Off the Rack: August Highlights at Forever 21

Last week I popped into the Fifth Avenue Forever 21 store to assess the late summer/early fall offerings. While concise trends were hard to pinpoint, it's clear there's something for everyone, from preppy collegiate to California surfer, glam-rock, boho, gypset and everything in between. If the kaleidoscopic colors and quirky styling on the mannequins leaves you confused or overwhelmed, my advice: Hone in on individual pieces. Maybe you're dying to try a feminine bow-tie blouse or a cool, sleeveless trench. Check and check. Maybe you just need some colorful twill pants or a punch of leopard print. Done and done! Forever 21 is never boring and with a little patience, you can always find a piece or two to update your wardrobe on the cheap. Here, some highlights that caught my eye - see anything that's worth a trip to your nearest store?

haha, I agree with the previous commenter - it looks like you went right at opening! I worked at a F21 over Christmas last year, and while it was fun (and easy!), it was so stressful for an organized person like me - clothes EVERYWHERE with women complaining about it, and there was no way I could keep up!

if i could just respond to the commenters :-)

i used to have the exact same complaints about f21. the messy nature all the locations seem to have, drove me NUTS. well, guess where my broke college butt has been working at this summer???.. yup.

the store is a favorite amongst women of very different age groups, so any location, (esp. by where i live), makes anywhere from 30-40 grand in a day. that's a lot of spending. by a lot of people.

wages are low and to cut costs further, we don't have very many people scheduled to work all shifts. you turn to fix one rack, and behind you, someone has toppled over a beautifully folded pile of jeans!
i could go on and on but please ladies, we're not robots at the store :-)

I don't know, I'd have to disagree with that employee. I feel like the higher the store volume, the better the store. Every time I go out of town - to San Fran or Las Vegas especially - their stores are always SUPER organized and they seem better staffed. Maybe everything doesn't stay folded, but the organization of the store overall is a lot better. Smaller Forever 21's always just seem to be nonsense. They're not separated by theme/brand/designer/men/women/plus-size. It's really chaotic!

The F21 stores by me are always well organized.

I'm hoping to invest in some new sweaters this year. Starting with that gray number above!

That's been my experience, too, my local mall store is small but I always find great pieces. The employees are really friendly and helpful there, too. It's always very organized and it's even divided by trends, despite the small store layout. My advice is shop on weekdays if at all possible, the mall is just a more peaceful place overall!

You can't never go wrong with F21. I am loving the animal print booties. I know what I will be doing this weekend. Also H&M is finally opening here in Dallas so I know I will be "MIA" this weekend...LOL
