My ideal winter getaway is cruising the islands of the Bahamas and enjoying some Bahama Mama frozen drinks while laying out on the beautiful ships pool area listening to some reggae and calypso in the background.

I'd have a dream vacation in New Zealand in the summer on the beach - pure unspoiled nature.
#1.1 sonya on 2009-10-29 10:51
I'd love to be somewhere in South America... maybe Rio?
#1.2 Forrest on 2009-10-30 14:44
Ideal getaway:
to visit all the lighthouses in Florida.
#1.3 Rebecca on 2009-10-30 18:58
My ideal winter getaway would be a week in the Maldives with a brand new pair of CL shoes on my feet. Completed, of course, with a nice adult beverage.
#2 Brandy (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 09:41
For me - there is only 1 ideal winter getaway...NYC at Christmas (with or without snow). Seeing the tree at Rockefellar Center all lit up, walking past the decorated windows of Saks and Bloomies, wandering through Central Park near Tavern on the Green at dusk while the lights are on, the hustle and bustle of shopping just in time for Christmas, the smell of chestnuts roasting on the street, being able to wear great maxi coats and boots and scarves and gloves and hats...

Ahh, now you have me thinking of booking my tickets!
#3 TexNYQueen on 2009-10-29 09:43
My ideal winter getaway would be somewhere cold because I live in Alabama where we are still in the 80's. I would like to go to Colorado and ski.
#4 Rachel (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 09:46
My ideal winter getaway would be a week-long trip to the beautiful island of Maui. I would spend the day snorkeling with the sea turtles, climbing the volcano, and learning the Hawaiian culture.

At night, we would dine on fresh seafood and fruity desserts -- the perfect way to end a day.
#5 Deirdre on 2009-10-29 09:47
I would go back to Hawaii, specifically the island of Maui and hang out on the soft white beaches and admire the perfectly blue, cloudless sky. Heaven!
#6 Erica on 2009-10-29 09:49
My ideal vacation would be slightly different - I'd love to go to Australia. I've heard that this is an excellent time to visit and see all the things that make Australia awesome.
#7 ClassyFabSarah (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 09:56
My ideal winter getaway would be going home to see family in Philippines. Barbequing on white sand undeveloped beaches, shopping in the open markets, eating fresh produce. Haggling over the prices, lastly driving on the scenic dusty roads. Going to a beach in St. Magdalena and picking seaweed to eat later that night with grilled fish.
#8 Alex on 2009-10-29 09:56
No sunny winter getaway for me. I love to experience the cold and snow in all its glory, but not the muddy slush we call snow in NYC. My perfect winter getaway would be a luxurious winter cabin in Vermount. Lots of skiing during the day followed by sipping on hot cocoa by the fireplace at night.
#9 Maddy (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 10:00
My ideal winter getaway would be anything below the hurricane belt. The islands below the hurricane belt are considered guaranteed weather destinations, and usually referred to as the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao). So, I would take any one of those! This way all I would have to worry about is a cute bathing suit and sandals!
#10 Lauren on 2009-10-29 10:01
I live in the snowy Northeast, so in the middle of winter I need some sun! I would love to spend some time in Mexico with my boyfriend. Bathing Suits, blue water and a margarita. Does it get any better than that?
#11 Kayla (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 10:06
Fun! In an ideal world, I'd spend my winters in Tasmania ... beautiful countryside, lots of wildlife, and warmer temps than here in the northern hemi.
#12 Sally (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 10:08
I'm dying to get away this winter! I'd love to relax on a week long Caribbean cruise. What a way to spend the holidays!
#13 Noelle on 2009-10-29 10:08
Aspen! It's just a few hours away from the Mile High City, but also slightly out of our price range in terms of a stay. Canoodling with stylish celebs on the slopes and in local coffee houses in one of the most beautiful places on earth ... Yes please!

