The Marimekko for Target Lookbook Is Here: Your Thoughts?

Marimekko for Target lookbook
In case you missed it, the Marimekko for Target lookbook came out yesterday - here are some highlight images. Per the press release, "Inspired by the idea of creating an eternal summer, Marimekko for Target includes more than 200 pieces with most items under $50, that bring people together and encourages them to play. Spanning indoor/outdoor décor, furniture, entertaining essentials and apparel and accessories for women and girls, Marimekko for Target will be available at all Target stores and on Target.com beginning April 17."

I wouldn't say you'll either love it or hate it - more like love or be indifferent towards. It's print centric so your opinion will be up to personal taste, but I'm partial to the Appelsiini. I don't see the poppy print 'Unikko' included. I will try to score some home decor items. I'll actually use those. I still have some Peter Pilotto for Target with tags on hanging in my closet. #whatwasithinking. My advice: Don't buy it unless you'd buy it on a regular day from a no name brand.

I'm not loving it, honestly, and I always want to love these so much. If any of the serving pieces are ceramic (instead of melamine), I might pick up some of those, and maybe one of the poofs. I wish they had a duvet as part of the home collection.

As for the clothes. the only pieces that seam wearable is the swimwear ... except for the "swim leggings." What is a swim legging? I have no clue.

P.S. I also have Peter Pilotto hanging in my closet with the tags on :-)

I like some of the pieces, especially the swimsuit coverups.

LOVE MARIMEKKO! So excited about this collection. Definitely plan on picking up a good chunk of what's available.

I agree completely. Not much is crave-worthy. I was so looking forward to at least a few unikko items- I guess I can understand if they don't want to include it in their budget collabs, but then don't expect a wild, Missoni-like reception :/

I love Marimekko but I don't love anything in this collection. I'm surprised. I looked at the entire lookbook on Target's website and didn't find a single item I want to buy. Actually, there is one item I want to buy (the black and white sandals) but it isn't part of the collection. I love prints and color, but this collection is a miss for me.

I have to say, I'm not loving this one...not a fan of the colors or prints, and really the designs of the clothes in general just don't speak to me.

The swimwear is adorable. Everything else? Not so much.

I'm planning on travelling from Toronto (ie. Canada) to the US to purchase some of my favourite pieces but am considering ordering online since some stuff I want is online only (even though we get charged an insane amount of duty fees to import). Do you have any advice for shopping the collection online? Do they usually become available right at midnight?

Thanks!

Re: shopping online tips for Clio: I snagged my Lilly for Target goods by watching Twitter and the hashtags the evening before the rollout. People were posting direct (backdoor) links to the products that you could order from before the whole collection went live. And buy multiple sizes if needed because the sizing varies from collection to collection.

This is the best advice I've heard! There's no set time for the launch. If you're not already a Target Red Card holder you might want to sign up so you get extra time for returns and free shipping for online purchases. Also check out as you go, don't assume things in your cart will be reserved!
