We've been avoiding this topic for weeks.
We finally made it to a Steve and Barry's store to check out
Sarah Jessica Parker's Bitten clothing line—and it was awful. Just awful. We had expected it to be so much more...but it was like going to Old Navy. Not that there's anything wrong with Old Navy, but we just thought the point of her doing a fashion line was to offer women something
new and
different.
We're so confused. Has Sarah Jessica ever been to Old Navy? She did an ad campaign for GAP, right? So, does she not remember that these stores already exist? Why would her supposedly revolutionary new line consist merely of poorly-constructed tees, cargo capris and high-waisted jeans?
The selection was so poor, we couldn't even find anything to buy with a giftcard. That's right, we got a giftcard when we attended the
Oprah show during which SJP debuted Bitten—free money, and we
still didn't spend it because there was nothing we wanted to wear. How sad is that?
Nonetheless, hopeless optimists that we are, we're going to go back at the end of the summer and see if their fall collection is any better (because who knows, maybe they're just sold out of all the good stuff right now). Our fingers are crossed!
We should note that there is one item from Bitten that we still love, and that's our SJP Bitten "Freak" bag (also a freebie from the show). We didn't at first but as we started using it and the compliments from strangers began streaming in, we warmed up to it. Hmm, wonder why.