P.S. We have almost two feet of snow on the ground right now! It's insanity!
#14 Tiers of Joy (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 10:09
I am dreaming of a romantic, calm getaway at the moment. Never been to Colorado, but I have seen pics of cabins there. Im thinking Aspen. My boyfriend and I could go get away and spend our days and nights in a log cabin with spoke billowing out of the chimney. Sip on hot chocolate and make huge breakfasts every morning. Sleep in late every day! After breakfast and an afternoon hmm hmm, take a nice long shower and hit up the local markets for some fabulous finds. All of course while wearing some fabulous new boots and matching scarf and hat. Then we would head back to the cabin, make a lovely dinner and sip wine while watching old movies! Ahhhhhh. Heaven.
#15 Alicia on 2009-10-29 10:12
I've grown up in San Diego, CA where snow is only something you see on TV, in movies or by driving 4 hours to the mountains. If we get lucky, we can wear our winter coats out at night but even then, it gets quite warm. My ideal winter getaway would be going to New York City – ice skating in Rockefeller Center, snapping candid pictures around time square while it snows and shopping in Manhattan while wearing a turtle neck, long coat, thigh high boots and layers of scarves! ;-)
#16 AN HUYNH on 2009-10-29 10:12
I love to travel so anywhere is the perfect winter getaway! But right now I am feeling England, some friends are going for Christmas and it sounds like a fun trip. Plus I love cold weather!
#17 Maria on 2009-10-29 10:13
Where everyone usually wants to go to somewhere warm in the winter, I'd love to experience something so different. I would love to first head to Quebec City to attend the winter carnival there and north to the Hotel de Glace (ice hotel) This hotel is completely made out of ice and it looks amazing and a once in a lifetime experience!
#18 Molly on 2009-10-29 10:14
If it's winter up here in the northern hemisphere, then I'll head to summer in the southern hemisphere! New Zeland or Australia, doing lots of nothing, relaxing in the warm sun, enjoying all the local food and drink, strolling around and taking in the atmosphere. Man, now I really want to go...
#19 Rae on 2009-10-29 10:18
OH man, anywhere with a beach!!! I haven't been to the beach in soooo long.
#20 Jenn (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 10:20
I'm going to school in the snowbelt of Ohio and by the time Feb rolls around, I would do anything just to see the sun--anywhere! But I think it'd be great to go to Thailand-- hike part of the Old Elephant Trail then relax on one of the beaches further south. And I know there's some volunteer places to help with animals, so spend a few days doing that too!
#21 Amber on 2009-10-29 10:21
My ideal winter getaway would be a trip to London during Christmas time. I spent some time there in college and I love how they go all out with decorations and music and all that. I'd rather be somewhere cold, too, so I could sport cute winter clothes while shopping in the high streets and going to shows in the West End.
#22 Lynda on 2009-10-29 10:21
My ideal winter getaway - would be to escape
from the Northeast to the desert... either AZ or Palm Springs, CA... lounge in the sun and soak up the local flavor.
#23 Stacey on 2009-10-29 10:23
My ideal getaway would be beautiful Argentina. In our winter months they are having their hot, hot summer. I love the nightlife, the people and the food...A nice warm Christmas!
#24 Melanie on 2009-10-29 10:26
While most people would dream of whisking away to somewhere warm, I have always wanted to go North to Alaska and view the Aurora Borealis. There is a bed and breakfast there I would love to visit. Snuggle up with that special someone and watch a sky painted with colors. Afterwards warming up with two cups of steaming hot cocoa. :-) +sigh+
#25 Jen on 2009-10-29 10:28
I've always wanted to see the Ice Hotel in northern Sweden. I love Sweden anyway but have only been there in the summer. People there kept saying, "You should be here in the winter." I'd like to be.
#26 Charlotte on 2009-10-29 10:29
I am dreaming of Greece these days with the lousy weather coming into Chicago. The beautiful water and beaches make me want to jet there right now. Not to mention the food and wine is fantastic there!
#27 Amanda (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 10:34
My ideal winter getaway would be a snowboard trip complete with good food, good powder and a cozy chalet with a fireplace to wind down in each night.
#28 Jen on 2009-10-29 10:36
My ideal winter getaway is going back home to my parents house for Christmas. Building a fire, snuggling up inside and looking out at the falling snow takes me back to those glorious days of child-hood. There is nothing better than that feeling of being the kid again durring the holidays and spending time with my family.
#29 Theresa Carlson (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 10:36
My ideal winter getaway is Bora Bora.

