fryes boot

What's the big fuss over Fryes boots?

The Frye Company goes wayyy back. We're talking a century and a half! They are the oldest shoe company in the U.S., designing and producing stylish kicks since 1863.

During the Civil War times, Fryes boots were a must-have for Union and Confederate soldiers. Frye boots remained a popular brand throughout the Spanish-American War through WWII. Even former Commander-in-Chief Teddy Roosevelt wore Fryes boots! They might not be popular amongst soliders these days, but they are undoubtedly a celeb must. Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston are all Frye enthusiasts.

From the 1960s and on, the Frye company created a devoted following for the quality and versatility of their boots. When making an wardrobe investment, quality and versatility are extremely important characteristics, especially with boots. Boots must be able to endure weather and wear while complementing your outfit.

Frye boots satisfy needs for everybody. Styles range from Campus, to Western to Work. What more could you want? The Harness or Engineer Boot (originally created to protect bikers from the heat of exhaust pipes), can be partnered up with skinny jeans or a cute mini. Versatility? Absolutely!

How would you wear them? Which style suits you? Because if you win this giveaway, you'll receive a $100 Shopbop.com instant gift card so you can start shopping right away for your favorite pair of Fryes. What's a better addition to a fall wardrobe? By commenting on this post, you are one step closer to winning! Tell us which pair of Frye boots is your favorite and how you’d wear them. The most creative comment wins!

Comments must be posted by Thursday, November 12th at 12 noon EST to be eligible to win. Winner will be announced on Friday, November 13th. Good luck!

I've never seen Frye boots in person, but I've heard so much about them, and all good things too.

My mom told me all about her Frye boots that she saved up for and bought right before she went to Woodstock! She went to Woodstock the day before it started and stayed for the entire duration. It sounded like an amazing time... And she experienced it all in her Frye boots. Makes me want a pair!!

All of their styles are gorgeous... I think my favorite pair is the Frye Frankie Buckle Boots. I can just imagine all the outfits I could wear them with... if only I could afford them!

Skinny jeans, tights with skirts and dresses, leggings and tunics, and so much more!

I would buy the Bethany Strappy Softie! Not only are they gorgeous, but they must have been made for ME since we share the same name!

I would wear those boots with EVERYTHING! SKirts, jeans, dresses, maybe even my pjs! Love them.

Plus, I can make my dad proud! He is a Civil War reenactor (so cute) and what better way to support him than wearing some "authentic" civil war boots!!!!
#2 Bethany Courville (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 11:49
I love, love, love the Melissa button boots. I'd totally wear them with skinny jeans and a classic white button down for that preppy riding look.
#3 Jo from Canada on 2009-11-02 12:11
Definitely would have to be the Melissa lace-up riding boot. Gorgeous!! That $100 gift card would go a long way to making them mine.

I would wear them with jeans, oversized cable knit sweater and my new own pendant necklace. Perfect!
#4 Brandy (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 12:38
I've got a pair of Engineers already and they are a winter staple ... but sometimes I wish they were just a wee bit taller. I would just love to have a pair of Veronica Slouch boots so that, when I'm slogging through the slush and snow during the long, cold Minnesota winter, I could be comfy, chic ... and DRY!
#5 Sally (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 12:39
Frye 12R Engineers hands down win my heart. They go with dresses, shorts, skirts, jeans, everything. Eternally stylish. I own the Engineers and I can't say enough great things about them. They are the love of my life. I really would love to own their Sandra riding boots too. (DEAR SANTA) I'd pair them with light wash destroyed skinnies and a boyfriend button down. Grab my horse and ride off into the sunset :-) Great giveaway BB.

Ohhh!!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get the Betty Inside Zip boots!!! I would wear the with Skinney dark jeans and sweater!

