In this weekly column, I'm sharing high-style, low-cost tips and finds for your home. This week, it's all about creating the perfect guest bedroom without breaking the bank. Visit my blog A Vintage Splendor for more inspiration.
You know that feeling when you check in at a hotel room and you’re automatically transported into a blissful state of mind? We all love it. It’s the same type of ambience I try to create at home for guests; creating a guest bedroom that is a retreat not just another room. Here are my favorite guest room essentials when it comes to planning a welcoming room for guests.
A luggage rack provides a place to put a suitcase that is easily accessible, plus it folds up for easy storage when not in use. It may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but your guest will appreciate it.
Create a sitting area with a comfortable chair, reading light and small accent table for your guest to enjoy reading a book or cuddle up with a blanket and cup of coffee. I also love to add fresh flowers (you can even opt for silk flowers) to brighten up the room.
Other important items for your guest room are fresh linens and cozy towels. I love to spritz them with hypo-allergenic lavender spray to give sheets and towels a light and fresh scent.
Along with clean towels, I place a basket in the room with toiletries such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, lotion, and other essentials. Finally, I like to have a local visitor’s guide handy for my guest so they can explore and get to know LA during their down time.
