Felix Rey for Target: Love It or Leave It?

Felix Ray for Target Handbag Collection

The Felix Rey for Target handbag collection hit stores March 29, bringing a "colorful, beach-inspired vibe" from handbag designers Lily Band and Sulaika Zarrouk. The collection consists of straw, canvas or nylon totes, clutches and beach bags featuring sea life motifs such as fish, coral and shells, which range in price from $19.99 to $49.99. I think this collection is too cute for words, and I'll probably pick up the large fish tote. It's big and roomy and well-made, perfect for toting summer essentials to the beach. The Felix Rey for Target collection will be available at select Target stores nationwide and on Target.com through June 14, 2009. Did this line meet your expectations?

I recently bought the tote bag with the navy patent trim and I love it! I get so many compliments from people thinking it's a designer bag. The quality is awesome, definitely recommended!

i was in target yesterday and saw the bags. i was even going to write you about them.! agree that they are well made, especially the fish tote with the sorta braided handles. it's very cute but wasn't it $40? that's kind of high for tar-zhay!
:-)

I say leave it. I saw them in person and didn't love them. The gold trim and sequins looked cheap to me.

Not sure that I'll actually buy one (trying so hard to keep spending down, especially as spring is emerging), but I do think they're adorable. I guess I'll just have to go to Target soon to check them out! :-)

I ordered the beige canvas clutch/shoulder bag with large shell clasp. It was cute, but the shell was really too big, and the bag lacked structure so it sagged when i put stuff in it. Not great. I also ordered the beige canvas totee with orange coral pattern; the gold braided handles are too big for the hand and not long enough for the shoulder. So I returned both items, because they have to function as well as be just fun on the rack. Nice try.... Rebecca

It's lighter than I expected (duh, it's straw BB!) which makes it feel cheap-ish but if you carry it and make it look heavier than it is (sneaky right) than it totally looks expensive.

I'd check eBay, you might get lucky. This collection sold out in 2009.