Check this picture out and tell me you don't agree!!

http://images.smh.com.au/2008/11/13/272574/bora_bora3_gallery__470x317.jpg

Walk out of your little bungalow into the warm crystal clear blue ocean, away from everything and everyone.. No cell phone, just warm water, sun and beautiful fish swimming around you... and maybe a fruity cocktail like a pina colada!
#30 Amanda Gilmore on 2009-10-29 10:45
Ideal getaway- Fiji or Maui! Sigh.
#31 Angie on 2009-10-29 10:50
I would love to be anywhere that is sunny and dry. We've had clouds and rain for way too long!
#32 Tara on 2009-10-29 10:53
My ideal getaway is a trip somewhere warm and tropical, where my husband and I can take adventure tours and hike. It would ideally be next to an ocean, on a private stretch of white sand beach. Now I'm really dreaming . . .
#33 Jo from Canada on 2009-10-29 10:58
I'd go on a yoga retreat in Costa Rica and get spa treatments, eat lots of healthy food, do yoga and relax.
#34 Rebecca (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 10:58
My ideal Winter getaway would be to The Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun, Mexico. Its an insane private resort in Cancun that I went to last year. There is just something extra fabulous about getting to wear beachy dresses and bathing suits in the "middle of winter." I returned with a gorgeous sunkissed tan and made all my friends and co-workers jealous! Can't wait to do it again sometime!
#35 Christina on 2009-10-29 11:02
My ideal winter getaway would be somewhere warm to be honest! I don't like cold weather in general, and I can barely handle the California winter! I'd probably try to go somewhere in the Caribbean.
#36 Jen (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 11:03
While I like to go to the beach as much as the next girl, the ideal winter getaway definitely involves lots of snow and ski slopes. Hot chocolate (and some mix-ins, perhaps?). Fun ski and lodge clothes. Warm, crackling fires. Sign me up! :-)
#37 Brittany (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 11:09
My ideal winter getaway would be to the warm, sandy beaches of St. Thomas. Clear water, white sand and a fruity drink in my hand would be a dream come true. Calgon, take me away! :-)
#38 Emily on 2009-10-29 11:19
My ideal winter getaway would have to be somewhere quite chilly. Living in Arizona I have not seen the snow falls of my Midwest childhood for some time. Perhaps an escape to Megeve, France would be ideal. Its a little ski town tucked in between France and Switzerland and I could practice my French accent there. I would put on a beautiful coat and a faux fur hat and watch polo matches at night and ice skate hand-in-hand with a very handsome man by day.
#39 Megan on 2009-10-29 11:23
Anywhere warm... maybe beachy. Mostly warm though. It gets so cold here!
#40 Miranda on 2009-10-29 11:27
Simple: Sun, Beach, Margarita
#41 monalisa on 2009-10-29 11:29
I'm not a fan of cold weather so I'd want to go to somewhere warm-probably the US Virgin Islands-instead of hitting the possibility of snow.
#42 Katherine on 2009-10-29 11:30
My ideal winter getaway is anywhere that has sun, sand, clear water, and some margaritas on the rocks! I'm easy to please!
#43 Katie (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 11:36
My ideal winter getaway would be somewhere HOT!! I get enough snow and cold in NYC as it is.

If given the chance, I would go to Saint Lucia. My dream is to stay at the picturesque Jade Mountain resort. At an average of $800 per night, it is on my 'wish list'.

