Fall 2009 Fashion Trend Alert: Strong, Big, and Bold Shoulders

The Fall 2009 runways were all about big, strong shoulders. I didn't think this trend would translate to real life until I saw Kim Kardashian's rocking an incredible sharp-shoulder minidress by Brian Litchenberg to celebrate her 29th birthday. Absolutely fabulous. Create your own drama with my selection of accentuated-shoulder looks below, or just add an inexpensive pair of shoulder pads to blazers, dresses and tops you already own. (Wow, did I really just endorse shoulder pads??)

Ooh I like that Silence & Noise one. I think it takes a certain amount of edge to pull this one off, but I do kinda love this trend! Never say never in fashion I guess lol.

Oh and I was there at Kim's bday! Sadly I didn't get to see her or her bum in person

This is unexpected combination: luxurious beaming dresses with strong shoulders! Fashion is full of surprises, however!

I kind of like the strong shoulders. I think its cute if you are just accenting your shoulders. Shoulder pads in a boxy blazer no, but a ruffle or sharp edge adds interesting shape.

Yeah! I have kept a fantastic bolero leather jacket with shoulder pads since the 80's and finally it is bak in fashion!
