Spring Trend 2008: The Fringe Sandal

Fringe Benefits: Looks from the Etro Spring 2008 runway

Free-spirited fringe sandals made a splash on the Etro Spring '08 runways, and now we're seeing this hot shoe trend everywhere. Fringe naturally lends itself to all the bohemian inspired looks and ethnic prints that are so popular this season (two trends I hope will stick around), but this tassel-trim can also look modern, urban and funky when paired with something like a leather jacket and bold floral skirt (see above). If you like the look, then you'll love our affordable fringe sandal finds below...

While I do love both the boho and ethnic trends, I don't think this trend transfers well into the "real world." The only footwear I might consider would be the Michael Kors sandals with an unembellished shift dress. Unfortunately, I'm not Mischa Barton or Blake Lively's Serena van der Woodsen character, and while I'm sure both of them could rock this trend with ease, I think my husband would look at me like I was crazy. Plus, it reminds me a little of old biker chicks with leathery skin or those awkward hippie kids in college that always dyed their hair purple and smelled like weed. Perhaps the trend would be easier to pull off in the form of a bag with understated fringe detailing or a cute pair of earrings!

The Kors sandals are my favorite because I always feel more adventurous when I dress up. Your point is taken, however. I think the fringe would work really well on a purse, I'll have to search for some!

i love your site and the fringed shoes you applied but all of the shoes are no longer sold. Do you have more of the fringed shoes that are still being sold.
