One of the shows I was most excited to see this past New York Fashion Week was Cynthia Rowley, whose Fall 2011 collection did not disappoint with it's Royal Tenenbaums-inspired mash-up of ladylike eccentricity. With op-art prints, lots of velvet and funky accessories (sheer gloves, prismatic pumps and rabbit fur scarves, to name a few), Rowley created whimsical characters on the runway that made you want to take more risks with your own real-life wardrobe. My favorite moments included a navy and emerald velvet dress with chevron sheer reveal panels, a pumpkin-red silk crepe dancing dress and a pieced Cubist skirt paired with a white chiffon blouse. Click through for more photos that I snapped during the show.

This collection is a great mix of unique design and wearability. That Cubist skirt is almost like an optical illusion!
