I am lucky enough to have two mothers that loved me. My birth mother loved me enough to understand she had to give me up for adoption. My real (adoptive) mother has been so inspiring. She has defended me, supported me, taught me, comforted me, been generous with me, and has loved me unconditionally. I am so very thankful for her!

My mother has shown her love for me by showing me how to be an independent, loving and caring person. Without her I would not be the person I am today.

My mother passed away 17 years ago, but she showed me how much she loved me by living and being a great example to me. She was amazing!

My mom shows her love by being one of my best friends. We can talk about anything, and we visit each other on a consistent basis. She has always been there for me.

My 82 year old mom is an angel. She did not have an easy life raising seven children. Teaching me to iron, bake and cook when I needed to use a step stool. She always had patience and love and never harsh words. She has endured losing a son when he was only 20 years young and a husband, then six weeks later she had a stroke. She has never whined or complained. I am a mother of four and thanks to mom I learned the same patience and love that she passed on. A parent can give a child "things" but the only thing that really lasts in your heart and memories are the love, kindness and tenderness that forever remain. Thank you mom for being the kind of role model I have always stived to be !!

She shows her love by watching our kids for us. I don't worry at all because I know my kids are getting so much love from her when I'm at work.

My Mother....not enough words to describe this wonderful beautiful woman that I the great privilege of calling my mother. My mother deserves so much that I sadly cannot give her that I wish i could. My mother the youngest from 5 siblings has graciously took on the responsibility of taking care of her 95 year old grandmother that always need care for. She works full-time at a elementary school helping kids everyday and because of the economy the district will cut her job next school year so she will soon loose her job. She recently has gone back to school to get her masters ad she is struggling so much with all this weight on her back to even get hw done at night. She has to live with being a diabetic almost all her life and from being very ill one year and falling off the bed she now has back injuries that she will have to live with her whole life that prevents her from doing much such as simple house chores such as mopping. she has all this to struggle with yet she is the best mother i could ever ask for. she raised me and my sister right, she gives love to her husband everyday, shows those kids at the elementary school love everyday. When my sister was born she stopped working just so she could be a stay at home mom and even after i was born she continued to do so. she always lets me know that i dont have to worry about money thats its not important if i need money they will help me even though i know they are struggling to make it through the year. she will always show me her love just with the littlest gesture of just sending me cards to put a smile on my face. i could talk about my mother all day and how much she shows her love not only to me and my sister but everyone she has in her life. She is the person i strive to be like one day, i love you mom.

My mother was raised in a home filled with love, despite losing her father at a young age.

She made a point through our childhood to make us feel special by highlighting our differences (I am one of four) and recognizing that they made us unique.

To this day she never ends a conversation without saying "I love you." She has already shown that same love to my children who adore everything about her. I am blessed.

The self-sacrificing love and support my mother continues to give to her children and now grandchildren has been a great guide for my journey into motherhood.

My mother worked hard to stretch not much into enough to keep us fed, clothed, and with a roof over our heads.

My mother was a tireless cheerleader for her daughters every day, through ups and downs. She was so understanding and ready to pick us up when we stumbled along the way, I can never repay her - or maybe I already did by having her first grandchild!

Without my Mom's endless unconditional love i truly do not know where i'd be and how i would have turned out. She was always filled with such hope and had the most amazing encouraging words. As a young girl, our family didn't have much and i remember having talks about fitting in and how all my friends would constantly have new clothes while i had a few outfits i'd have to be creative with in order to not wear the same thing twice. In her strong Argentinean accent she would say "if you put pretty clothes on a monkey it's still a monkey". I would smile and understand that it's whats on the inside that matters. Thanks Mom for everything you've done - i LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

My mother is the most giving person I know. She has provided continual support to my younger brother and I during critical times in both of our lives. We have both been through rocky divorces and periods of unfathomable psychological and emotional trauma. She has provided endless financial, emotional and moral support. She has moved in with each of us at different times to help us out during periods of hitting rock bottom. She has cared for our children when we could not do so ourselves and has been an unimaginable rock for our family. She has shown selflessness and provided joy and laughter during times of sadness and depression. Her grandchildren, as a result, have not weathered the storms that we have been through in the last 3 years. I do not believe that anything could ever repay her for all the selflessness and support she has shown us through rocky times; however it would be wonderful to win this for her to show her that this Mother's day, my brother and I are healthy, rejoicing and have reestablished our inner peace because of her. We talk all the time about how we'd still be at rock bottom without her. I think the most important lesson she has taught us is how a mother's love and determination can turn a life around. I can only hope to be as a great a mother to my son as she is and has been to us. Words could never express our immense gratitude for her help these past few years. Imagine how grateful we feel for having giving us life and raised us as well. We are who we are and are where we are because of her.