Love your site by the way :-)
#44 Teerama on 2009-10-29 11:36
My ideal vacation for a winter getaway would be to a beautiful ski resort. I love trying new things and I want to learn to ski. So I would love to go to the Colorado rockies and see the gorgeous vistas. Then at night to snuggle up to someone special with a hot cup of coco.
#45 Megan on 2009-10-29 11:40
My ideal winter vacation would be to stay at a fabulous lodge in Colorado or Utah with a bunch of my friends and snowboard for days, with cocktails and a hot tub back at the chalet.
#46 Rebecca on 2009-10-29 11:45
Disney World in December. Cheesy? Yes. So fun and so pretty with everything all decked out? Yes.
#47 Jessica Smith on 2009-10-29 11:47
Since we are taking dream vacations, i would love to head to Europe in the winter. Italy, Greece, England, Spain and every other country i could squeeze in. Think of all the wonderful coats, hats and boots you could wear...and buy.. in Europe! The pictures you could take with the cold snow and beautiful building would be priceless!
#48 Alicia (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 11:49
My ideal winter vacation would be to head South of the Border to Panama to visit relatives whom I have never met. My grandmother is still alive and has never met me or my son who is now 18 years old, and I'm due to have another son in January. It would be ideal to have 4 generations (my grandmother, my mom, myself and my sons) sitting together face to face for the first time in years. My mother hasn't seen her mother in 43 years.
#49 Tammie on 2009-10-29 11:49
My husband travels 4 days out of every week and when he is home it seems like we're always running around getting groceries, running errands, etc. My dream winter getaway would be to go anywhere warm that's on the beach where my husband and I can spend some quality time together and possibly explore a new culture. That would be perfect.
#50 Jennifer Singer (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 11:50
Take me to a beach resort with a killer spa...and maybe one of those secluded huts over the water for my room. Let me walk hand in hand with my man on the beach looking for seashells and take an afternoon nap listening to the sound of waves!!
#51 Diane on 2009-10-29 11:51
Oh my favorite winter getaway? I've always wanted to go to Greece... That would be a dream come true!!
#52 Carmen on 2009-10-29 11:52
I'm a Southern California girl and I like the sun! Send me to Jamaica in the winter and I'll be happy, lying on the sand with a good book.
#53 Carrie on 2009-10-29 11:53
My ideal winter getaway would be at an amazing resort/spa anywhere in the Caribbean... I'm not too picky! :-)
#54 Holly on 2009-10-29 12:10
My perfect winter getaway would take me out to Colorado for skiing, dining, and snuggling by a fire. The mountains there are beautiful in every picture I've ever seen, in any season! My husband and I are foodies, and the cuisine out there is supposed to be pretty good. Freshwater fish and wild game menus! Skiing and shopping during the day, fine dining, wine, fire, and hot tubs at night!
#55 Carrie on 2009-10-29 12:15
Dreary, damp Portland winters have the un-godly power to reach straight to the bone. Every year I find myself longing for the crisp, brilliant blue skies and fluffy snow we don't really experience here. Maybe Alaska. A tiny, toasty little cabin with a smoking chimney and a view of towering snow-capped mountains. Just me, my hubby, and maybe the elk.
#56 natlynn on 2009-10-29 12:18
My dream getaway would be somewhere with fresh white snow (here in the south we never get snow).
#57 Rachel on 2009-10-29 12:18
My ideal winter vacation is skiing in Lake Tahoe. After a long day of skiing, warming up by the fire in a cozy cabin with the fire going sipping on a hot tottie, and hanging out with my husband & family watching the snow fall (I'm from San Diego, we never see snow!). That's my ideal vaca :-)
#58 Chelsea on 2009-10-29 12:31
Swiss Alps Spa vacation at the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa. Amazing Swiss beauty with all the amenities of a luxury spa with the nostalgic charm of a historic hotel.
Ahhhh....

