I'll be the first to admit: The Budget Babe loves trends, and it's usually a big fashion-trend love fest on this here blog. Trends keep things interesting, after all! But today I'm opening up the discussion to let you vent about the trends you absolutely, positively can not stand to see one more day. Is it jumpsuits? Leggings? Gladiators? Maybe it's skinny jeans or stone washed jeans or ripped jeans? One-shoulder frocks? Floor-length maxis? Super short minis? All of the above? Let's here it: Which trends do you like the least?

i try to view most trends with an open mind (if not embrace them wholeheartedly), but the ones i can't really get behind are super short minis (the ladybits don't need to see or be seen, thank you), sky high heels/a lack of pretty AND practical everyday shoes (but that is possibly only because i am clumsy as hell and am, frankly, jealous of those that can wear them), ripped premium denim (i don't see why you'd pay so much money to get a torn product...), HAREM PANTS (please please just...no), that pegged-jean trend katie holmes started... seriously, does that woman have something against jeans? i swear i just saw a photo of her in baggy denim bermudas. over tights. NO.
in short... i can apparently be very hostile. oops.
am i the first again, BB? i swear, i must seem very sad to you, commenting in the wee hours of the morning like this
oh and those acid washed jeans..lets keep those in the horrid memories of the 80s Poison time and not bring it back whatsoever
Actually, I hate generally all of the 80's resurgence. I admit I wasn't around yet in the 80's and maybe if I was I would like the trend better, but I don't. The destroyed bleached and stonewashed jeans especially.
The one thing I don't mind is all the bright colors and neon. I love color and it is so nice to see some bright colors about in clothing.

as for trends, i generally love them because it's fun to mix things up. however, i do have a few peeves:
1. When the trend is no longer trendy, please refrain from wearing it.
2. I was definitely going to mention the acid washed jeans even before i read neira's comment.
3. I'm not really sure why, but i detest jumpsuits. no valid reason why, i just do.
4. DO NOT mix too many trens at once unless you prefer looking like a shipwreck.
High stripper heels, you know, like the YSL Tributes. Victoria Beckham wearing them didn't class them up. They just don't translate well into real life, and honestly, I'm sure strippers were sporting identical shoes for their performances way before Victoria did. Yeah, they are pretty pieces of art, but I think my boss would tell me to change my footwear immediately if I went to work in any of them.
2. zebra stripes have to go!
Also those over-priced, over hyped headbands that lay across the forehead. They look terrible.
and i must defend mini skirts here. they make your legs look a mile long, love them!
Silly headbands (worn across the forehead)
Jumpsuits - both shorts and long pants
Harem pants
Ugly severe pointed shoulder pads
Visible underwear
Uuuuugh!!
As in headband, necklace, bracelets, huge hoop earrings, belt, skinny jeans, all at once.. way too much to look at!
Too much skin, so mini skirts also.. I don't mind some leg, but way too short is too much:)
As for shoes, I can only hope that Crocs don't make some kind of ironic, trendy re-appearance one day.

All in all, fashion is about what looks and feels good to you - so focus on what gives you confidence. It's definitely not "one size fits all."

However, all of a sudden, places like wet seal and Deb took over the graphic tee craze and started making cheap, awful looking ones that read things like " I CAN'T REMEMBER LAST NIGHT" and " YOUR BOYFRIEND THINKS I'M HOT".
Girls pair this with some God awful shiny yellow, or hot pink pumps and skinny jeans and a chain belt and make me want to puke.

I'd also include jumpsuits, screen print tees, designer statement bags (Coach, D&B, Vuitton, etc.), fringe anything, and boyfriend jeans a la Katie Holmes.

I’m usually open to most fashion trends though, and have a site devoted entirely on how to make them wearable in everyday life. I encourage people to be trendier than they’d initially prefer and like a coconut, they end up loving a particular trend after knowing HOW to wear it. Keep your trend reporting alive! You do a sterling job :0)
Apparently I don't have much love for many trends...
Just a thought...

jumpsuits: they're like onsies for grownups, didn't we all already grow up anyways?
Harem Pants: Baggy or tight, choose one.
Maxi Dresses: Honestly, even though many people like them, they seem awfully frumpy to me.
I love love love, one shoulder dresses, classy minis, and leggings - when i work out.
thanks for making these posts!
Harem pants should stay in the 80's..in MC Hammer's closet. You have to be extremely thin to carry these off.
All the extra fabric in all the wrong places..
I'm gonna defend two trends here: Maxi dresses and cage heels. I have a gorgeous maxi dress that I should wear on my blog soon - from F21 no less, and it's very flattering on me and I believe it can look flatering on others too so as long as it's sleek fabric and not a dowdy print.
Cage heels - well, define cage. I love gladiators and gladiator heels, I think they are sexy and exotic.
I just hate trends in general because everyone just follows the fashion flock and wears whatever the mags tell them, regardless of whether it looks good on them or not. But I must say, NO ONE in this thread seems like that. YAY US!
(and yeah, abhor jumpsuits, harem pants, cutesy graphic teas, leggings under jean skirts, black shoes with pale denim (UGH), big shoulders, ripped jeans, acid wash jeans etc)
I suppose I must follow suit in saying HAREM PANTS. they are revolting, I mean really people M.C. Hammer wore them and look where he is now? correlation? I think so. Then there is this crazy acid wash/stone wash/neon skinny jean thing going around and its like the 80s and 90s got together and BOOM instant ugly. Plus, I know I may not have my own design house or anything but I know for a FACT that shoulder pads are not okay. They were laid to rest with the gold button double breasted wool suit rage, and it is NOT okay to exhume them. Jumpsuits/ Rompers especially weird jean type ones are not a far cry from osh kosh bgosh overalls and we all know not to touch those with a ten foot pole. And crocs please... i shall refrain from using course language to explain my feelings about them. thats all. thanks BB for a great blog
Oh, and leggings (especially cropped) are just horrid.
