Kardashian Kollection for Sears: Off the Rack

I finally checked out the Kardashian Kollection for Sears last week, which as you probably know is a celebrity clothing line from the Kardashian sisters Khloe, Kim and Kourtney. The collection mirrors the glam lifestyle of these reality-TV stars with sexy cocktail dresses, trendy jumpsuits, boho-chic maxi dresses and bold animal prints. The winter collection was on its way out of my store, relegated to the not-so-clearance racks, while the latest spring line inspired by the sea looked like it had just arrived. This installment was actually pretty cute, with nautical striped tanks, and a tasteful navy, red and white color palette. There was a flowy chevron-striped maxi dress that I wouldn't mind owning.

But I couldn't help but notice that everything seemed grossly overpriced ($99 for a sequin blazer, $84 for a clutch). Apparently I'm not alone - while shopping I overheard a group of women experiencing the same sticker shock that I was feeling, so I struck up a conversation with them and they confirmed my gut feeling - Kardashian Kollection is way overpriced for Sears. My advice is to wait for a sale; you can find many items on sale online which makes these prices easier to stomach.

I could go on but I'll leave it at that. What do you think, have you shopped the Kardashian Kollection? Do you think it's worth checking out or will you take a pass altogether?

The style certainly emulates the style of the girls themselves, but the clothing is in no way any better than what I've seen in F21, so I'd never pay those prices.

Some of their collection is cute, but come on u have to have a Kardashian paycheck to buy anything. I don't think the stuff is "that cute". I mean are they trying to get rich off this, don't they have enough money to go around already?why not have Highend stuff and then other stuff that real people can afford! I guess I won't be shopping Kardashian style any time soon. But that's what I would expect from them, they think they run the world...NOT!

I certainly wouldn't pay that for anything from Sears. I tend to stay away from things associated with the Kardashian name. They think because they put their name on something it makes it better. Full clearance racks speak otherwise.

The Kardashian Kollection has got some really trendy, stand out peices, but I agree that the price points are too high to be sold at Sears. What is the reason for the huge mark ups? Are they using quality fabrics? The Kardashisn name alone certainly doesn't justify high prices.
#3 Briana (Homepage) on 2012-01-23 12:53 (Reply)
These are NOT high quality fabrics. The handbags in particular are low-quality vinyl and cost $99. They sale prices float between 30% and 40% off, so the prices are high even at a discount.

I think this line is utter garbage.

But if you are interested...Sears outlet stores often have pieces of the Kardashian Kollection. They're priced FAR less than the regular stores. And occasionally the outlet stores do an apparel giveaway on Tuesdays where you can get a free item of clothing (you just have to be a member of the rewards program).

What an interesting mix of clothes! Loving the nautical but some others are kind of on the random side. Thanks for the recap!

These do look like things the Kardashians would actually wear, so I would imagine they are pretty involved in the design process, but those prices! If I was going to spend that kind of money, I'd go to T.J. Maxx or an online sample site and get something designed to last. I think they've priced themselves out of their target market's budget.

The clothes are stylish enough, but I wouldn't buy them at any price point. I just don't respect the Kardashians as people and don't want do anything to support them.

I like the nautical inspired pieces but yeah, those prices are too high. And I also cannot stand the Kardashians. They slap their name on everything and the overexposure from product endorsements, fashion lines, numerous spin off shows from the original show that I've never watched and never will, perfumes, cosmetics, ridiculous tabloid stories..they're like bed begs, they're everywhere.

It'd be like a 16 & Pregnant maternity line. If it's from the Kardashians I have no interest.

Defiantly cute stuff, but way out of my price league.

I love how they say "There excited to bring affordable clothes to women..I'm waiting to see the affordable "Kollection".
#8 MrsEmilyN on 2012-01-23 15:01 (Reply)
The nautical theme is pretty cute, but I just can't imagine wearing something with "Kardashian" on the label. And the prices appear ridiculous.

Can't stand the Kardashians so I wouldn't buy anything that supports them. Speaking about the collection alone, it is looks tacky and the quality doesn't look that good. Way overpriced, wouldn't even buy it on clearance. I see better things at f21. Personally I dont think the Kardashians have much style either since they usually rely on bold tacky prints, tight dresses and skirts, lots of makeup, and sky high platforms. Dressing provactively does not make someone fashionable. Their look is always the same and gets old fast.

Klearance... UGH
I would never wear any of this
or spend a single dime on it
#11 Claudia on 2012-01-23 17:25 (Reply)
Ha! I Kompletely agree - some of these pieces are cute but WAY over-priced! I asked a Sears clerk if anyone buys this stuff. Her answer? "Yes... they return it too." RidiKulous. Sears need to get a clue, slapping "Kardashian" on Krap doesn't mean you can charge an arm & a leg for it. This stuff has decent design but it's poorly made.

I actually picked a few thing up to try while Christmas shopping last month...they were on sale and kind of cute. One of the items ended up having a few holes in the seams and the other item, which I though was a shirt on the rack, was actually a shorts-jumper. Ugh. No way, no how. Not on my body at least.

