BB's Best Dressed: 83rd Annual Academy Awards

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy gets my vote for best dressed at the 2011 Oscars. For any other actress, her dress would have been a major risk but somehow Cate pulls it off with ease. I love the colors, the fit and the exquisite detailing.

Joining Cate in my top six would have to be Mila Kunis who looked stunning in lilac Elie Saab and golden Gwyneth Paltrow for her choice of a sleek, shiny Calvin Klein. Best Actress winner Natalie Portman looked radiant in Rodarte while Scarlett Johansson's bordeaux lace dress grew on me as the night wore on. Mandy Moore made my cut for her romantic Monique Lhuilier gown which I saw in person on the Spring 2011 runway, so I'm a little biased.

Other standouts for me included the gorgeous Halle Berry in Marchesa, Michelle Williams in Chanel, Helen Mirren in Vivienne Westwood, Penelope Cruz in L'Wren Scott and Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa. Host Anne Hathaway looked lovely throughout the evening, especially in her red Valentino gown.

Love the dresses but where wear all the gems and sparkle?

Overall they all look lovely. My favorite gowns are worn by Mila & Scarlet. Why does Cate's gown have a "bib" sewn on the chest? It just looks odd to me.

Cate Blanchett's was my favorite because it looks like there is a Stargate on her chest. Scarlett is one of my favorite actresses/fashion icons but I really didn't like that dress :< It kind of obscures her glorious figure. Penelope, Hailee, and Helen Mirren were also prominent on my list. Mandy's dress is ethereal and lovely but the hair and makeup are distracting.

I'm also going to add that I love Helena Bonham Carter. She is always true to herself.

Overall I was much happier this year than last year. We saw a bit more color and sparkle (whoa Annette Bening!). I did ask the same question as sohoaccessories. I am a magpie when it comes to the sparklies so I was disappointed that we didn't see those this year.

For me it was Mandy Moore and Mila Kunis tied for best dressed. I don't like that big circle thing on Cate's dress at all. Mandy Moore was amazing in her performance as well and had on another gorgeous gown. That color on Mila looks spectacular with her dark hair.

According to the poll, I am far from alone in choosing Mila Kunis as my favorite!

None of those were my #1 favorite.. I loved Anne in the red dress she wore in the pre-show. Also I agree that Scarlett's dress grew on me.. I didn't love it at first but by the end of the night I was digging it. Natalie looked fabulous!