winter snow and spa week....
#59 Stephanie on 2009-10-29 12:34
I am picturing myself in Belize, scuba diving among the beautiful fish-filled reefs. Sub Umbra Florero reads the motto on the Belizean flag. It refers to the mighty mahogany tree, and it means ‘Under the shade, I flourish.’ I could certainly use some flourishing.
#60 Jorie Wilson on 2009-10-29 12:39
My dream winter getaway would be to an all-inclusive resort somewhere sunny! I went to a couples resort in Jamaica for our honeymoon and would LOOOVe to go back. It was just so relaxing and nice that you didn't have to worry about anything :-)
#61 kimmie on 2009-10-29 12:52
Living in sunny, always 70ish San Diego, my ideal winter get away would be a rustic cabin in the Poconos in Pennsylvania, complete with a woodburning fireplace, faux fur rug, lots of comfort food, wine, hot chocolate and the warmest, coziest, fashionable winter gear for apres ski. I chose the Poconos because I am from PA and do not get back there often enough, and my family still lives in NE PA, so I could also get some quality family time in too. Awww. . .I have a lovely vision of me sitting in a big cushy chair with a great book, a warm cup of coffee, and looking up out the window at my husband building a snowman with my two sons for the very first time. Time to grab that warm, cozy coat and scarf to join them. Of course the snowman would end up accessorized with the scarf!
#62 Lori on 2009-10-29 12:53
BB, You’d love exotic Bora Bora for romance and adventure on the South Seas. Turquoise water, stunning beaches, flower-scented breezes. Relax in the warm tropical sun or snorkel and explore surrounding islands in an outrigger canoe. Relax at a five-star resort, dining on French cuisine, enjoying a couples massage with your special man. Shop the many boutiques for great buys on perfume and pearls…bliss!
#63 Deb on 2009-10-29 13:01
I would go to New York to see all the beautiful Christmas decoration!
#64 L on 2009-10-29 13:05
I live in Wisconsin, so the winters are long and can be bitterly cold. I would love to go anywhere warm and with a beach. I'm not picky!
#65 Georgia on 2009-10-29 13:05
Ideal winter getaway would have to be Switzerland. Everything is so pretty there with snow, plus there's lots of adventure sporting opportunities.
#66 CentsInTheCity (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 13:05
My ideal winter getaway would be in France!!!!! The layers of clothing, shopping, romance, etc.! There's so much to list, even though it is a little cliche, it's still one of my favorite places to go, and from there any of the other countries bordering it.
#67 Jennifer on 2009-10-29 13:23
My ideal winter would getaway would staying at the Four Seasons Resort in the Seychelles!
#68 Cheryl on 2009-10-29 13:25
I love the Outer Banks in the winter. I love to walk the beach in the winter and it is not crowded at all. Since there is not much to do at this time of the year, we get to spend a lot of time with family hanging out and having fun.
#69 Adrianne on 2009-10-29 13:31
Seeing as how I live in year-round sunny FL, my ideal winter getaway would be somewhere blanketed in gorgeous, pure white glistening snow. The kind of place you see in movies and on postcards with towering pine trees tipped with crystal-like frost. Beautiful, homey cabins (chock full of all the amenities, I'm not a fan of roughing it) complete with a cavernous, roaring fireplace inside where I could toast marshmellows and just relax in front of with a big cup of tea while I watched the snow outside sift down from the night sky.
#70 Jessica on 2009-10-29 13:36
If I am going big--my dream getaway would be a hut on the water in bora bora. Snorkeling and swimming right out the door. Sounds nice! But I'm guessing that will stay my dream...
#71 Christina (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 13:37
My ideal winter get away would most definitely be to visit the beautiful island of Antigua, which is where my father is from. I can imagine laying on the beach, stretched out, drinking a cool drink while my son plays a safe distance away. There might even be a tall, dark, and handsome stranger fanning me in this whole dream thing....
#72 Miss_B on 2009-10-29 13:37
definitely switzerland. or iceland. pure white, calm, serene, relatively uninhabited (depending on where you go i suppose). switzerland there's majestic mountains, what better excuse than to disappear off the map for awhile tucked in some little remote log cabin somewhere?
#73 Kay W. (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 13:41
Since I live in FL, my ideal winter getaway would be to a cold snowy place! I would love stay in a nice log cabin in Vermont and spend my days building snowmen, skiing, snowboarding, and sipping hot chocolate by an open fire.
#74 Sarah on 2009-10-29 13:50
My ultimate winter getaway would have to be in northern Italy. Up in the mountains where the Austrain influences mix with Italain, charming snow covered villages twinkle against the Alps as the smoke rises from their chimney tops. Skiing and lauging in the fresh poweder by day, and a romantic horse drawn cariage ride though the shops in the village at night. A perfect balance of romance and play. Window shopping with a hot espresso, embraced by a warm winter scarf, winter vacation should (*never*) have to end. :-)
#75 Kim on 2009-10-29 13:51
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sitting on the beach drinking coconut water by day, and eating fresh fish in the evening, then dancing the night away!
#76 Liz on 2009-10-29 13:58
Ideal getaway is sitting on the beach with blue water at my feet, a girlie cocktail in one hand a book in the other and NO cell phone around, good food, music and my boyfriend would top it all off!
#77 HAL on 2009-10-29 14:07
I would love to take a fab vacay to the warm breezy island of Tahiti. I can close my eyes and almost imagine myself sipping a cool drink and drinking in the sunshine. Sigh....

My winter getaway is happening!! I just moved to Boston for college and I'm going back home to sunny Southern California for winter break--after a few months of Boston weather, I can't wait to be back on the beach with an In n Out burger!
#80 Shannon on 2009-10-29 14:16
Awesome giveaway!

My ideal winter getaway would definitely be to go back to New Jersey/New York and see my friends again - I haven't seen them in almost 2 years since I've moved! It also helps that my favorite store, H&M, is everywhere there and not a single one is here in Texas.
#81 Phebe (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 14:49
hmm...my ideal getaway would be to someplace like Tuscanny. away from the tourist crowds where i can sit and enjoy the beautiful sun. and be able to walk. and breathe. i sure can use a break!
#82 jasmine lew (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 14:54

