The folks at T.J. Maxx recently sent me a $25 gift card to assist me with spring shopping at my friendly neighborhood T.J. Maxx store. My mission: To find the season's latest trends at this off-price retailer. Could it be done? The answer is yes, but you're going to have to do some serious digging and careful, thoughtful editing (to borrow a phrase from Tim Gunn). Ultimately I found all the fashion must-haves you might need to update your wardrobe for spring, mostly under $50, including…
- STRIPES: Think French gamine or nautical
- RUFFLES: Look for simple ruffle details on a top or skirt
- COLORFUL TRENCH COATS: Khaki and black are always classic, but blue and yellow trenches are great for adding color
- LIGHTWEIGHT SCARVES: I found a bunch of gorgeous scarves for $15 by Cynthia Rowley. I actually have to go back and get one because I forget it in the dressing room while trying on other stuff.
- SKINNY BOTTOMS: My T.J. Maxx had a decent assortment of skinny jeans and leggings which will help you achieve the volume on top, slim-look on the bottom silhouette that's still going strong.
- SUMMER PLAID: I found a very current, contemporary plaid shirt by C&C California for just $24.99.
- DRESSES: Two-in-one styles are still hot and T.J. Maxx had a lot of styles to choose from.
Next stop: Marshalls! Check back later to see which shoe and bag trends I spotted at the Marshalls Shoe Megashop.
