In the March 2010 issue, People StyleWatch features highlights from the upcoming Liberty of London for Target collection, which reaches Target stores March 14th. The British brand is bringing its signature floral prints to an affordable fashion collection as well as stationary, bedding and kitchen items. Shown here, we have rubber rain boots ($29.99), an oversize cotton shirt ($24.99), crepe ruffled top ($19.99) and cotton sateen tote ($19.99). Pure eye-candy! But one theory that's been tossed around the blogosphere is that these designer collabs are just there to make the regular collections (Xhilaration, Mossimo, etc.) seem cheap in comparison, thereby encouraging shoppers to make more purchases. I think there's definitely some truth to that. Target lures me in with these collabs each and every time—but I don't always take the bait and buy. Close-ups after the jump…

Now THIS collaboration I'm truly excited for. Those Liberty prints are darling no matter what you put 'em on!

It's funny that you bring that up. I was at target the other day and I am trying keeping myself on a budget when I go shopping there. In one hand I had a few Mossimo shirts each under $10 and in the other hand I had a Rodarte dress which was onsale for $20. I thought hmmm....the dress is better quality and I will probably have it for a longer time. And I went with the dress and dropped the mossimo items!

It's funny...my roomie and I were talking about how Target seems to be raising prices a bit. It isn't the cheapie alternative it used to be.

I don't know I really like the Merona collections. Some of the designer collabs are always iffy.

I usually buy what is cute and what looks to be well made and on clearance. I don't look at the brands so much. I am addicted to the clearance rack and hardly ever pay full price. I just might break that rule for the little ruffled Liberty of London top though, that is stinking cute!
