Off the Rack: Easing into Fall at Old Navy

Today was so humid, my glasses actually fogged up on a morning walk. Despite the strange weather, I know fall is just around the corner, so I stopped by Old Navy yesterday to scope out the early fall offerings. From lightweight cardigans in the latest animal prints and popular polka-dots, to stretch cords and skinny jeans in updated hues like mustard, plum and gray, I found myself wanting a lot of these wearable pieces. Highlights include a dark denim jacket, the aforementioned stretch corduroys, and front pocket blouses in sleeveless and long-sleeve (although I have a feeling these rayon pieces will look like a used tissue after they're washed). I still have trouble with the fit of the Rockstar jeggings, otherwise I would have scooped up a pair in dark purple; next time I'll look for the Sweetheart as recommended by a couple readers. I ended up splurging on a striped faux-Crew blouse ($29.94) and a polka-dot chambray shirt ($24.94) which had a nice weight to the fabric and will go with just about everything.

More pics after the jump...what have you bought at Old Navy lately?

Cute!!! Yeah, I totally love those dark purple jeans but there's just no way. They are sooo tight, thin and show every little bump. I wear a 4 - I can't imagine what those 14's I saw would look like on. ;-) My thing is I need tall sizes and it's impossible to find online. Even all the cute blouses/shirts and such. ON has gotten better with tall sizes I will admit!
I have picky feet but some of their shoes I have worn with no issues. The pointy flats are perfect for me. Love love love. I purchased the white with black spots - OMG aren't those the cutest!!!?? I have a million other pair I have yet to wear (gray leopard print from spring/summer is 1 example) but the new pointed plats (in brown, nude, black) are similar to my fave style from last year (the sueded ones) but just look a lot cheaper for me to want. Those magenta, green and red ones I saw online though... oooohweee those are cute!
Anyways, love love love! :-)

mmm. Well depending on the face and personality of the size those prints will look way better than a mean and rude size 4!

I love the tops you tried on and the polka dot cardigan. I miss wearing fall and winter items now that I live in Hawaii. I was hoping that Old Navy would have some nice summer outfits for me to snag and wear year-round, but all of their dresses were either see-through or too short or sleeveless. I hate it when that happens :-( You look fantastic in those tight jeans though!

So happy you posted about Old Navy! I haven't been in a while but I love all this! What great patterns and bright items! I love that striped dress, all the flats and that polka cardi!

I bought that same polka dot chambray shirt, too! I haven't shopped at Old Navy consistently since 2005 because the quality kept getting worse, but with offerings like this, I will reconsider. It has good reviews on the website. Since it's still too hot in the Southeast, I haven't worn it yet. Can't wait :-)

I had to have the cream colored polka dot boatneck sweater! It's a lightweight sweater, so it's a good transition piece. It's so cute in person!

I'm trying just to stay out of Old Navy all together because it's impossible to stop in and not buy anything. Last time I was there I got the white sweater with black polka dots even though it is still in the 90s here. That is the power their clothes have on me :-)

Oh the Rockstar Jeggings. So cute, so tiny. I don't even bother trying them on any more.

I got the polka dot chambray shirt - agree, love the weight and it's nicely fitted.

I'm in Polka dot heaven! I'll have to use their app to see if I can get a coupon.

I am heading there this week for a pair of ankle booties. Plus I have been wanting the stripe dress that you photographed. I cannot do the Rockstar cut jeans either! I think you have to be about 50 lbs to wear them! Also on a side note, the leopard flats you are wearing, are they the ones you bought at Target?

I recently ordered the Rockstar jeggings in Dark Wash. I hope they fit!

Shopbop! It's DVF, $24. I earned a $25 credit for referring a friend so I got it. :-)
