Happy New Year! It's the first day of 2014 and that means it's time to share my fashion predications for the year ahead. Last year, I made some accurate predications and some not-so accurate predications. For example, Julep did name a nail polish after me (yay!); but DVF did not design a line of wrap dresses for Target. Boo. Oh well, you win some, you lose some!
Let's see if these 10 things will come true in 2014:
1. Daily flash sale sites like Rue La La and Gilt are already changing up their business model to be less "flash sale" centric and more like other online retailers. It's boring for shoppers but apparently good business. So as a result, I predict sites like Groopdealz will continue to grow in popularity.
2. Ok, I'm repeating this one from last year because I really hope it comes true! Forever 21 will bring back it's maternity line and launch a home collection. It could happen.
3. Social shopping will surge on Instagram, Pinterest and beyond. And bloggers will lead the pack as influencers.
4. Monthly subscription boxes will saturate the marketplace. Or maybe they already have, since you can get everything from baby toys to healthy snacks delivered to your door each month.
5. Henri Bendel will team up with Target. I have no reason to believe this will happen but I think it would be fun.
6. Shock factor fashion will still be going strong thanks to Miley Cyrus et al.
7. Babies will play a big role in the celebrity realm again this year, as Rachel Zoe is expecting her second child and the royal baby and baby North West grow up before the world's eyes.
8. Glitter and chevron will be replaced by mirrored surfaces and snakeskin. Eh, who am I kidding.
9. Shopping while watching TV shows will become easier - pause, click and buy the looks you see on your favorite characters.
10. Mobile devices will continue to shape the way we consume fashion news, trends and products.
