Because we both work 9-5 jobs, we get up super early in the morning for our kickboxing class at 5:30 a.m.! It is a great way to start the day, and it's fun to kick his butt!

Taking a random day trip every now and then. We love to have long conversations in the car and we love to try different restaurants and explore different areas! It is a day/night that we get to spend just the two of us and its a great way to focus on one another.
#2 Gab on 2010-05-14 16:56
I realize that this might not be everyone's idea of "play," but this year my husband and I decided that spending valuable weekend playtime on cleaning our house was just not our idea of a good time. So we're each spending 25 minutes each weekday day cleaning one room of the house. The amount of time isn't onerous, and it's amazing how much we actually get done, knowing that it means a free-and-clear weekend. So far, so good.
#3 Clara on 2010-05-14 17:03
We cook dinner together most nights.
#4 Tara (Homepage) on 2010-05-14 17:09
Going out to eat once a week! We like to try new restaurants in the area :-)
#5 Stephanie on 2010-05-14 17:09
We make up songs while doing the dishes or cleaning.
Our favorite song to sing is a take off of an old SNL skit. Mike Myers sings in the bath tub, "Hello, My name is Simon! And I like to do drawings!"
We take turns coming up with things the other likes to do. I love being a geek!
#6 Alice on 2010-05-14 17:18
We make up words to songs while in the car, which usually ends in laughter!
#7 Katie (Homepage) on 2010-05-14 17:22
play board games.....love when we get all competitive and really into the game. Scrabble is our favorite!
#8 Laura on 2010-05-14 17:34
It sounds silly, but we actually pick a book together and then read out loud to each other at night before bed. We both really love the sound of the other's voice and we're total bookworm nerds. :-)
#9 Trude (Homepage) on 2010-05-14 17:36
We send short e-mails to each other all day long!
#10 Katy on 2010-05-14 17:42
We make a dessert together every week and then burn it off later when we run together :-)
#11 Ariana on 2010-05-14 17:47
We leave our eldest in charge and take the dog for a walk after dinner together -- it's our only time alone to talk about what is going on in our lives.
#12 Jan on 2010-05-14 17:53
We lay down and hold each other at the end of the day. 9 hours of work and 3 kids really run you ragged,
#13 Laura on 2010-05-14 18:01
Do I REALLY need to tell you? :-D (evil laugh) Lets just say, we like to "play".
#14 JoeyFO on 2010-05-14 18:07
to make every day a little more fun, we go on photo safaris!
#15 erin on 2010-05-14 18:16
We wake our two boys up together everyday and then lay in bed with them tickling, and playing with them until they are both ready to get out of bed. Then one of us makes coffee for both of us. This is the best start to everyday, all of us laughing together and rolling around in our big family bed.
#16 Lori on 2010-05-14 18:18
We try to spend time each day playing with the kids and having fun.
#17 Fern on 2010-05-14 18:24

#18 Lauren on 2010-05-14 18:34

We find new places to eat!!
#20 Charlotte on 2010-05-14 18:43

#25 Leslee on 2010-05-14 19:11
With 2 very young kids--we are exhausted! But we always make sure to get in some snuggle time after the kids are in bed. We also do family outings at least once a week.
#26 Christina (Homepage) on 2010-05-14 19:17
My husband travels monday-thursday so we make the most of the 3 day weekend we get-watch a movie, eat out or make dinner together and just spend quality time with each other:)
#27 Mini on 2010-05-14 19:24
Use fun nicknames we have and other short-hand language with each other!
#28 Robin on 2010-05-14 19:25
My guy and I spend the week presenting a dream vacation or totally spontaneous idea to one another -- "Let's go to New Zealand this weekend!" "Why don't we go to the opera?" "I want to eat foie gras!"

Then, come Friday afternoon, we tame it a bit. "Why don't we hit the beach?" "Let's watch those Shakespeare BBC DVDs we haven't touched in a while." "Why eat foie gras when I can make hamburgers here?"

We pick one, we do it!

