know it was only a matter of hours before someone would knock off the most talked about gowns from Sunday's Oscars...and here they are! Available from dress line Faviana for a fraction of the original cost, the 2009 Academy Award dresses worn by actresses Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, Sarah Jessica Parker and Viola Davis are all available for pre-order at Unique Vintage (
www.Unique-Vintage.com).

Some look costume-y and fail miserably to capture the beauty of the original creations, such as the knock-off version of the stunning Dior Haute Couture gown worn by
Sarah Jessica Parker (who was one of the best dressed ladies of the night, in my opinion. Hello, cleavage!)

Others, like the copy of
Angelina Jolie's simple black sweetheart neckline gown do a pretty good job of replicating the original—but am I that desperate to look like Angelina? Um, no. Nor am I willing to spend $258 on a pre-order dress that I haven't tried on or seen in person. However, prom season is coming up and I'm sure certain ladies will be happy to have these options available.
Natalie Portman looked radiant in her strapless pink number by Rodarte. The color is what sold me, sadly the color of the knockoff is all wrong. But they did a nice job with the silhouette.
Viola Davis shone in a bombshell Reem Acra gown. She looked so happy, and her smile was her best accessory. However, I'm not loving the knock-off, the gold tone looks cheap. Sorry.
While we're on the subject, here's a quick breakdown of my best dressed Oscar night attendees (in no particular order):
- Kate Winslet looked stunning in YSL, and while I didn't see The Reader, I'm sure her Oscar for Best Actress was well-deserved!
- Anne Hathaway was sublime and statuesque in her paillette bedecked Armani Prive with Cartier jewels.
- Taraji P. Henson looked sultry yet sweet in her cream Cavalli masterpiece.
- Freida Pinto looked absolutely beautiful in an jewel-toned blue gown by John Galliano.
- Tina Fey looked smokin' hot in her v-neck silver Zac Posen. You go girl!
- Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab with Lorraine Schwartz jewels looked boring but beautiful.
Honorable mentions...
- Marissa Tomei in a fan/pleated Versace gown, Penelope Cruz in vintage Balmain, and Evan Rachel Wood in her champagne Elie Saab all looked beautiful in their light-toned gowns, which were really popular this year.
- Jennifer Aniston was glowing in Valentino, loved her skin, hair (I loved that little braid!), and her gown.
- Miley Cyrus looked darn cute in a sparkly Zuhair Murad gown! Very Glinda the Good Witch (anyone seen Wicked?).
Overall I felt this year's Academy Awards had, by far, more winners than losers on the red carpet, however, if I had to single out some of the "worst dressed" ladies of the evening, it would have to be...
- Beyonce, who wore her own label, House of Dereon. Such a beautiful girl, such an awful dress!
- Meryl Streep in custom Alberta Ferretti looked drab and washed out. Perhaps she looked lovely in person, but the color of her dress did nothing for her complexion on camera.
- Heidi Klum did red all wrong. Amanda Seyfried, on the other hand, looked fabulous in her red dress with an oversized bow.
See what I mean? Lots more hits than misses this year. So what did you think of the Oscar fashions this year, and would you wear a budget-inpsired gown?

Too bad about Nat's knock-off, I too was enamored with that colour. And her tan!
