Acrylic (aka Lucite) is clearly one of the chicest décor accents for the home, but the hefty price tag that comes with it is not so fabulous on the pocket book. If you’re like me, you’ve looked at pin after pin of Lucite decorated abodes, but your dreams of bringing it home come to a screeching halt after seeing the price tag. Fortunately, there are acrylic décor items that are fabulous without costing a fortune.
If you’re looking to make a big statement with acrylic in your home, your best investment is in a coffee table. While most will set you back about $1,000, this one from CB2 is under $300 and can work in a variety of spaces whether you’re a minimalist, modernist, or traditionalist. This acrylic lamp is probably my favorite find in this group as it has the most versatility and you can even double up on a pair for under $35! If you tire of the white on clear look with this lamp, you can swap out the shade for a colorful or textured drum shade and give it new life. You can also use it to glam up your bedside tables or your entry way.
If you’re on an extra tight budget or just enjoy the simple things in life, opt for the acrylic wine glass set that you can use for parties or after-work drinks on the patio. For the consummate hostess and organizer, an acrylic tray does double duty and will go a long way. From serving drinks to keeping your remote controls in order, a tray keeps the messier things in line without much effort. You can also use the tray to dress up an old console or coffee table. Just add a couple of books, small vase of flowers, and a candle and you’ve got yourself a Pinterest-worthy set up.
