You know it was only a matter of hours before someone would knock off the most talked about gowns from Sunday's Oscars...and here they are! Available from dress line Faviana for a fraction of the original cost, the 2009 Academy Award dresses worn by actresses Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, Sarah Jessica Parker and Viola Davis are all available for pre-order at Unique Vintage (www.Unique-Vintage.com).
Some look costume-y and fail miserably to capture the beauty of the original creations, such as the knock-off version of the stunning Dior Haute Couture gown worn by Sarah Jessica Parker (who was one of the best dressed ladies of the night, in my opinion. Hello, cleavage!)
Others, like the copy of Angelina Jolie's simple black sweetheart neckline gown do a pretty good job of replicating the original—but am I that desperate to look like Angelina? Um, no. Nor am I willing to spend $258 on a pre-order dress that I haven't tried on or seen in person. However, prom season is coming up and I'm sure certain ladies will be happy to have these options available.
Natalie Portman looked radiant in her strapless pink number by Rodarte. The color is what sold me, sadly the color of the knockoff is all wrong. But they did a nice job with the silhouette.
Viola Davis shone in a bombshell Reem Acra gown. She looked so happy, and her smile was her best accessory. However, I'm not loving the knock-off, the gold tone looks cheap. Sorry.
While we're on the subject, here's a quick breakdown of my best dressed Oscar night attendees (in no particular order):