It would be to fly NYC to meet all old friends and spend time indoors tasting warm brownies and playing cards !!
#84 Reshma on 2009-10-29 15:01
Maybe some place in Germany or France. I'd love to be somewhere beautiful and cold.
#85 Barbara Moahamed on 2009-10-29 15:23
I would love to go to Maui with the love of my life. I would go to the gorgeous beaches and snorkel while holding my boyfriend's hand. (He always makes me feel safe even in the big ocean.) I'd like to eat fresh pineapple and drink exotic beverages. We would go watch the dancers at a luau. We'd walk on the beach everyday at sunset holding hands while enjoying the view.
#86 Shally on 2009-10-29 15:27
Because I live somewhere that gets a good amount of snow in the winter, my ideal winter vacation would be somewhere nice and warm. I've never been out of the country, either, so international would be nice. I think I would want to go to Costa Rica. Nice and tropical. And because there aren't really any "sights" to see in Costa Rica, I could soak up some sun and eat yummy food without feeling bad because I've missed seeing famous cultural landmarks. Relaxation all the way!
#87 Caroline on 2009-10-29 15:33
My ideal winter getaway would definitely be somewhere tropical and warm... I can just imagine soaking my feet in the white sand while looking out into the beautiful ocean!
#88 Vanessa on 2009-10-29 15:34
Because I live in sunny Southern California, my ideal winter getaway would be to somewhere very cold and snowy. I'd love to have the opportunity to play in the snow without having to shovel my driveway, snuggle up with loved ones in front of a warm fire when it's snowing outside, and generally get to enjoy it and then go back to my life without snow.
#89 Alaina on 2009-10-29 15:52
My ideal winter getaway, hmmm. Normally, I would say something tropical, but I'm going to say New York City, because I have been wanting to go there so badly for the last few months and I've heard that the city is magical around Christmas time. Of course I would want to do all the touristy hoola with my hot chocolate in hand :-)

My ideal winter getaway would be snuggling next to a roaring fire with my husband and child in Aspen, Colorado. This would be after a long, fun day of skiing. Lots of hot chocolate would be involved as well!!
#91 Heather on 2009-10-29 16:17
Flying to Turks & Caicos, renting a house with my other two greatest friends, getting massages, sipping drinks by our private pool, walking to the beach bar, laying on the sand of our private beach, sleeping until noon, staying up for the sunrise, eating local cuisine, more massages, reading, laughing, talking, loving. Seriously. Wonderful.

Since I live in Miami and lived in the Caribbean my whole life, I would love to have a true WINTER holiday. Go to Colorado and ski, see the mountains full of snow and I would love to ride horses in the snow. Another option could be going to a cruise in Alaska! I have seen pictures and it looks amazing!

Buenos Aires -- tango, wine, culture, coffee, and clubbing in fabulous small clothes.
#94 Elizabeth on 2009-10-29 16:36
Southern Italy and Sicily would be such a great winter getaway. Not crowded with tourists and not too hot but just right. Great food, wine, landscapes and architecture.
#95 Carla on 2009-10-29 17:04
Usually I would be dying to visit somewhere tropical in the winter, but right now I'm in the mood for skiing and hot chocolate, so I would have to go with Vermont. Right now fall in New England is so crisp and colorful, and next month the ski lodges will open! Also the local maple sugar candy and hot cider is to die for!
#96 Jo on 2009-10-29 17:04
My ideal winter getaway would be a stay at the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island! It's so gorgeous! :-)
#97 Deanna on 2009-10-29 17:11
My ideal winter getaway would be to Barcelona, Spain. I got the chance to visit Madrid on my last trip to Europe, but there's so much art and culture and architecture I would love to see in Barcelona.
#98 Mia on 2009-10-29 17:14
My current ideal winter getaway would be 7 day stay at a nice hotel in the Maya Riviera, specifically the town of Tulum. I think the beaches there are just beautiful, and there are the Mayan ruins to explore.
#99 Serena on 2009-10-29 17:15
My dream winter getaway would be a vacation to the Cook Islands. I would love to be on an amazing, tropical beach instead of freezing back home.

my ideal winter getaway would have to be somewhere frigid. NYC doesn't get cold enough for me to label it winter. I would love to go to on an Alaskan cruise, enjoy the scenery and freezing temperatures!!!
#102 vnssa906 on 2009-10-29 17:40
My ideal winter getaway would be to get out of the cold NYC weather and head to the Caribbean! I would love to go to the Cayman Islands or St. Thomas!!