I've always wanted to get a pair of Fryes!!!!
#7 Rupe on 2009-11-02 12:39
I L-O-V-E the Shirley Riding Boots (okay, and the Matildas...and all of them) -- and oh my gosh I need Frye boots bad! My mom got her first pair when she was my age (22) and STILL wears them (31 years later!). She half blames me for the year she couldn't wear them because she was pregnant with me and her feet were swollen. Frye boots are such a well made classic, and look great with anything from flowy sundresses to jeans -- I think I'd wear the Shirleys with skinny white jeans tucked in and a flowy colbalt blue tunic top...a great outfit for fall, winter, and spring!
#8 ashley on 2009-11-02 12:41
I LOVE the Dorado low boots :-)
#9 Heather on 2009-11-02 12:46
Being a mom to a two-year old leaves very little time for me to get ready in the morning, but I still want to reflect my personality in the way I dress. The frye engineer boots would work perfectly for a day at the park or a lunch date with the girls. All this going is tough on my shoes, but the frye engineer boots looks like they could go the distance (they probably looks better with age and a little dirt.) I would wear these with a cashmere sweater wrap and leggings on a cold day or a sundress with a jean jacket on a warm day. Can you say "Multi-purpose??" I would be proud to introduce these great looking boots to my wardrobe (and my wardrobe would say THANKS!!)
#10 Heather on 2009-11-02 12:46
I've never owned a pair of Frye boots, but I would LOVE a pair. I follow bloggers who wear them all the time - they are so versatile! If I could afford them (and make a decision!), I would buy the Simone cuffed boots. They would look great with work wear, casual wear, jeans, skirts, slacks, you name it! So maybe if you figure out the price per wear, they would actually be very inexpensive! Let's see if I can justify that with my husband :-)
#11 Tara on 2009-11-02 12:48
I just got a new pair of Frye Harness 15R which I am so excited about! They're tan and made with wonderful leather and so cool to wear with tights or bare legs and a skirt/dress. Next I'm going to get a pair to wear over jeans!
#12 Anu on 2009-11-02 12:50
The thing I love about Frye shoes is that you'll be flipping through a magazine and see these gorgeous shoes that just seem perfect and lo and behold, they're from Frye. I have one pair of Frye shoes, leather wedge heels which I l-o-v-e (almost so much to where I'm afraid of wearing them in public in case they get dirty!)

But I would love to add a pair of boots to my burgeoning collection, particularly the Matilda Tall-Button Boots (navy, please!). I love how they're a throwback to prim-and-proper Victorian times, and they would definitely be a statement piece to any outfit. Slept in? Throw on a well-worn T and stuff some skinny jeans into those boots and you'll look stunning. Or dress them up for a party look, work, etc. That's my kind of boot. If they cost $448, I have to get as much use out of them as possible!

(Another sidenote is that they remind me of Samantha from the American Girl series. I always wanted a pair of her boots that you could buy from the catalog but never did. These are the grown-up, hipped-up version!)
#13 Carmen on 2009-11-02 12:52
I would totally get the Engineer boots. Since it was originally used to protect bikers from the heat of their exhaust pipe I figured these boots would best be worn with something completely the opposite of the biker look. I would wear a short flower printed dress, tights and a bright colorful cardigan. If I'm feeling daring I might swap out the cardigan for a leather jacket and of course rock the look with some attitude :-)
#14 Ashley on 2009-11-02 12:54
I am pretty sure I love them all but my devotion is to the Shirley Riding Boots in black because they would go with everything!!! Skinny gray jeans and a fitted sweater
#15 Meleia on 2009-11-02 13:00
I'm a radio reporter in Vancouver, Canada. For eight months of the year, it rains. Every murder and protest I attend has me stomping through wet conditions.. so a good pair of boots is essential. While my job may seem high profile, I can assure you, the pay is not. (It kills my mom that her secretary's admin assistant makes more than I.)

The Shirley Riding boots in black would work with skinny jeans, with long skirts and dresses - anything to make those damn tv reporters jealous.

Aw hell, I'd get the Mathilda Button tall boots. Not as practical but so so sexy.
#16 Erin (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 13:00
I had a pair of Frye cowboy boots in the 80s that my dad got me. We rode horses every other weekend and they were a must trail riding through the woods and creeks in surrounding counties of where we lived. I wished I still had those boots and my dad. Every time I see Frye cowboy boots, I can't help but think of my dad who passed away 5 years ago.

I haven't had a pair since then but when they started to become popular and in the spot light in the early 2000s, I started looking at them again and was amazed at how pricey they had become.

I do however plan on buying a pair as soon as my son is born in January 2010 but just haven't figured out which style I want... may have to spluge and get the 3 at the top of my want list. LOL
#17 Tammie on 2009-11-02 13:03
Everyone knows Frye boots are all timeless styles and sich high quality that they last forever. What a great (and fashionable) investment! Boots are the ultimate footwear: a comfortable, versatile, trendy, menswear-inspired accessory to ground any look from a sundress to studded jeans.

