Off the Rack: Spring Fashion at Walmart

Basic tees get a fashionable jolt with photo-realistic sea creature designs. And isn't that neon green just yummy?

The other day I "discovered" a new-to-me Walmart store in my area which carries—get this—both the Norma Kamali for Walmart collection and To the Max! I was ridiculously excited, in part because when the Kamali collection first launched, I called just about every Walmart within a 25 mile radius of my house and was told by store managers that they didn't carry the line nor would they be carrying it in the future. Well, guess they were wrong! Anyways, if you live near a Walmart that carries these two lines, they are definitely worth checking out. I try to avoid impulse buys (operative word is "try"), so on this visit I just scoped out the new spring stuff, then I picked up a couple pieces from the To the Max line on clearance, including a very artsy ombre sweaterdress, for just $7 a piece. Here are some pics I snapped off the racks to give you a feel for what's in store. Anything catching your eye?

I'm pretty sure I've seen Rumi rocking these jeans on Fashion Toast. If you can pull off the acid-wash/bleached denim look, these jeans cost next to nothing and look just like the couture denim on the runways!

This army-green draped dress is so unbelievably fabulous and designer-looking and cheap! I need it. Pick this up for your summer vacations, ladies! Five stars all the way.

Here's another eye-catching top for days when basic black feels boring. The cranes are so happy-looking, too.

Awesome safari shirts for the urban jungle. I was impressed by the quality and cut.

Mix and match these cargo shorts with the safari shirts for effortless summer style. These photos don't do them justice!

From soft t-shirt dresses to lightweight cardigans, the Norma Kamali spring collection presented everything you'd need to construct a casual yet stylish warm-weather wardrobe.

To the Max offers great office wear for budget conscious gals, including two-piece suits for under $50, total! Wow.

Both the Norma Kamali line and To the Max line offer coordinating sweatsuits that are actually quite tasteful and the fabric felt so cozy. Lounge in style for about $30 a set.

Please don't run these posts on Walmart. Walmart is completely unethical in terms of business practices and is anti-Union/anti-worker. If you need cheap clothing, head to a Goodwill or other consignment shop.

Wal-Mart is no more unethical than Forever21 or any other mass manufacturing company.

BB, what area do you live in? I haven't seen any Wally Worlds in LA except in the ghetto, and hate buying stuff from them online b/c I'm never sure about fit or quality...

Watch "WAL-MART: The High Cost of Low Price." You'll never shop there again. I know that you don't like the effects that come from buying knock-off purses, and unfortunately, Wal-Mart has a lot of similar repercussions.

Aw geez, here come the self-righteous WalMart is teh evil posts.

WM is no more evil than any other mass marketer. Employees don't have to work there if they don't like it and WM is hardly the only store that carries stuff made in China. Why single it out?

If you'll excuse me, I'll put on my fur coat, hop into my SUV, buy a nice fatty steakburger on the way, and stop into WM for some new clothes and some ammo.

I have those tees! I have them in the sea shell design, did you see them? These shirts are such good quality, and so comfy! Plus it's 100% organic cotton, can't go wrong with that :-)