My ideal winter would be to go home to Norway (I was born there, my dad's whole side of the family lives there) for a proper Norwegian Christmas. It's my favorite holiday and I've always wanted to celebrate it there for once, instead of in SoCal! :-)
#105 Trude (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 17:56
My ideal winter getaway would be to a spa in Mexico...anywhere in Mexico (with my mom). The winters in Chicago are rough and that would be the ideal place to escape!
#106 jessica on 2009-10-29 18:48
My ideal winter getaway would be spent on an island somewhere warm and fragrant where the water is warm and the sand feels good against your bare skin. Somewhere where you can in a little chalet over the water and look over the railing to see bright colored fish playing in the clear blue water under your bare feet. I've never actually been to beach or to the ocean - it was initially my dream for a honeymoon, but though I did finally get married, I never did get a honeymoon!
#107 Gabrielle Smith on 2009-10-29 19:24
I would love a winter getaway to some mountain resort. My husband and I would learn to ski, snowshoe, and ride snowmobiles all over the place. Then we would retire in a lodge with either hot cider or cocoa by a nice fire... Sounds wonderful to me!
#108 Jessica A. on 2009-10-29 19:32
My ideal getaway spot is my house. Cozying up under blankets on the couch with my puppy, watching movies on the big screen, making s'mores and drinking hot chocolate, and drifting off to sleep completely relaxed and content.
#109 Sonya on 2009-10-29 19:46
My ideal getaway is one I'm actually in the process of planning and researching. A cabin or bed and breakfast in Amish country here in Ohio. So quiet, peaceful, no internet, no blackberry..just hills of snow, good food and the boyfriend. Ahh...sounds like heaven.
#110 Dina's Days (Homepage) on 2009-10-29 20:21

#116 Shavonne on 2009-10-29 21:59
My ideal winter holiday is going back to Hawai'i. Going for snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, body boarding in Sandy Beach, surfing in Diamond Head, hiking on all the trails, and have a great amazing local "ono" foods (haupia, spam musubi, saimin, bubbies mocchie icecream, Giovanni shrimp truck). Then head out to Kauai island for the amazing lay back holiday and just strolling around Kauai beach and hiking trails. After that fly to Big Island to do a coffee tasting from one Kona coffee roaster to another coffee roaster. I will also want to go to Hilo side for an amazing volcano sightseeing.
#117 Dian on 2009-10-29 22:36
If I could I'd head over to Colorado and enjoy the beautiful scenery with my sis in-law who lives there. The photos she posts of Colorado make me so excited for our trip there next summer. So Colorado would be my destination for winter, but summer is a definite go..for a wedding. :-)
#118 Roxanne on 2009-10-29 23:07
I would love to jet away to Spain for a while--the food, the culture, the nightlife, the weather. (:

My dream winter getaway would be up to Washington State to play in the snow and mountains!
#127 Trang on 2009-10-30 10:50
It's funny to hear everyone from the West Coast want to travel to the East Coast for a winter getaway. A few weeks of that unshakable chill through your body and the nip of the wind on your face and you'd be ready to go back to warm weather. My ideal winter getaway would be Puerto Rico where the colors are so bright compared to the gloomy gray days of New England. Warm weather, a tan and beautiful scenery ... doesn't get better than that!
#128 KP on 2009-10-30 11:06
Right now, my ideal Winter getaway would be back home. In spite of all the snow I'd love to spend Christmas with my fam/friends!

In the beautiful mountains of New Mexico, there's a little winding road that leads up to a place called El Porvenir- The Future. It's a rustic little camp, mostly used by private parties and churches, but it's truly heaven on earth. 10 rustic cabins dot the hills around a winding stair path that leads to an old-fashioned dining hall, serving the comfort food of your choice. The closest I've come to Heaven on Earth is sitting on the porch swing outside the dining hall, sipping steaming hot chocolate and gazing up at the snow-capped mountain peaks. Sometimes a group of deer will flit path, unworried about hunters. The camp mascot, a golden lab, will sit at my feet and thump his tail in time with the creaking of the swing. Give me a good novel, clean mountain air, and a cozy sweater, and I'll proclaim El Porvenir as paradise!