No longer must women choose between sky-high pumps and flimsy flats, we have boots to keep us warm, dry, and comfortable all year round. Unlike other shoe options for women, "boots were made for walkin' ", so we are no longer slaves to our aching feet. Some critics say Frye boots are not pretty or feminine, but the boot symbolizes the power and strength of women who wear them. Boots are changing what it means to be a woman, replacing fragility with toughness.

The Engineer boot, which you said was designed for motorcyclists, epitomizes this - and especially when worn with a girly miniskirt it's a wonderful mix of the old and new femininity.
#18 Brittany on 2009-11-02 13:04
Oh, Frye... how you would complete me.

If i were lucky enough to buy a pair of Frye boots, I would pick, after much deliberation, the Matilda Button Tall in black. They are one of a kind and completely goregous, not to mention functional.

I would wear my wonderful Matildas with a LBD. It would toughen it up a bit, but still going classy.

Not going out on a date? I would wear them with skinny jeans, a belted cardi with a frilly top. I mean, those buttons need some company!
#19 Alicia (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 13:17
I'm soooo in love with Frye boots! The quality and workmanship of the boots are superb. I've been lusting after the Melissa Button boot for awhile now and I've been searching ALL over the web to find a good deal (dear husband won't let me spend $300 on a pair of boots, even though I'd wear them EVERY SINGLE day and it'd be totally worth it!) and even enlisted the help of some of wonderful bloggers to find a knock-off but so far I haven't been able to come close.

Anyway, I'd get the Melissa Button boot in Fawn (such a gorgeous color) and pair them with a skinnies and a long cardi for now, in the winter I'd pair them with a chunky knit dress and leggings. In the spring, I'd pair them sans leggings with a cute flowy flower print dress. Oh, the possibilities are endless.

I've been dreaming about those boots at night for a couple weeks now, not even joking. I think about the boots ALL the time, just thinking up what I'd pair them with. I've been trying to forget about them (because of the unaffordability) but it's just too hard. This morning when I opened up my Google reader and saw this was the first post that popped up, it definitely did not help, because I went straight to Shopbop and drooled over the boots some more.
#20 kimmie on 2009-11-02 13:28
I love the Veronica Slouch boot! I've been eyeing Frye's for a while but haven't bought any yet. They are so great and versatile! I will definitely put them on my wish list for the holidays. :-)
I would most definitely wear them with skinny jeans, leggings, with bare legs and a casual dress or pretty much anything other than work slacks!
#21 Heather on 2009-11-02 13:31
i have been lusting after a pair of frye's for god knows how long now - maybe since my sophomore year in high school (i'm 26 now).

the styles change every year, but consistently the style that attracts me the most is the flat, riding boot style (the dorado in brown this year) - i think the riding boot style is the most classic, most versatile style of boot anyone can buy. it's versatile with classics such as underneath jeans, updated classics such as skinny jeans tucked in, trendy as in worn with leggings, or roughens up the edges for otherwise too frilly pieces like floral dresses or ruffles. sounds like a simple outfit, but pair a floral above-knee dress with dark tights, medium brown riding boots and a blazer or hoodie, and INSTANT charm and chic (depending on hoodie/blazer).

also, great thing about frye's specifically is due to the construction and type of leather they use, they'll only get better with age and conform to your specific shape as they wear, and wear for a very long number of years (and unlike other more trendy boots, riding boots will literally remain in style year after year after year).

The Curious Case of Matilda Button Tall Boots.

They are stunning in a sexy Suffragist type of way. Because, yes, even a woman who fights for the rights of other women, and minorities, everywhere deserves to feel fabulous.

I have wanted to buy a pair of Banana colored Campus 14L Frye boots for many many years...

I am absolutely intrigued a about the history and the longevity these boots have seemed to obtain over the years. Civil war/WW2 soldiers donned the ever famous Frye boots. And when i think about it, i come to realize we are all fighting for something.
-A solider for his country
-A mother fighting to give her children the best life she can.
-A college student fighting to keep there grades up, money coming in, and social life intact.
-A business owner fighting to keep his/her employee's & not have to let them go in these hard economic times
-A young boy fighting depression
-An artist fighting to sell their work
etc.

