Off the Rack: Summer is Going Strong at Forever 21

Off the Rack: Summer Fashions at Forever 21

Summer's not over yet and the push at Forever 21 stores and online is to encourage shoppers to have their "Best Summer Ever." Whether it's at the beach or a backyard pool party, a road trip across Route 66 or up the coast, Forever 21 has fashions that will help you getaway and create some lasting memories. I was certainly feeling the vibe on my last trip to the store near me, where I picked up some amazing distressed denim cut-offs (similar styles here) from the Life in Progress line (more generous sizing and mature styles geared to 20- and 30-somethings), plus two breezy bohemian blouses with pretty embroidery (here's one), and a summery gingham button down. I also couldn't resist picking up a sleepshirt with the phrase "Pardon my French." They have the cutest loungewear! I honestly can't get enough Forever 21 lately, whenever I need a specific look or piece, they always deliver. You have to do some (serious) digging but it's so worth it. If you're a Forever 21 fan, too, you can join the conversation on social media with hashtags #F21xMe and #SummerForever.

Off the Rack: Cute Summer Shoes at Kohl's

Cute shoes at Kohl's

Last week I stopped by Kohl's to try to find a pair of blue and brown flat sandals that I'd seen on a friend of mine who happens to be French and who also happens to be impossibly chic without even trying (yes, the stereotype c'est vrai). They're by a brand called Sole (Sense)ability which is a stylish comfort brand that I'd honestly never even noticed before but seems to have some really cute options. If you do a lot of walking, you'll want to check these out. They're available HERE in 3 color combos for just $19 online (down from $50). The blue/brown combo is the most fun and expensive looking IMO (reminiscent of Campers or something).

Off the Rack: Summer Sandals, Essie Nail Polish and More Good Stuff at T.J.Maxx

The good stuff at T.J.Maxx

Last week I visited a T.J.Maxx store in a neighboring town that's more upscale and I had the same feeling you guys get when you see my usual photos: This store is so much better than mine! Guess the grass is always greener, right? I thought the handbag selection was better at this store, probably because I spotted a mint green Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mab satchel for $180 (regularly $395) that left a little hole in my heart when I left it on the rack (couldn't justify another RM bag purchase right now). I also spotted lots of great summer sandals by DV Dolce Vita, Sam Edelman, and Steve Madden, plus some cute Essie nail polishes and those Ciate Caviar Manicure sets for $12.99, which I've seen for $25 at Nordstrom (HERE). I also left behind a Coach crossbody bag which was a reasonably priced $80 (compare at $258). Which reminds me, the Coach Semi-Annual sale is going on right now, so be sure to check that out! Anyways, I didn't photograph any clothing items but I did pick up a striped 3/4 length sleeve boatneck tee by Cynthia Rowley for $17, which, upon seeing, prompted my husband to say, "Don't you already have, like, 3 shirts exactly like that?" Yes, dear, yes I do.

More pics after the jump.

Off the Rack: Fun Summer Accessories and More at Target

Fun summer fashions at Target

Switching up your accessories is one of the more affordable ways to update your look, and right now Target has a ton of fun summer hats, scarves, bags, jewelry and sunglasses that I'm loving for just that reason. My favorite picks include this colorful pom-pom tote, this woven peasant blouse and this straw fedora, all of which have that island-luxe Calypso-St.-Barth vibe. Other than that, things at my Target store felt a bit disorganized and disjointed in terms of trends, where everything seems to be "in" and the displays as a whole lacked cohesion. But dig around and you'll find some stuff worth buying.
