Decorate by Number: Contemporary & Glamorous Dining Room

glam dining room

In my Decorate My Number series, I show you how to take inspiration from high-fashion spaces and recreate them on a budget using affordable decor items. Today, we're recreating a glam dining room for less! Also check out my blog, A Vintage Splendor, for more decor ideas and tips.

At first glance, Catherine Kwong’s designed dining room is a feast for the eyes with the variety in patterns, textures and pop of chartreuse. After delving into the design, it’s rather a simple mix with custom details like the dark blue walls and luxe fabrics.
There are two ways to bring this contemporary and glamorous look to your dining room and I think the switch up is in the chairs. This week, I’m giving you even more options to customize glamorous based on your aesthetic and budget. The chartreuse dining chairs are a nod to Hollywood Regency glam and bring together the entire room. If you prefer a pop of color and streamlined modern, then these stackable yellow chairs do the trick. They still lend the room to a contemporary feel, but with a little bit of fun flair.

If you dream of living in a Jonathan Adler showroom, then these Happy Chic dining chairs will take you there for a quarter of the cost. Although these are in the same blue hue of the rest of the pieces, the chairs will help you achieve that luxe look without the price tag.

If you opt for the Regency look and chairs, then swap out the navy, black and white drapes with a yellow abstract to keep the room looking fresh. Another element that adds a luxurious detail is the crystal trimmings; the chandelier duo livens and lightens up the space in more ways than one. Nothing says glamorous like crystal chandeliers do and this particular one will allow you to splurge on luxe, and not squander your budget.