At times like this, it seems to me everyone is fighting for something. My generation has come under scrutiny that we have become too materialistic, and have lost the value of the dollar. That we do not understand what it was like for our parents and grandparents walking "15 miles to get to school" not owning a car or having to work long hours for little pay. Well my answer to that is simple. We fight, but our fight has changed. I certainly have not forgotten what struggles my, and your ancestors went through to get us where we are today.

I certainly wont be able to forget when i put on a pair of Frye engineer boots every morning. And i wont let others forget because i wouldn't just be wearing Frye's i'd be wearing (*history*) :-)

She walks into the restaurant with a puckered brow, sits down abd orders a water with a twist of lime. The events of the day whirl around in her head....almost getting in an accident on her way to work, being late for her 8 am meeting, calling her boss by the wrong name, burning the vegetarian lasagna.

Then, out of the corner of her eye she notices a man staring at her. Does she have something on her face? Is her skirt tucked into her leggings? Before she can figure it out, the handsome stranger is coming towards her.

"Hey," he says with a suave grin, "I like your boots."

He wasn't staring at a piece of food on her face or a disheveled skirt. He was staring at her Frye boots (Matilda Button-Tall Boots to be exact).

She turns her head and replies, "Thanks, I got them at Shopbop," flashes her wedding ring, and turns around.

Right then all the mistakes and problems of her day just disappear. She takes comfort in the fact that with all the crazziness going on around her she can always rely on her beautiful boots to turn that puckered brow into a smile.

Trying to figure out which boots I liked the best, I got sucked into the world of shopbop and spent almost a half hour browsing their sale section (which is pretty awesome btw).. I didn't even need to look to know which boots I die for though! lol I LOVE the engineer boot, and have been going crazy to find the Target version since, unfortunately, the Frye boots aren't exactly in my sad little college student budget. They literally would go with everything in my closet and give it that rough, but feminine, bad girl vibe I am really digging right now, and that will NEVER go out of style! They are insanely comfortable! Those boots make any outfit look edgy, effortless and fabulous!

Off Topic: I read this blog religiously, but am always hesitant to comment (lol it takes a pair of Frye boots to get me to come out of my shell) However, for a while I have been wondering what Target you are always shopping at? My family lives in Sarasota and I visit them a lot so I am curious to know what Target always has all this great stuff in stock?! Here in Miami, Targets are more like WalMart, and they never have any of the good stuff! haha Thanks BB.. Keep doing what your doing! :-)

I love all of the Campus boots! Especially the Caroline with the wedge heel! Amazing!
I hope I win, so I can sorta afford them!
#29 Kaci Welch on 2009-11-02 14:15
I'd kick it in the Harness 15R's. The chocolate color looks delectable and the structure will dazzle my Lone Star cowboys and fashionistas alike!
#30 chansen on 2009-11-02 14:22
OMG. I LOVE LOVE the melissa riding boots. they are gorgeous and so versatile. especially with those cute lace ups. put it under jeans and it looks like a cute pair of lace shoes. stuff your jeans in them and it looks ever so sexy and cute! definitely go for the red!
#31 jasmine (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 14:34
Reading the history of the Frye boots is really inspiring. It boggles my mind that these are the same boots that were worn by soldiers through various wars in our past. It's inspiring because these are the soldiers who gave their lives so that we as a generation now could live as we do. What a great legacy. It's not just a boot, it's history and if I could walk a mile in the frye boots that those soldiers wore as they marched to battle it would be a life changing experience. All soldiers especially during these times where American soldiers are giving their lives everyday in the Middle East really inspire me, to live a life with meaning and purpose.

