Recently Carmex sent me a care package filled with goodies including two of their new products,
Carmex Healing Lotion ($5.99, 5.5 oz.) and
Carmex Healing Cream ($5.99, 4 oz.). Lately the winter weather has started to take a toll on my hands, and I've found myself cringing each time my scaly fingers come into contact with say, a piece of paper. Like nails on a chalkboard, it is. So out of necessity, I reached for the Healing Cream and found...
...instant relief! I should mention upfront that I'm not a big body lotion person, I hate the feel of greasy lotions that get on everything you touch, I loathe the eye-watering fragrances, and I get frustrated by lotion pumps that shoot all over the place when all I want is a tiny pea-size amount to sooth my skin. (Rant much?)
Point being, if you happen to be in the lotion lovers camp, you probably already know your favorite brands. But if you can't seem to find one you like, Carmex may just be your new best friend. It's non-greasy (seriously) and absorbs superfast. Furthermore, it doesn't wash off (or at least, you can't feel it washing off) the next time you wash your hands.
The scent is light and pleasant (as stated on the bottle, it's really the best way to describe it). The packaging can best be described as unisex, meaning it's really boring but at least it won't scare off any men in your household who may need to borrow some lotion for themselves.
As for ingredients, there are many, including Petrolatum, Lanolin, Beeswax, Mineral Oil, and Cocoa Seed Butter and the classic ingredients Carmex is known for, namely, Camphor and Menthol. If you're on team anti-petrolatum or prefer vegan products, Carmex isn't for you.
I haven't used the product long enough to tell if it actually "heals" my dry skin, but one application per day certainly keeps dryness at bay. I've started using it on my heels, too, and it's absolutely delightful. A little goes a long way!
I love how this stuff works and I'll definitely purchase another tube of the Healing Cream when I run out. The difference between the lotion and cream were rather imperceptible to me, so I'd opt for the cream. That's just me. Also, please note that both creams are thick and not runny (my photo may give the wrong impression; it's not dripping, I just "shaped" the product into teardrops for the photo.)
Disclosure: The products reviewed in this post were given to me for free. The opinions are all mine and 100% honest.
