I've never done that before, but if I ever did (or do) I don't think I'd feel too too guilty about it. I wonder if the employees do such things.

Well, I certainly can't speak for all the retail employees in the world, but I work at a major department store and I would never do it.

Haha, no. I have brought things home, worn them around the house for a few hours with the tags on (just so I can really get a feel for them), and if I feel uncomfortable, I return it.

I try never to do that, and I know pretty quickly something will have to go back. If I deciding whether to keep it or not I have worn it for an hour or 2 but and brought it back, but it still looks store new - just like its been tried on thats all.

Wow. I am surprised by the results so far. I guess is that the framing of the question suggests intent to buy and return, which is 'dishonest.'

I take tags off of everything before I wear them. But, if I wear something and I am not happy with it, I take it back without the tag for a full refund. And, I refuse to shop in places with restrictive return policies.

i did it once..received pans as a gift - loved them- wore them to work and hated them by the end of the day- fit was unflattering they needed too much alteration. i took them back.

the second time i bought a suit for an expo i was in. i wore it with a blouse underneath and i decided i hated the suit. i returned it as well.

im not proud of this at all...but for the price i paid for these items, i just could not let that money go to waste because it looked good in the dressing room.

never worn something with the tags on - that's tacky. but i have returned things i have worn, primarily because they had some defect. i don't think there's anything wrong in that because if you pay x amount of dollars for an item you expect it to be in the condition you bought it in when you wear it. if the seam goes or the hem is uneven, the store can send it back to the manufacturer and get a refund or some other compensation. more difficult with small boutiques which buy outright. but i only shop in places that do NOT give you the 3rd degree when you return. life is stressful enough without being treated like a criminal for returning something once(do you hear me, famous footwear and j. crew?).
