Off the Rack: Essential Black Boots at Payless

American Eagle Paisley Tall Boot, $44.99

I popped into Payless earlier this week to check out the boot offerings, and found two pairs that fit me perfectly. I told myself I'd only buy leather boots this year but I keep thinking about these boots. Both looked great and fit like a glove, which is rare. They fit well in the arch, ample toe room, not too high of a heel, and I could tuck my straight leg jeans into the knee-highs. The ankle boots would only work with tights, leggings or skinny jeans, which makes them less versatile. The knee-highs would look hot with skirts, sweater dresses or over tight jeans. Love that the zipper is on the outside and adds a little edge. Not too much. I'm not a biker, in case you couldn't tell. Should I go back for these? Anyone else buy boots at Payless this season?

American Eagle Paige Bootie, $37.99

They're cute. I say go BOGO! Just make sure you walk around the store in them A LOT before you make your final decision.

I bought 3 pair of boots from Target this season and thought the catwalk I did up and back down the aisle was enough. Not! I wore one of them yesterday (for only 1 hour) and my arches were killing me. :-(

I say go for it! I mean, why not? You can never have enough boots, and if something happens to those it won't be a huge deal since they weren't too expensive. It's HARD finding nice boots in a cheap price range, so grab 'em while you can!

I like the tall ones. And if you are looking for a flat option check these out: http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.aspx?pf_id=37687

I thought you were featuring these Avon boots until I scrolled down and saw the heel!

If you are interested you can order through my site, www.youravon.com/elizabethrosas, or get your friends from Avon to send you a demo :-)

Bought two pairs last weekend after searching Burlingon (two stores), Marshall's and Shoe Carnival. Tried on the AE shorties w/ buckle and they are cute, but decided on the Fiore ruffle ankle bootie in black and some flat black boots to wear to and from my car on work days. The parking lot it too treacherous for heels.

I love those! I need to feature them...I have black, flat riding boots from the Nine West outlet that are still going strong, so that's why I've been looking for a heeled boot but something that's still comfortable since I do a lot of walking. Thanks for sharing.

Tried thee on in store a few weeks ago and need the extended calf so I'm ordering online.

Here's a 15% off coupon to soften the blow...it's good online/instore.

Go back go back! My only word of caution would be to be sure that the quality of the boots is good.

I very picky when it comes to boots. There is so much "leather" to look at, I am wary of them looking cheap. If I can swing it, I much prefer to buy quality boots on sale at the end of the season. I do have a pair of Payless black suede booties from a couple of seasons ago that I wear constantly and they still look great and are very comfortable. In my experience, Payless's "suede" looks and wears better than Target's "suede."

I have bought a few pairs at Payless, and did last season too. I've always had good luck and the shoes hold up very well. I like in upstate New York, so my boots endure the weather and so far I have had no complaints or problems!

I'd go for 'em - they're both darling, and if the fit is good and they're comfy, why not? I landed a pair of the A+O wedge booties from Payless, which I adore!

I tried on those American Eagle boots at Payless over a week ago. They're fabulous! Stylish, yet practical with a thick, lower heel. GET 'EM!

ha! I was stuck between choosing those same two pair... my darling boyfriend was in tow so unfortunately had to pick one of the two pair to avoid "the dissapointed look" that I get when he sees me going crazy while shopping. I opted for the tall boots (more versatile!) and wear them to work everyday since the heel is thicker and they last really well through the subways and city streets (my boot heels always get worn down to the nub within a month!) Love Love LOVE them- even my boyfriend is proud of my decision (tho he has a recent obsession with booties!)! GET THE TALL ONES!!!

I bought the booties last week and love them. You're right about the heel height; it's perfect. I'm wearing them today, actually. You should definitely get them!

It would be great if Payless could do a half leather and half PVC boots. Like make the leg portion of the boots and the top toe section out of real leather and then the rest out of PVC. I think it would make their boots look better and I think women would be willing to pay like a extra $10 or $15 more if they used that technique, for a better crafted boot. I do like styles of the ones you posted though.

I worked at Payless and I highly recommend the two boots that you like. By far, this brand AE lasts a lot longer than others. If you are worried that they won't last, buy the rain and stain guard at the store also. If you spray that on once a month, your shoes will last awhile.

Personally, I'd pick the tall boots over the shorter ones. If you wait awhile, the shorter boots will definitely go on sale, while the taller ones always remain close to the same price. Plus, the tall ones you will be able to use for years down the road.

American Eagle Paige Bootie - LOVE IT! I saw it a few times at Payless over a couple of months ago and was thinking to myself, maybe I'll wait until they're discounted on this already pretty decent priced ankle booties... anyway, I waited too long for them that when I went back to purchase these shoes at my local Payless - they sold out of EVERY size of these. Luckily the cashier at Payless told me where I could go to purchase these boots in my size. There was only one Payless left that had only ONE pair of these boots in my size. So instead of waiting, I snatched them right up at the full price. It's not even available on the Payless website. However folks on Ebay are selling them for $20 more. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! They are very comfortable for walking and they make my calves look skinny when I wear them with black tights and cowel neck sweater dress. I'm wearing them right now too!