My ideal getway is going to Whistler, BC and spending a week in a great hotel in the village. The village is an amazing place that you never have to leave. The atmosphere has a permenant "Christmas feel."
#132 CuriousGirl (Homepage) on 2009-10-30 12:27
I would love to rent a Chalet for the week in the mountains and bring along close friends to play games with in front of the fire, have hot chocolate in the hot tub with and spend the days skiing and laughing!!
#133 Kate on 2009-10-30 12:31
The Ice Hotel! (The original one in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden) I know it's not really an escape from winter, but I am much happier during the chilly winter months when I embrace them rather then rail against them. (Winter isn't really a choice here in Chicago!) I'd love to get all bundled up, drink vodka, and (if I could convince my more-than-willing boyfriend that the ice hotel is SAFE) get married in the ice chapel. Sigh...maybe it's not such an impossibility!
#134 Cher (Homepage) on 2009-10-30 12:32
Would have to be heading down to Austin, Tx to spend a weekend with my best friend - checking out cute cowboy hipsters, drinking cold Lone Stars and eating delicious bbq, chilling on her beautiful balcony sipping some red wine in the mild winter weather. But I wouldn't mind heading back to the office if I had some cute, stylish clothes from Ann Klein to wear!
#135 Chloe on 2009-10-30 12:48

#137 Kate on 2009-10-30 13:01
Surely God lives in Yosemite - it is the most spectacular, breathtaking place in winter. Waking up to the snowy silence, flocked trees, while being warm and cozy in the B&B, is heavenly.

Denmark or Finland are the beautiful. The countries would provide an escape, but still provide the all of the fun that winter has to offer!
#143 Sydney on 2009-10-31 12:32
I would love to visit Little Dix Bay and The Baths in the Lesser Antilles (the British West Indies). It's absolutely gorgeous there! I could spend a whole day relaxing on the gorgeous white sand beaches reading books, people watching, and enjoying the nice weather.

My ideal get away would be to the northern british isles! Would love to see scotland and northern Ireland and trace the roots of my last name!
#145 l.higginbotham on 2009-10-31 14:13
My winter getaway is to go farther North into a white snowy small town surrounded by evergreens. I want to curl up by a fire in a little cabin with a good book. I want to look out giant windows in the morning and see the suns reflection shimmering off of mounds of snow leading down to a frozen lake framed by snow covered trees. To walk outside and feel simultaneously warmed by the sun and cooled by the temperature. To go shopping for unique christmas ornaments and fur lined boots at the little shops that the locals run and watch the deer eat outside of the local restaurant in the evening. Of course having a charming boy with me would make the vacation even better but I would be content with just me or my family.
#146 AmandaGee on 2009-10-31 15:16
My ideal getaway would be Brazil or someplace in South America so I could practice my Spanish, with my best friend.

Christchurch, New Zealand

Pristine, Beautiful, Quiet.
#148 Anu on 2009-11-01 18:59
the coolest place I've ever been is Patagonia, in Chile (the Andes mountains). The hiking is out of this world and the gorgeous mountains are breathtaking. Plus, it'd be summer there, so I'd love to back in the cool mountains, hanging out with Andean alpacas and Chilean penguins!
#149 Joceline on 2009-11-01 22:33
Aspen Colorado of course!!!! Beautiful winter Colorado!!!

My ideal winter getaway: Egypt. I would love to see the Pyramids.
#152 Ana on 2009-11-02 19:13
I've been wanted to go to Costa Rica for a very, very long time. It's one of the safest places to go for tourists and offers the most amazing terrain. You can go to the beach and relax, or hike up an active volcano.

90% of butterfly species from Central America exist in Costa Rica alone and they say wherever you go a rainbow of butterflies follow.

If I had the money it's the first place I'd go. Imagine being able to relax with a massage at a nice resort on the beach and then walking through the rain forest....
#153 Virenda on 2009-11-02 23:40
my ideal winter getaway would probably be a snowboarding trip in colorado. I've spent a lot of time out there, but have never been to the fancy place called steamboat springs, where you can spend the day on the slopes and the nights in the hot natural springs...
#154 Justine on 2009-11-03 23:43
My ideal winter getaway would be to go to the Mayan Riviera or a cruise to anywhere warm! On the other hand, I do love snow, so it would be great to go to Aspen and do some outdoorsy activities and then go sit beside a roaring fire with a mug of hot tea.
#155 Joanna on 2009-11-04 12:01
My ideal winter getaway from the rainy rainy pacific northwest would be to take a sailboat through the Greek islands and bake. Preferably with a hot yacht and a hot boy but I'm flexible. Fresh seafood, taverna-lined harbours, wine & some history.
#156 Gretchen on 2009-11-04 14:41
I'd take advantage of the wondrous winter Mother Nature has given us, and take a trip to the ice hotels in Sweden and Quebec. These magnificant structures have always had a romantic and fairy-tale like aura that I've always been drawn to.
