Fringe Fashion and The Trench

Oddly enough, today's post was inspired by Fringe, that new J.J. Abrams show on Fox where special agents investigate a mysterious sequence of unexplained phenomena (aka really weird sh*t). It's not as jaw-dropping as, say, Lost, but it's definitely entertaining. And anytime there's a badass female lead, I take notice. (Plus Joshua Jackson's in it, how can you not love that?) Anna Torv, who plays FBI Agent Olivia Dunham is, of course, as good-looking as she is talented. She's smart, fearless and determined, and has a clean, classic style to match. In the last episode, the clever folks in wardrobe styled her in a crisp white button-down shirt, black pants, black boots and a lightweight black trench. It's a look that's sophisticated, polished, professional and chic...for crime-fighting FBI agents and everyday budget babes alike.

Here are a few reasonably priced options, but I'd recommend buying the best quality trench you can afford because it will be a beloved wardrobe staple for years to come. Nothing "fringe" about this fashion!

Ok, ok, I'll admit it - I am an old lady - I love the polished look of the Talbots trench the best but I love the color on the Antonio Melani.

I am actually recycling 2 Old Navy trench coats I've had since 2001 - one red; one khaki simply because they no longer fit!

This summer I bought a trench coat from Laredoute website which is now selling for $35. It is very comfortable and stylish great for the rainy days. It is by Laura Clement and it is called a long parka.

All great picks! I tried on my first Burberry, a vintage, this weekend and finally understood why the celebs pony up. My $12 consignment London Fog trench didn't hold a candle to this materpiece.

The Guinevere Trench Coat does nothign for me. Infact, since I do not have a tall shapely figure anymore, I would be concerned that the bottom of it might make my but look big. LOL!

I really like the Kenneth Cole Trench. It looks like something that could double as both a coat and a dress...an attribute that my husband would certainly find appealing.