It keeps the creativity alive, it gets us through the week, it keeps us in touch with one another's dreams and lets us work on compromise and fitting within a budget. :-)
#29 Ashley on 2010-05-14 19:34
We leave each other cute little notes in different places for each other to find.
#29.1 Dia on 2010-05-14 19:40

#30 Abby on 2010-05-14 19:43
We have ridiculous nicknames for each other- he calls me Mallard and I call him Spaniels. He will text me "Quack" occasionally through the day, which will always merit a "Ruff" response
#31 Miranda on 2010-05-14 19:43
We both work full time, so we take turns, one makes dinner, one makes dessert, it's a lot more fun than just having one person doing it all the time. He's a great helper.
#32 Linda on 2010-05-14 19:46
We dance in the kitchen!
#33 Benita on 2010-05-14 19:48

We make sure to spend quality time with our almost 2 year old, but also remember to spend time with each other. The grandparents get to spoil our son and we get to enjoy a night out on the town!
#36 Courtney on 2010-05-14 20:12
We sit doen and wach TVoed shows so we can fast forward through all of the commercials.
#37 Billy on 2010-05-14 20:13
Husband and I have a "Love Jar" in which we write things on notes that we would like the other one to do. We pick one of the other person's notes and do it. This is a way for us to show love and do something that the other person would like without having to guess or ask.
#38 Aisha on 2010-05-14 20:19
My guy and I have a kind of dorky (but very playful!)habit of singing to each other. He will make up songs about me that are silly and sweet and don't always rhyme, and I'll try to outdo him. It's a vicious cycle, but I love it!
#39 Courtney on 2010-05-14 20:26
We share a bathroom. To some couples that sounds horrible, but for us it's fun. He makes fun of all the things I do to get ready and we discuss the craziest headlines of the day as we get ready for work.
#40 Megan on 2010-05-14 20:28
We try to catch a few must see shows each week on tv together. Great down time to relax after the kids are asleep.
#41 Jennifer on 2010-05-14 20:34
My man and I cook together every night.. mostly candlelight dinners with music.. and we tuck lil' love notes in random places for the other one to find.. it's really sweet. :-)

#44 Carol on 2010-05-14 20:48
I wish I had something to say to that. Me and my guy seem to never have time on a day to day basis! But, when we do get days off together, we always try to work in the yard and drink a glass of wine!
#45 beth on 2010-05-14 21:03
We play Wii, chill, and have fun :-)
#46 Ashley on 2010-05-14 21:06
To make things more playful & fun, we leave each other crazy notes in unexpected places-like taped to the steering wheel or in his lunch I pack for work. It reminds each other that we're thinking of the other--kind of dumb & silly, but it works!!

Thanks for the giveaway!
#47 Jeanie on 2010-05-14 21:18

#50 sarah on 2010-05-14 21:38
Between kids, full time jobs, and full time college my husband and I have to make the best out of our little time together.

We've developed a silly game where we surprise the other with tickling or a quick tap on the butt. At times we even act like kids, chasing each other around the house trying to get the other back or one-up the other.
#51 Sarah on 2010-05-14 21:40
silly text messages in the middle of the workday. date night to watch hockey games or dumb movies.

#53 Kay (Homepage) on 2010-05-14 22:01
We bike after work to the seaside and play frisbee in the sand like little kids. Then we'll bike along the water. Afterwards we'll grab an ice cream cone from the truck. It's the simple, fun things in life that keep relationships fresh and enjoyable:)

I crack my guy's toes!!! He had never done it before and was scared to let me do it. But now he loves it!!! Every day after work, when he takes off his shoes, I do it for him. It feels better than a foot massage and just cracks him up!

#69 Christine on 2010-05-15 07:51
My fella and I are a very playful couple. I guess we are just big kids. When we are waiting for food at a restaurant or just chilling and catching up on the news we make-up mad libs for each other. For example: The ___ will bring ___, which is expected to ____ around through Monday, 11 News Chief Gene ___________Norman said. We started doing this after the mad lib a day calendar I had ran out. Sometimes we bring other people into. We do it to signs, menus, newspaper etc.... Some of the more hilarious written ones are on my fridge. What can I say, we are word nerds.
