Shop Barbara Brand Clothing Review

Shop Barbara

I was recently invited to review ShopBarbara brand clothing, the newly launched, self-named line from ShopBarbara, a contemporary women's fashion and lingerie store with four retail locations in Miami plus their online shop. Ever-eager to explore the latest cheap-n-chic fashion frontiers, I clicked on over to their site... and was instantly pleased with what I saw.

Right off the bat, I noticed a huge selection of maxi-dresses (I counted over 35 styles), all at reasonable prices (under $100). To gauge the quality in real life, I opted for a long, black tank dress ($48, above right). It looked feminine, elegant and effortless--something I figured I could wear for years, and could dress up or down.

I continued browsing and noticed that ShopBarbara basically covers all the "essential" trends in a way that's generally tasteful and fashion-y yet accessible. A lot of their stuff looks like popular contemporary designer brands you'd find at Revolve Clothing or Pink Mascara, but at a fraction of the designer prices.

Next, I found what looked like the perfect wrap cardigan--something I'd been hunting for forever--for just $36. FYI, browsing the site is easy and straightforward. I'm not really a fan of the models they use, but at least all the pictures are clear and they provide multiple angles so you can really see what you're buying. Ordering was a breeze and my items were promptly shipped to me within 3 days.

Both the maxi dress and the shawl lived up to my expectations. First, the fit of both items was spot-on; the fabrics drape beautifully (thin, super-soft, some stretch), and they're easy to pack. I took both items on my Bermuda cruise and they were perfect. I wore the maxi for "formal" night (dressed it up with gold bangles, long gold beads, and heels), and I carried the shawl with me everywhere as a coverup. The shawl looked fab over strapless dresses, tees and jeans or shorts--you name it. And it was small and light enough to just toss in my tote during the day (weather can change on a dime when you're on a cruise or on the island.)

All in all, I was really happy with my purchases from ShopBarbara and I'll definitely keep them in mind when I'm looking for affordable yet chic looks. I've already got my eye on this woven shoulder bag ($52), this chainlink-print dress with an embellished neckline ($59), this dip-dye tank top with crotchet detail ($9.99), and these black skinny leg pants ($36). I noticed they also have great sale prices. It would be nice to see them add more handbags and possibly even shoes to their repertoire, but so far, so good!
