Beauty Trends Through the Decades

Just yesterday while looking to compare prices for a set of mineral makeup (which I will be reviewing and letting you ladies know about in a couple of weeks!), I stumbled upon a worthwhile beauty piece on –gasp- Ulta.com! While in past visits their site has lacked any kind of journalism, I found myself totally enthralled by a series of small articles on the makeup and hairstyles of decades past.

Though not earth-shattering, these little snippets are a fun history lesson on the ladies that have come before us. I recommend checking out the site both for the history of the past as well as advice, tips and tricks for the present. Oh, and once you’re there you’ll notice they also have a contest to win a $1,000 dollar shopping spree! Very nice!

it's cute, but the snippets read as if they were written by a fourth grader. ha ha ha/ i did, however, like the examples from each decade so you can see who epitomized the looks.
as you can see, everything old is new again!
i can see some positive things in each look, except for the 80's - those were the pits in clothes AND make-up AND hair (think early madonna). they did have some cute kids' toys then though - my little pony, care bears, etc.

We agree, the writing is not the best, but we still enjoy the little snippets of info put into a nice concise slide-show of sorts. And we agree, not a huge fan of the early madonna look, and we do love care bears!

the 60's would be my decade of style envy. love the big bangs and dramatic eyeliner, not to mention the proliferation of women wearing pants.

We love the eyeliner! If we just had to pick one thing it would be the eyeliner! Great choice!

we'd go with the 60's too, with its live-and-let-live vibe. also, eyeliner is one of the few cosmetics that we can actually apply with some degree of accuracy