That orange dress is cute...but I'd rather it be black, not orange and having seen the clothes in person, have a feeling it's made with a scratchy, unflattering material.
#13 Nikki on 2012-01-23 20:19 (Reply)
I just can't bring myself to spend any money on a celebrity line. Most celebs don't put any time into their "kollections". Instead, they'll pay an anonymous designer to do it for them, and then slap their name on it. It's unfair for those who want to be designers, but can't because of the market being flooded with celebrity labels. And yeah, some of the pieces are cute, but it's way too expensive!
#14 Valerie at Beauty and the Budget (Homepage) on 2012-01-23 20:46 (Reply)
These are overpriced to the point of craziness and like Nikki I've serious reservations about buying from Kardashians.
#15 Natasha (Homepage) on 2012-01-23 21:06 (Reply)
Now I picked some stuff up at Kohls from LC Lauren Conrad and I really like it. Very pretty and usually on sale.
#16 Tracie on 2012-01-23 22:21 (Reply)
I blogged about their "Kollection"when it first launched, and I love their pieces! I even purchased a couple, which fit perfectly on my curvy shape. The collection has a little something for various body types, which I like. And they are stylish and affordable.I guess what I'm trying to say is that I agree with your assessment! Love your blog by the way!
#16.1 snached on 2012-02-16 12:13 (Reply)
Do the clothes look as cheap as they do in the photos? I dunno... I would NEVER carry a purse with their logo on it.
#17 ELLE on 2012-01-23 22:57 (Reply)
Wow, none of those look worthy of such hefty price tags! Maybe they chose the wrong store for a collaboration?
#18 K (Homepage) on 2012-01-23 23:14 (Reply)
Couldn't agree more! I will say though...I've used a couple of their things on my models for the blog and the fit and quality is better than I expected.

some of these Komments are really making me Krack up. haha. i saw the "Kollection" when i went to make a land's end canvas return at sears, and i couldn't have run faster through it. (land's end canvas, however = mostly the bomb. the return was on behalf of my sister who ordered a sweater that just didn't fit. i ordered a stack of clothes and shoes when they were had their 40% off coupon code and love them all!)

Adore the high waisted trousers & chevron maxi dress, but would NEVER pay that much for them.

I heard that the quality isn't so great, so I don't understand the price point. Hate to sound redundant, but that definitely is too much for Sears.

I recently visited the DASH store in Miami Beach and was equally disappointed as with the Sears line: highly overpriced and 'meh' in quality. The least expensive item in the store was a bottle of water with the sisters on it, for $10. The DASH t-shirt was $60. I think they're putting Calif. prices on everything.
#22 OBR on 2012-01-24 09:58 (Reply)
I think it's unanimous...the collection is way overpriced. The quality of the items doesn't come close the cost.

I have to say, I miss the A-Line line from Sears. Quality and stylishly timeless pieces.
#23 TexNYQueen (Homepage) on 2012-01-24 10:53 (Reply)
They have some cute pieces but honestly I am not impress. I think I have seen better pieces at H&M and F21. :-(
It is frustrating because I do love those girls. I will rather shop at Dash than Sears. Ouch :-(

I refuse to spend my hard earned money on anything that I have an inkling that a Kardashian will prosper on. I do not like them at all, no matter how cute some of the designs are.
#25 Robin on 2012-01-24 14:13 (Reply)
Ridiculous price point. Why make a line for Sears to charge Banana Republic or Club Monaco prices? They really have some nerve! Guess they really have no idea of what price point customers who shop at Sears want to see...No surprise, since they are out of touch with realtiy.Haha
#26 Alisa on 2012-01-24 14:39 (Reply)
I saw the winter collection in my local Sears. I am definitely not a fan of the Kardashians - wish they would go away. Out of curiosity, I checked out their collection. Aside from the fact that I dont like their style, the clothes seemed poorly made and over priced for Sears. I saw seams that were sewn crooked and the fabrics seemed cheap for the price. On one item, the sequins were already coming off. I havent looked at the new collection so I dont know if they improved.

I am guilty of purchasing to shoes from this line. I bought a pair of black pumps and leopard pumps on sale. I ended up getting the black ones for like 20 bucks because they were the display models... I was happy because I loved the way they looked on my feet but honestly when I got home... I felt kind of dirty! LOL My hard earned cash had just contributed to their multi million dollar empire. THAT won't happen again... The line is nice to look at and certain pieces are cute (mostly everything is on sale) but the quality isn't really worth it. the stitching and style looks good but the materials used aren't exactly top notch... If you want a great SEARS line to check out take a look at UK Style by French Connection. That line is my secret gold mine for cute unique quality pieces that not too many people have!

I prefer UK Style by French Connection, too, here's a recent post I wrote about the collection:

Why does SEARS still keep the kardashians? kardashians don't even wear their sears line. kardashians wear NAMEBRANDs. they don't even use their own brand handbags. they carry BRANDNAMES like hermes .. don't anybody notice?
#29 Rhowen on 2012-01-31 20:33 (Reply)
I tried on a black KK romper at Sears, and the legs were sewn on completely sideways (to wear it, your upper half would have to face right while your bottom half faced left... at all times). This means their items can't have been inspected for any kind of quality control. I've never seen that blatantly bad quality in my whole life... and I'm 40!
#30 Jenny on 2012-05-18 19:16 (Reply)
I would be to respect there line if they would actually wear their own stuff but you never see either one of them wear their own cloths. I WATCH THERE SHOWS AND NOT ONCE DO YOU SEE THEM WERING THERE OWN LINE IF IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM HOW IS IT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME TO SPEND MY MONEY ON IT FOR MYSELF.
