Ask BB: Herve Leger Bandage Dress for Less

Do you know where I can find a budget version of the Hervé Léger bandage dress that's so hot right now? I've seen a lot of tight-fitting dresses out there, but none that have that distinct bandage look. Let me know, thanks!!

Hervé Léger is credited with introducing the form-fitting bandage dress to the fashion world, and his iconic creations have been a favorite among celebrities. We recently spotted Rachel Bilson rocking this look (above left), so your question comes at a good time...but why is it that whenever you're looking for something, you can't find it anywhere?!?

Yes, this look is tough to imitate on a dime, but as The Budget Babe, it is my duty to find you designer looks for less, so I gave it my best shot and managed to find a few frocks that might fit the bill:

Rachel Pally makes a "bandage" type dress for summer, that's now on sale @ shopbop.com. It's striped, but has the same silhouette and concept.

I also saw similar versions of this dress at Macy's last year in the holiday/prom dresses for under $80. And Bingkee is right, not for every body type.

If I see another bandana/ribbon dress, I tell ya. The celebrities have worn this dress into the ground!! I would love to see this particular dress retired!

I guess this is more of a casual option but I bought this at Forever 21. Its technically ribbed and listed as a tunic, but the quality is amazing and it has that bandage look. I'm 5'4" and it works for me as a dress.

I'll admit you have to be on the thinner or firmer side, but if you get this kind of dress in a thick or structured fabric it can be very forgiving and sexy.

I just got mine from Forever 21. I love it. It is amazingly comfortable and looks just like the Hervé Léger one. I feel like a total movie star in it.

I have a bandage dress by "Say What?" (a Kohl's brand, I think) that looks REALLY LEGIT. I bought it at TJ Maxx too, so it was only 10 dollars. I think I almost cried when I saw it.

Try Bebe.com but nothing can actually be a Herve Leger unless it's a Herve Leger. You can find the read deal on sale - at times - at www.theoutnet.com. It's less money than retail, but it's an authentic Herve Leger. Every now and then they put out a few that was left from their sister site, Net-a-Porter.com. You can also check LastCall.com which is a Neimun Marcus clearance center, and I believe Saks has one as well. I know the Outnet has the best prices whenever they get them in. But hurry, the second you see it buy it because someone else will. For example, there is one I love (but the wrong size) there for $498. It sells online at Saks and NM for $995. If they have your size at the Outnet and you can afford buying it onsale, go for it. Hope that helps.

I've also saw a few go for less at eBay but make sure you get a genuine one and not a copy. I like originals. Also you can try eBay for those bandages dress from Bebe if they are all sold out at Bebe. They offer bandage dresses at Bebe every now and then. I like those the best for knockoffs, but there's nothing like the real deal. So save up and go to the Outnet or Neiman Marcus' Last call or Off Saks Fifth Ave clearance centers in addition to their online clearance sites.
