Don't get me wrong - I'm not ready for summer to end just yet. But these hot, hazy days of August always take me back to my childhood and those final few free days of summer vacation when my parents would take me to pick out clothes for the new school year. The annual ritual continued at home where I'd spend hours deciding exactly what to wear on that all-important first day. I had a new wardrobe, and in many ways, fall fashion rung in the new year more than any resolution set in January ever did. So let's get excited for fall all over again, starting with my favorites: Boots, scarves and soft sweaters!
Beautiful boots:
Boots are as much a part of fall as pumpkin lattes are. There are so many different styles to fit to your personality, so start from the bottom and choose your favorite pair of boots. Choose a basic pair of jeans so that your boots shine through (eliminate any major bunching). Then pair the outfit up with a basic t-shirt and a warm cover-up. Look for patterns and colors to match with your boots. Finish the look off with a neutral shoulder bag, perfect for packing away a jacket.

Scarves, scarves, scarves:
Scarves are another favorite for the fall season. Once again, you want to make the scarf the spark of the outfit. Find a fun pattern to spice things up! Then make the scarf shine by adding lots of neutrals, but not too much of the same tone. Try dark pants, with a tan jacket, and a light shirt. Then go with woodsy wedges. You’ll look like you belong with the changing colors!

Soft sweaters:
Sweaters are also key when dressing for fall. No matter your favorite warm top, choose something dark yet fun to go along with the cooler temperatures. Then, to keep the look from seeming dreary, pair the top with a light skirt. Top off the look with geometric shaped flats and a matching organic-like clutch.