My mom has shown her love in too many ways to write them all.. . . she has always been supportive but not pushy. She cares with all her heart - she knows us sooooooo well and is incredibly thoughtful. She taught us to be generous and kind - to see the good in people and to give benefit of the doubt. She taught us a great work ethic and also showed us how to have a successful marriage with our dad. We are very very lucky!

Mom DEVOTED HER ENTIRE LIFE to us kids (4 of us). She taught me to be giving, loving, and kind. She was everyone's friend.

She passed away last November, so this Mother's Day will be difficult.

It'd be easy enough to say that my mom is the best mom ever, that, however, would not be giving my mom enough credit. She has superseded all expectations of a mother and has gone above and beyond. She has pushed me in school, sports and work and demanded only excellence of me which has help develop the unprecedented work ethic I currently maintain. She has taught me that regardless of the hurdles that life may through at you, true strength can be found if you just dig down deep enough. My mom has also taught me what is means to be a strong, independent woman that relies solely on herself to achieve her dreams, and that family and friends are lights along the way. My mom truly deserves the best on mothers day for everything she's done for me and my family.

My mother sacrificed a great deal to raise 3 girls alone. She worked long hours in a sewing machine factory, which isn't the greatest job considering the conditions of a "sweatshop", put a roof over our head and clothes on our backs. She wasn't always the nicest person, but I know and understand that she loved us or she could have just let us starve. She tried in many different ways to provide for us like selling the car so we can afford rent, renting out a room to provide food on the table, and always cooking and never wasting food. She taught us how to be strong, to not be naive, that not everyone is a good person, to be safe and think rationally, and to be independent. No matter how much trouble my sisters and I put her through, she was always there for us. Her tough love was what made us strong. My father left when I was 4 so she was the only parent I had. My mother was killed by a drunk driver in 2007, I was 20 years old. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her and think about our memories together. Sometimes love isn't easy to show or say, but shown through actions. Words and expressions wasn't easy for her but her actions were enough. I love and miss her so much...

My Mom has been there for my brother and I at every turn. She knew when to get involved, and also had a sense when to pull back in order to help us learn and grow. She has a spectacular heart and I'm blesed to have her every day!

My mother raised 5 bad children by herself my Dad was never around to help out. She worked all her life at the Sears cafeteria and cleaned and cooked. My Mom worked from sun up to sun down and had no car so she would either walk to work or take the bus or bum a ride wth the neighbors when she could. We only had Sears clothing which she bought on sale. We had to wear the same clothes to school everyday but my Mom always made sure that our clothes were perfectly washed and ironed everyday. My Mom is now 84 years old and has several health problems but you would never know because she still has the energy and positive attitude and pushes herself to endure. My Mom always taught us to have a strong will, a strong belief in God and never to accept any wooden nickels!

My mom's love and support are endless. She shows my brothers and I her love with big things and also a lot of little things. She makes sure that we know that she's always there for us when we need to talk. She made sure we ate relatively healthy while we were growing up so we could be healthy adults. She always went out of the way to make our birthdays special, like she used to hand make pinatas in whatever shape we wanted. She always supports us. Now that we're older, she gives us advice, but gives us space to make our own decisions and accepts our choices. She texts me every so often just to say hi even though we see each other every day. She still puts us ahead of herself.

My mom shows her love in millions of different ways. It would take me too long to list them all. :o) She really is the best mom I could've wished for.

My mother has always been there for me. She has always pushed me to grow and become better than I am. She accomplished many things that inspired to seek an identity of my own. She loves her family but she is not defined by others, she is beautifully herself.
#53 Jessica on 2011-05-08 09:29
My mother isn't affectionate at all, and she doesn't casually throw around "I love you." I get it at Christmas, and that's about it. But she shows us her love in other ways.

I spend every Saturday with her and my grandmother. We yard sale in the summer and thrift shop in the winter. She (my mother) always treats me to a delicious lunch. These Saturdays are quite literally the best days of my life. I live for them!

Honestly? Most days I feel like a failure at life. (ex - I wasted a college education. I'm living paycheck to paycheck.) Despite my shortcomings, my mother has always supported me and told me that she's proud of me. This means so very much. There are so many days that I talk myself down, but she's always there to lift me back up.

We may not say the words too terribly often, but I've never felt like I was missing out on my mother's love. She rocks!

My mum is so hard-working and resilient, I don't know from where she draws her strength. She moved to the States with my father, not knowing anyone else and not speaking a word of English. She's always worked tirelessly for her family and community, all to provide the best possible life for her children. No complaints, no expectations of reward, while still finding time for plenty of hugs, kisses, and warm expressions of her love for us.
