6 Maxi Skirt Looks: Would You Wear One?

Lightweight fabrics. Forgiving waistbands. Affordable options everywhere. What's not to love about maxi skirts for summer? This perennial warm-weather staple is a favorite for celebrity moms, too, from Jessica Alba (wearing Ella Moss, top left) to supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio (in the tie-dye) to rockstar Gwen Stefani (bottom left). Just toss on a tank top and some flip-flops and you're good to go.

Yes, I would absolutely wear one! I actually disguise my maxi dresses as skirts by wearing them with shirts since I don't own a maxi skirt yet.

I picked Gwen but I just can't see myself in a maxi skirt. I'd have to tuck it in my armpits in order to not trip over it so that doesn't work for me.

I've worn maxi skirts the last time they came around (when I was in college 10+ yrs ago, lol) and they were fantastically comfortable, I would urge everyone to give them a try. I'm only 5' 4" and they worked for me. I think I need to buy one soon...

Agree; they're as comfortable as wearing pajamas but more appropriate when you're in public! At first I didn't think maxi dresses or skirts would work for me (5'2"), but it's just a matter of finding one that's a little more fitted.

I love, love, love maxi skirts/dresses. You can never go wrong with them.

And my vote went to Gwen. That woman can do no wrong. She always looks amazing.

I love this trend. I keep attempting to buy maxi skirts and dresses, but I have short legs (even though I'm 5'6"), so they're always too long. I think they look so effortlessly cool for the summer!

I picked Gwen too; I love the stripes.

I'm a really short girl (5'1") and I love love love Maxi dresses/skirts. It's hard to find on that works since they tend to drag the ground, but I found one recently at Urban Outfitters.

As for my favorite, I actually really love Isabel Lucas' take on it. She looks so wonderfully summery.

I've actually been looking for one for a while, but I am just too picky!
I have definitely seen some at Forever 21.

Look for slightly shorter ones at the thrift store. I still have my silk ones from the early 90s. I like them better because they are fitted more at the top and slightly flared at the bottom. I have been looking for a more fitted or shirred top to wear with mine because with so much fabric, I feel huge. That's why I picked Alessandra Ambrosio's outfit, because of the top. The others look cute, but only because they are probably a size 2.

Love maxi's! With a fitted T they are so effortless and comfortable. If you have problems with the length, try the jersey maxi's with the fold over yoga-style top so you can adjust the height!

Absolutely! I'm on the hunt for one and regret deeply that I didn't stop and buy the one I saw on the street of my UWS neighborhood the other day. I'm still kicking myself but I plan on going back to see if they still have it! I think I would probably do more of the Alessandra Ambrossio style too.

I prefer maxi dress rather than maxi skirt. here I like jessica alba skirt. I like the way she rocks it with a biker jacket. Romantic yet wild
