Marc Jacobs Reverse Heel

During fashion week in New York, designer Marc Jacobs revealed his "backwards heel." It clearly fit into the surreal/dada theme of his runway show, but does it have a place on the street? And if it were truly a backwards shoe, wouldn't your heel touch the floor while your toes were pointed upwards? Hmmm...

Do you think the shoes are clever...or just plain whack?

hey Miss Shoes! girl, you are going to have to do a LOT of work to get your hands on these...IF they make it into stores. start checking net-a-porter.com, eluxury, bergdorf's etc. mid-winter (when spring 08 merchadise starts rolling in)...and be willing to drop a couple hundo on these, too!! good luck (and let us know if you score some!) :-)

I actually had a pair of shoes with a heel like that by John Fluevog like five years ago, they felt just like regular heels, its all about the angles! I liked them, and I got a lot of compliments, I think they're fun!

Unattractive things. Not meant for real life, certainly.

I'm with you! I don't have a problem with the shape per se--it's the hideous vestigial heel that really bugs me. haha ;-)

Wow I love those! Your post inspired me to take a closer look at the spring trends, especially these inverted heels. I love the bold color as well. So I say they are beyond clever.

United nude have been making a shoe for many years called the 'Eamz Pump' which have a similar style to them. I have worn them in sandal, boot and shoe versions and they are really comfortable. They are slightly more engineered looking than the Marc Jacobs ones, but same principle. I can't wait to get my hands on a few pairs of his ones, i love them.
