Off the Rack: October Highlights at Target

Target fashions in stores now

Cozy fall sweaters, cool jackets and day-to-night dresses are just a few of the must-have pieces you'll find at Target right now (a major improvement from my last visit!) Here's what caught my eye - read on for riveting commentary and lots of photos!

This open front shawl cardigan caught my attention because it feels so substantial and looks really luxe - also comes in gray and black. I live in sweaters like this paired with skinny jeans and tall boots all winter long.

I resisted the urge to buy these ankle boots on clearance for just $10.48.

We featured these Nate Berkus elephant candle holders...

...and this black and gold frame in this post (they look just as good in person!)

This piece reminds me of a Rick Owens moto jacket.

These Sam & Libby 'Selena' ankle boots boast a chic leopard print and classy shape, although I will say these look better from a distance - up close you can tell they're a bit cheap (but who's going to put their nose to your shoes?)

The Peter Pan collar is a nice touch on this mod dress.

You can never have too many striped cardigans. I'll take one of each, please.

Add a little edge to your everyday looks with faux leather inserts.

Loving these deep shades of red...

You can't tell from the photo but this shirt is made from a rather thick fabric and reminds me of a top I saw at J.Crew - I remember thinking the fabric choice was odd but that's what makes this top stand out and look more fashion-y.

I question how well this lace front sweatshirt will hold up in the wash but it's a really cute way to get this trend for less. Here are two more options we posted earlier.

I fell in love with this geo print sweater after seeing how Atlantic-Pacific's Blair Eadie styled it for Target's fall '13 lookbook (HERE).

This houndstooth sheath is the perfect day-to-night piece.

This plaid jacket looks better in person than in my photograph. It has a 'Gwen Stefani' attitude but would look sophisticated enough for the office, too.

Apparently Target has a jewelry collab called Cara Accessories - pretty stuff. I see many items from the collection are on clearance HERE.

This Merona bag looks expensive.

These accessories make me look forward to hat and scarf weather. I might go back for the striped set.

I forgot to look for the ankle boots, however, I did buy some knee boots.

Even better! Which style...?

I have the Merona bag in Cognac. I get so many compliments and everyone is shocked to hear how inexpensive it was!

I just purchased an identical pair of Sam Edelman boots from lastcall.com for under $50 in black suede! Also, there's a Rebecca Minkoff satchel that looks almost identical to the Target version. It really does look as nice in the photo as it does in person! I really like your choices.

Wish more of the tops were nursing friendly. Love the jackets, cardis and sweaters, though.

As the weather gets chilly I'm having trouble finding things that are nursing friendly, too. Also trying to figure out how I'm going to use my carriers with a coat!

I plan to wear my coat on top of whatever carrier I use (most likely my trust Beco Gemini). I'm thinking as far as nursing friendly tops, I'll have to stick with V neck sweaters or cowl necks and use a scarf for neck coverage. Those are the necklines that have worked for me in stretchy fabrics. Oh, and scoop necks, too.

I loved the black snake jacket. It looks great on, but it's on the thin side. I was trying to use the 20% off Women's outerwear from the Cartwheel app, but it wouldn't take so I didn't get it. :-( I would have saved $7 off the $35 retail price.

Oh boo. I forgot to use my Cartwheel app on my last trip, ack!
