Recently I was asked to review some products by a line known as Smart Girls Who Surf. Smart Girls Who Surf makes products that relate primarily to protection from the damaging rays of the sun, in addition to some soaps and other cute accessories. I am a smart girl but I don't surf, so how could these products apply to me? Well, for starters this company gets top marks right off the bat for being into protecting our planet, its waters and its people by making products that aren't full of icky chemicals. Some are even organic (major points there). The truth of the matter is that these products are awesome for any smart girl who finds herself doing anything in the sun. The products are fantastic, and I really am hooked on them.

In order to properly test these products out myself I took the Smart Girls Who Surf Grab-N-Go Kit ($24.99) on vacation with me diamond prospecting (yes, you read correctly—I spent one week in the middle of Arkansas in a 115 degree volcanic crater digging for diamonds—its hard work, and my boyfriend almost left me a few times, but I loved every second of it!). (continued below)

This kit includes: SPF 30+ Sunblock, After Sun Soothing Lotion, Care for Hair Sun Protector, one natural glycerin Soap for Surfers, one SPF all natural lip balm (mine was cherry) and a black comb. If you ever want to put a product to the ultimate test, a diamond mine is the place to go: Blazing hot sun, water for the wet-sifting, and lots and lots of nature (read: bugs and mud). Not exactly surfing in Maui, but I had the right ingredients for a good review (sun, water, dirt, bugs).

I also took with me a Surf-Vival Organic Facestick SPF 30+ ($12.99) and a tube of FanSea Face SPF 20 Skin perfecting tinted moisturizer ($26.99). I loved it all, and it all worked great in the crater, but my absolute faves were the sunblock(s) and the After Sun Soothing Lotion. It's rare to find such great quality sunblock. It went on smooth and easily, almost like a body lotion not greasy at all, had a great scent and did a great job keeping me golden and not red.

Even though the sunblock did its job and I wasn't red or in pain from my long day in the sun, I slathered on some of the After Sun Soothing Lotion and instantly felt like I was laying by the pool at a tropical resort. Ahhh…how relaxing…anyways, it's great! Highly recommended. My beau used the Surf-Vival Organic Facestick SPF 30+ and his complexion stayed clean, clear, under control and burn free. We both gave all of the Smart Girls Who Surf products a big thumbs up. Great formulas, lovely scents (I wasn't attacked by bugs) and a great commitment to the quality of their products and our planet.

No matter where you go on vacation, whether it be to the beach, or a crater, or just out and about in the sun make sure to pack a Smart Girls Who Surf Grab-N-Go Kit, your skin will thank you.

well, I don't surf either, but I do jet ski a lot here in Florida, and always am on the lookout for products that will stand up to the sun and salt. good for me, good for the environment AND good name - will definitely try it.
