This is exactly the dress I was referring to in my previous comment on your previous post about Nina Garcia's comment on PR. Her dress is short and shiny, though not tight---but still looks cheap as she said, "short, and shiny is the easy way to cheap".
This dress is not flattering on her...she looks like she's trying too hard to compete with the look of a 20 year old (as Clinton Kelly would say, "Only the 20 year old wins because she is 20 years old). Nina is a 40 -something woman and most women her age should never wear short and shiny clothes (unless she doesn't look like 40). That dress is horrible even with the belt--which doesn't even cinch or accentuate her waist. I think that's a shift dress that she tries to make it accentuate her waist by tying that belt. Most shift dresses are not to be belted , that's why they're called shift. That dress still looks bulky. Budget Babe---your suggestion of that purple dress is more stylish and should be chosen by Nina. What in the world was she thinking with her outfit and to imagine she's the big boss of the high fashion mag, Elle.
nina's choice is too young looking for her. we call it 'mutton dressed as lamb.' so what if she's skinny enough for it to fit her? BB's choice, the purple dress, is much more attractive.
well done BB.
loving those wedges, they look comfy and totally appeal to my love of gladiators!
Maybe it's because I'm not far behind Nina in age (gawd, 5 more years), but sans the embellishments, I like her outfit.
I do have to agree with Maggie that I like the Old Navy dress better. This issue just proves that fashion, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
Well, I'm 44 and I do have a "issue" with the length, if it was closer to her knees or just above her knees that wouldn't be too bad. Plus her legs don't look good enough to "rock" something like that. I think there is saggy skins around her knee caps. She ain't holding up to well, if she really is 40. I thought she was older. As the rest of the poster commented, this is not a good look for her at all. She should have pass this one up no matter how tempting it was.
You're right. I'm 40 too. That is why I'm careful in choosing clothes that are above my knees. And you're right...something on her knees gave her age away. So when I heard about her comment, I wanted to retch as if she's the most authoritative person to be believe when it comes to fashion.
P.S. I really don't get it. I really don't understand why a high-profile woman in the fashion design industry would ever wear that dress that way. A shift dress with that ugly fringe that she tried to make look sexy on her by putting on a belt. The belt just made it look bulkier than it actually is. Your choice --the purple dress is way much better and worn as it is. This photo first appeared on another site and the title asks like "Nina answers your questions about fashion"......what an irony.
I also still remember about her comment during project runaway about shining, tight and short... Actually even the dress is not tight, she doesnt look cheap, but rather look like old lady wearing or borrowing her daughter's dress.
saggy skin around the knee caps! ha ha ha too funny. sounds like she's a shar-pei.
