Beauty Review: Maybelline Shine Sensational Lip Gloss

Maybelline Shine Sensational Lip Gloss in Peach Sorbet, taken on top of the ad in People StyleWatch March 2010 issue. My lips did not look at all like the models but the results were "real life" good!

During Fashion Week, Maybelline reps handed out free samples of some of their new products each day in the tents, so you know I stopped by every chance I could to get my freebie. My favorite product was probably the new Maybelline Shine Sensational Lip Gloss which I tested in Peach Sorbet. It's a fruity, glassy gloss that goes on smooth, not sticky, and lasts until your next meal (no way around that!).

While it looks NOTHING like the ads (see photos), it's still a really great gloss. My only complaint is that there's hardly any pigmentation. It's practically colorless. The packaging is adorable and young as are all the other 15 odd flavors, so it's not as chic as some glosses, just a fun, yummy product that won't dry your lips and will add great shine over lipstick or lips filled in with a pencil. Priced at $6, I'd recommend waiting for a sale at your local drugstore or using a coupon, then go for it. I plan on buying another flavor next time I see it on sale.

Close up of the applicator and how it looks on skin. Sorry, I couldn't take a decent photo of the gloss on my own lips, I tried!

Hmm there's hardly any color in it! I would say you should try the Beauty Rush glosses by Victoria's Secret, they have some decent pigment to them for about the same price.

I agree! I got the same gloss yesturday and although it does smell/look great and everything, I would like it better if it gave me a tint of color!
And yess! I also have Beauty Rush and it is great but too sticky.

I was looking for a clear gloss today and took a gamble on the Shine Sensation "Mystic Mint". I cringed as I paid for it, afraid I had just wasted a few bucks on a drugstore beauty mistake...Wrong!

I LOVE IT!!

Not sticky! Shiny shiny! Almost no flavor but, that wasn't a selling point for me in the first place. I was looking for smooth, non-sticky shine and I found it. P.S. I also had a set of Beauty Rush glosses but, could not stand how thick/sticky they were and ended up trashing them.
