Off the Rack: F21 Swimwear, Plus Twelve by Twelve Bollywood Collection

Forever 21 swimwear

Last week we posted about the launch of Forever 21's new swimwear collection, and this week our Chicago-based budget-shopping correspondent (aka my sister) headed to the mall to check it out. She snapped a few photos with her cell phone, so the quality of the images isn't great, BUT she reports that the quality of the actual bathing suits is stellar! Lots of fun, feisty prints and amazing prices (most pieces are under $20), she reports.

In addition to the new swim suits, my sis also said she saw what appeared to be a limited-edition Bollywood Collection from Twelve by Twelve (Forever 21's luxe line). No doubt riding on the success of the Academy-award winning film Slumdog Millionaire, the new Bollywood fashion line features casual day dresses in sari-inspired fabrics, and a rich, jewel-tone color palette of brilliant blues, oranges, and reds. While my sister wasn't able to photograph the Bollywood clothing, she took a photo of the clothing tag as evidence (below).

I love F21 just as much as the next budget conscious girl, but their sizes are so far from womanly it's ridiculous. I have a classic hourglass figure at a healthy weight for my height and their sizes barely even get over my head. What's a girl to do!?!?

That's my issue, too. I have a figure very similar to Kim Kardashian, and I don't fit into anything at F21. Tops are way too tight and fitted, and pants? lol. Definitely not cut for me.

Great to hear they're of good quality, however I wish stores would offer more alternatives to skimpy string bikinis. Sometimes I'd like to be able to wear a swimsuit that I could actually swim in without fear of wardrobe malfunctions, or of exposing my flabby abs to the world.

Once again, the retarded version of F21 up here in Canada doesn't get the swimwear, nor Twelve by Twelve :-(

I swear, comparing the Canada site to the American one, it's obvious your northerly neighbours get all of F21's surplus that no one wants. And when there is a nice dress that pops up, it sells out WITHIN AN HOUR. I kid you not!

wanderlusting is totally right - its soooo annoying that we do not get the same stock as the us. and it does sell out instantly! it also annoys me that they show items in the promos (such as the shop by outfit) and you cannot even find the items on the site!!!! agh!

Thank you for posting the suits!

Oooh I can't wait to add that tie-dye bikini to my collection!

F21 isn't really for women--it's a junior's line, n'est-ce pas?

The only reason I can fit it is because I am relatively thin with undefined curves.

Yes, well, some of us didn't fit into it when we were juniors, either, because the sizes are laughably limited. Except that it wasn't funny. :-(

I love the blog, BB - You know I do, but I'm starting to think it should be called "The Forever 21 Babe" instead of "The Budget Babe"! It seems like every other post is about F21 or featuring items from F21. I'm sure you try hard to keep it relatively well-rounded (and I know they feature a ridiculous amount of designer knock-offs), but maybe you could broaden the budget horizon a bit more for those of us who haven't been seduced? :-)
