I've been really busy with wedding planning so I asked my sister Chantal to review some of the latest whitening products from Colgate. After reading her review, I'm wishing I kept these samples for myself. —BB

Colgate was kind enough to send us some of their latest toothpaste and their newest toothbrush from their new Optic White line for testing and review. I love tooth whitening products, I'm kind of a white teeth junkie. But, lucky for them I had become lazy in the past couple of months and had started to notice my pearly whites looking a little more dingy then pearly. I had been eyeballing some of the whiting strips at Target just days before my Colgate package arrived, and I'm glad I saved my presidents (don't worry Target, I'll be back when the Missoni collection arrives…and probably twelve times before that).

Tooth whitening products can get pricey, with some strip packages going for around $30-$50 in stores and professional whitenings can run you hundreds of dollars. No thank you. So when I saw that the new Colgate Optic White toothpaste averages around $3.00 for a tube, and some places I've already seen it going for less, I really wanted it to work well.

I immediately loved the bright red packaging, it's very eye catching and fun. The bright color makes me think of ruby red lipstick and makes me even more excited for super white teeth. The tube is easy to use with a convenient pop lid, no worries about missing toothpaste caps, and the toothbrush comes in similar lovely red packaging.

So the toothpaste claims to work the same as whitening strips; visible results in one week's use and full results in one month's time. I think that the key here is that you can't expect to see the same results until you've been using it for one month. That's just fine with me, but if you are looking for a faster whitening, this is not going to give you that. It's a great, easy, daily way to whiten your teeth and keep them that way.

I really loved the results that I've had with Colgate Optic White. I have been using the toothpaste daily for one month now, and my smile is most definitely whiter, brighter and my teeth look great. The toothpaste never irritated me or made my teeth sensitive, and I'm a fan of the flavor and lather. I would definitely keep using this toothpaste. The toothbrush is also really great, I think it works well and the bristles are comfortable and never caused irritation. I'm also a fan of the tongue cleaner on the back of the head. As for the "cups" that hold the whitening toothpaste for better results…meh…I'm not really buying it, but I still like the toothbrush and would choose to buy one again in the future.

All in all, this is a great whitening toothpaste that I would highly recommend and plan to continue using myself, especially at such a great price point.

Going to give the Colgate Optic White a try! I've been using Super Smile and I love it but it's a little pricey! Thanks for the review!

I am thinking about giving Colgate Optic White a try, but, I can't understand how the ingredient that is suppose to whiten teeth is listed in the inactive ingredients. Can someone explain how this works?

great question, i'd like to know how it works as well. i just saw my sister's teeth (we live in different cities so i hadn't seen her in a few months) and they are crazy white! i ran out and bought a tube of this toothpaste to use before my wedding, wish i had been using it all month long as i'm not sure i'll see results in just a few days lol!

It is inactive because the "use" for the toothpaste is to protect against cavities.

While it is actively whitening our teeth, it is not an anticavity ingredient. :-)

how long does it take to work?

Oooh I am glad you reviewed this! Just today, in this Sunday's paper I found some coupons plus they are on sale at both CVS and Walgreens. Score! I just purchased the toothbrush (which feels in a word, interesting lol) and will add the toothpaste to my 'collection'. Thanks!! :-)

I bought Colgate Optic White, literrally 3 days ago. I've used it 6 times so far (by brushing 2x a day). It is great. Although the one week hasn't gone by I'm starting to notice a slight difference in my teeth. The flavor isn't bad, honestly I like the strong kick it has. And the foaming isn't that bothersome, I am after all brushing my teeth ... Love it I will definitely continue to buy this product!

I have been using Optic White for 2 weeks and it most definitely works! I have a very noticeably whiter smile. I just use the toothpaste, I didn't even know there was a toothbrush. It has good taste and doesn't burn like other whitening toothpastes. I LOVE this toothpaste and can't believe how much whiter my teeth are!

I don't use the toothbrush either. I absolutely stand behind rechargeable Sonicare toothbrushes! There is nothing like brushing with an ultrasonic toothbrush! Those coupled with this extraordinary toothpaste, and Colgate Wisp disposable whitening toothbrushes (to touch up after lunch) have left my teeth noticeably whiter in just 2 days!

In the past I have always wanted to have whiter teeth, my friend recommend the Crest professional whitening strips in the 20 count. I will be honest, her teeth are super white and the strips do work but the only downfall is that for me and my other friend who is using the strips as well before his wedding day have both complained about extreme sensitivity and painful effects after only using a few strips. I got half way through the kit and said no more, I cannot take that amount of pain all day long. I stopped whitening my teeth for three weeks now and started to notice my teeth were starting to turn yellow in some spots close to my gums again. When I heard about the Optic white toothpaste by Colgate I was curious too see if it actually worked. I just bought this toothpaste and after a week of using it two times atleast everyday I can see it working! Very happy I tried this toothpaste. It is so gentle and a lot cheaper than the whitening strips. I will be buying this all the time. Thank you Colgate.

I just purchased this toothpaste 3 days ago for the first time. My smile wasn't as white as it used to be and I was hoping this product would work. For the price, $5.99 for a 2pk, it's working great. I've been brushing 2-3 times a day every day for the past 3 days and it's already working! This morning I looked in the mirror and absolutely noticed a change!! I think I am sticking to this brand now! I never was a fan of colgate, but I am a fan of this product!

Just bought this, my teeth are really bad- ill admit that. Something the orthodontist used on my teeth turn them yellow, and apparently it was an acid reaction or something like that.
I've used this probably 10 times already (retainer and eating) and I really haven't noticed anything, I use to do strips, brushed with Crest Vivd Whitening toothpaste - both don't work, then I was told by my doctor (who also whitens teeth professionally) that I have naturally yellow teeth. IM REALLY COUNTING ON THIS TOOTHPASTE TO WORK after a month. I never smile because I'm self conscious about my teeth.. I hope this works '

Oh goodness.. :-( seriously?
I've been using the toothpaste and the toothbrush with the mouthwash for almost a week now and I'm definitely seeing a change. Maybe it''s just going to take a little longer with your teeth. I really hope it starts working for you!! Best of luck!

I've been using this toothpaste for about two weeks and I love it!! After having my braces removed two years ago, a few of my teeth weren't AS white as the others, and now they are all noticeably brighter and whiter! Enjoy :-)

I'm a hygienist and I hate that I can't whiten, I have braces. I love our in office professional bleaching system but I can't use it because it's we make vacuumed formed custom trays the bleach sits in. I have been using optic white for a little over a week and I love it. It has brightened my teeth with braces on. With any bleaching system, the bleach will work around a white filling and even with braces in the way. (Becareful with any bleaching system that is you have any front fillings or crowns, they wont change color, just any tooth structure will.) There will be no marks left where the brackets were. Hydrogen peroxide is cool like that. So all in all, use optic white even if you have *braces*!
