Decorate by Number: Mint and Pink Living Space

Mint and Pink

In my "Decorate by Number" series, I'm showing you how to get Pinterest-worthy decor looks for less! This week, we're getting inspired by a soft yet luxurious mint and pink living space. For more home décor inspiration, visit my blog, A Vintage Splendor.

Mint and pink with a hint of yellow. The subtlety of this room is perked up by the sweet blend of pastels and the rich fabric of the chairs, silky lined drapes, and opulent mirror. This combination is a refreshing take on creating a luxurious corner in a room or even using it as an inspiration to create a larger living space at home. Symmetry of a space or room is very important especially when you are working with a few statement pieces. This space would definitely not work with just one pink chair or a larger mirror. The chairs and credenza are bold yet dainty and the mint backdrop maintains this balance. The soft color palette and symmetry make this space for perfect for me - it’s comfortable luxury for an entryway of a home or as a sitting area of a master bedroom.
As mentioned before, I think this space has the foundation for an overly ladylike living room and I’m good with that! You can introduce a golden hued sofa in a silk or velvet fabric and you’ll be living in the pages of Elle Décor. Or perhaps opt for even more dainty chairs and you’ll create an entryway that will dazzle at the door.

If you’re inclined to create a ladylike living room like this, determine what functionality you need in the storage piece also known as a buffet, credenza, and console. If you like to change-up your furniture, then select a piece that has versatility like this buffet from Target. It will work in a living room for additional storage, or in between dining and living rooms where it can double as a server for entertaining. Although I am a minimalist at heart, I have a weakness for opulent gold mirrors. They remind of the pied-a-terre Marie Antoinette had in Versailles and nothing is more glamorous and luxurious than that. These pink chairs are heavier than those pictured, but since it’s all about creating a living space that is welcoming, these chairs want you to curl up with a glass of wine and a book. We’re in the midst of peony season right now but come July it’ll seem like a distant memory. I invested in a faux peony bouquet and not only does it last all year but it adds that ladylike touch like no other piece in my office. If you’re going to opt for the mint walls, I would recommend taking the leap and selecting pale yellow drapes to frame the space and balance the mint and pink. I think each of these simple pieces can help you design your own pied-a-terre at home.

Thank you for the breakdown and explanation of good design as to what works with these colors combined with the symmetry. The walls are an off beat color which really sings with the color of the chairs, gold mirror and gold curtains. Timely info to help with a project in my home. Appreciate it and will check out your blog!

Thank you!
