Last night I watched the 82nd Academy Awards and tweeted live with countless other would-be fashion critics, and we had a blast doing it! Oscar fashion trends ranged from pale nudes to brilliant blues, girly pinks and purples to ravishing reds, classic black to glittering gold, in everything from structured sheaths to flowing gowns. Here, I've ranked my top 12 red carpet looks of the evening.
Who made YOUR best and worst dressed lists?

[1] It's always tough to pick a favorite, but
Sandra Bullock made it easy because she had the complete package: She won Best Actress and dressed the part in a quintessential Oscar-gold dress by
Marchesa. Flawless hair and classic red lips finished her winning look.
[2]
Maggie Gyllenhaal always gives us something to talk about but it's not always positive. Last night's choice of a strapless
Dries von Noten in a splashy print was perfect. She remained true to her style while playing up her strengths. Loved her makeup, too.
[3]
Zoe Saldana shut it down in
Givenchy Couture. I didn't love this dress when I first saw it on the red carpet, but Zoe's entire look won me over once I saw her presenting on stage. Breathtakingly bold. The bodice glittered and the rich purple ombre skirt looked divine. This is why I watch the Oscars.
[4] Kate Winslet looked statuesque in YSL. The fabric seemed to glow and so did Kate.
[5] Sarah Jessica Parker makes my list even though her Chanel Couture dress looked unflattering from the front. The stunning side view and plunging back made up for it. SJP also gets points for the high-fashion factor and risk taking.
[6] Cameron Diaz knocked it out of the park thanks to stylist Rachel Zoe in a gold Oscar de la Renta gown, simple side-swept hair and bright red lips. There wasn't much to analyze; she just looked gorgeous!
[7] Vera Farmiga looked unbelievably comfortable and at ease in a Marchesa gown that could have easily swallowed up a less self-assured actress. Old Hollywood glamour channeled wisely.
[8] I went back and forth with Nicole Richie's Reem Acra look but ultimately decided that the retro glam sequins suit her so well. If anyone can pull off this look, it's Nicole.
[9] Zoe Kravitz looked young, chic and happy in her unique two tone dress with a velvet bustier contrasted with a peachy bodice.
[10] Penelope Cruz played it safe in Donna Karan, but if I looked that good while "playing it safe" I'd be a very happy woman indeed.
[11] Elizabeth Banks glowed in Versace: Simple on top, stunning on the bottom, in a gorgeous shade of silver gray.
[12] Rachel McAdams needs to straighten her shoulders. Aside from that, I loved her unique watercolor print Elie Saab gown that seemed light as air.
Gabourey Sidibe looked radiant in a blue Marchesa and while I loved the dress, I wasn't loving the floral appliques. Likewise, Mo'Nique rocked a blue dress by Tadashi Shoji but her flower hair ornament looked like an afterthought rather than a well-intentioned accessory.
Tina Fey more than made up for her Zac Posen Golden Globes disaster in a sophisticated Michael Kors dress but as other pointed out, her hair lacked polish.
Anna Kendrick looked washed out in Elie Saab Couture, but then again, I'm never a big fan of dress colors that match one's skin tone too closely. I had a similar problem with Demi Moore whose body was bangin' but the flesh-tone dress was not.
Both Jennifer Lopez and Amanda Seyfried went for the wow factor in Armani Prive and I think they looked beautiful. I'd add them in at 13 and 14, but the list's gotta stop somewhere.
On my "so close, yet so far" list: Diane Kruger in Chanel. Her poise and confidence almost make you want to love her dress, but those cream and black ruffles just didn't flatter her figure. Charlize Theron looked model-esque in Christian Dior but the distracting rosettes on her bust took too much attention away from her gorgeous face.
Cameron Diaz, Rachel McAdams and Sandra Bullock were my other faves.
Anna Kendrick was my second favorite, I actually really liked that it matched her skin tone. Very delicate and dreamy.
SJP's dress was great on the runway, but girl, no.
It's a tie for my favorite between Sandra Bullock and Rachel McAdams.
Elizabeth Banks was a close second for me!
CD and Sandra Bullock looked absolutely beautiful. Talk about old Hollywood.
SJP - It grew on me.
Not a fan of SJP...it looked like a sack, a gorgeous channel sack, but still a sack. BIG disappointment in Kate W. dress. So boring. She was amazing last award season. This season? Yawn.
1. Zoe Saldana
2. Elizabeth Banks
3. Kristen Stewart
4. Amanda Seyfried
5. Miley Cyrus (Even though the slouching and poor attempting to enunciate docked a few points off the dress was stunning!)
Top 5 worst:
1. SJP
2. Charlize Theron
3. Carey Mulligan
4. Kate Winslet (as much as it pains me to type that because I absolutely adore her!)
5. Rachel McAdams (Fix your hair, honey!)
My favorite look would be Maggie G. She looked FANTASTIC! Beautiful print dress, sexy smoky eyes, gorgeous drop earrings... I could go on and on. Love it.
Zoe Saldana is adorable. Some other sites are bashing her dress, but I thought it was very unique in a great way.
Anyway, here’s the rundown of my list if you’d care to take a peak:

My worse dressed was Miley Cyrus - thought the dress was too small, her hair was too old, and she should have lightened up on the makeup.