The Frye boots must be of incomparable quality as boots in the past really needed to protect soldier's feet from the elements. I personally love the engineer harness boots. It's rugged, it's everyday, it's perfect for my lifestyle. I'm a mom of boys and hope that one day my boys will grow up to have a sense of passion and loyalty as those soldiers in the past did for their country.
#32 Christine on 2009-11-02 14:42
I would wear the Frankie Buckle boot (in that delicious tan color) with just about everything. From skiiny jeans to skirts to dresses I think these boots are cute, sexy, versatile and everything a girl could ask for in a boot! Whenever I get an image in my head of what shoe I am looking for, I usually discover that Frye has made that exact thing... since the prices are just out of my SAHM budget I would be ELATED to win this giveaway!
#33 Andrea on 2009-11-02 14:43
I would definitely pick the Deborah studded boots and go crazy with an Urban Cowgirl theme! With shoes this snazzy, the outfit should not compete, but complete, the look! I would pair this with skinny jeans (tucked in, of course), a low-key plaid tunic or shirt that MUST have some girlie elements and interesting details - just not enough to detract from the look, and a fabulous cowboy hat. Throw on a glitzy handbag accented with studs, and you'll be ready to ride off into the sunset ready for a stylish night out on the town!
#34 Holly Golightly on 2009-11-02 14:50
My favorite would be the Cindy Slouch Boots. I adore slouchy boots, and I need one in black! I would probably pair them with a tights under a floral dress to play up its bohemian feel.
#35 Jen (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 14:53
I like the Carmen Harness boots, which I would wear every day probably, and hardly get tired of them! That's what I see when I look at them, because that's what I need. I'd probably wear them with a dress and tights or jeans. Love the versatility!
#36 Izalika on 2009-11-02 15:15
I've been dreaming of Frye boots for I don't know how long. I love their long history, and can't wait to have some of my own that I can tell my daughter about!

I'd get the Deborahs in grey, and I'd wear them with skinny jeans, a slouchy tee and cute drapey cardigan. Or with leggings and a jersey dress....or with shorts and a fitted tee....sigh!
#37 Sarah on 2009-11-02 15:34
OMG. I heart Frye boots!

I would wear the Dorado Riding boots with an over-sized poncho and skinny jeans...perfect for the fall weather!
#38 J on 2009-11-02 15:38
I'm torn between two, but if I have to choose one...
The Shirley riding boot. I'm not really a rugged-wear sort of girl, so I really love this boot for it's classic, clean look - I'd play this up in an English countryside sort of way! Dark purple velvet blazer, a high ruffled collar J. Crew blouse, slim pants tucked into these gorgeous boots. Top it all off with a high ponytail and big smile - I'm ready to go!
#39 Wendy Roberts on 2009-11-02 15:39
I would live in the brown Victoria Slouch Boot. Well, not literally—unless I ordered a really, really big pair of them. In which case, I would consider it because have you seen how gorgeous and comfortable and cozy-looking those boots are? If I was forced to use the boots as footwear rather than a residence, I'd wear them with jeans and t-shirts and cardigans and whatnot.

Aside from being totally versatile for daily use, the Veronicas look like they are props from the life I aspire to have. In other words, they look like they belong to a relaxed but stylish lady who probably lives on a horse ranch.
#40 Erin @ Fierce Beagle (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 15:51
Living in a city where it's all about the cowboy boot, the flashier, the more studs, the more glitz and glamor the better...so hands down - the Deborah studded is my absolute fav.
#41 TexNYQueen on 2009-11-02 15:58
My favorite Frye boots are the brown polished Veronica Slouch boots (in an 8!!). I've been looking for the perfect boot for over a year--I wanted brown leather with two buckles, a rounded toe, and that was almost knee-high.

I found a pair that would do in the meantime (they were essentially Veronica knockoffs), but they're made out of fake leather and were poor quality so they've started falling apart on me. I've tried on the Veronicas in person twice, marveling at their beauty and perfect fit, but haven't been able to afford them because I'm a poor college student!!

I've heard wonders about Frye boots and their quality/longevity, and would love to own some of my own!
#42 Lisa on 2009-11-02 16:16
OMG! I love, love, love Frye boots!!! The Matilda Button boots are to die for! Shopbop only shows them in Navy or Black but they come in this delicious gray that I have been dying to get my feet in! They are classic and would go with everything!!
#43 Marisa L on 2009-11-02 16:28
The Paige Loop Pull On Boots! My boyfriend is a self-proclaimed cowboy (although he lives on the East Coast and attends law school) and we're planning on moving to Idaho when he's done with school. (and getting married, but that's another post for another time) These boots will be the perfect start to my "western" wardrobe, but will fit in just fine in the meantime even though I live in Chicago and the only cowboys we can find here are...well...hmm....we don't really have any!
#44 Cher (Homepage) on 2009-11-02 16:34
My favorite is the Paige Loop Pull On Boots in Plum. I'm a sucker for colors, and there's enough heel to give a little height, but not be scary to walk with on slippery sidewalks. I would wear them with a set of red knee highs and a purple sweater dress, combined with a wide red belt, or necklace.
#45 Elizabeth on 2009-11-02 16:47
I have wanted a pair of Frye boots since I was in high school, 33 years ago!! Guilt from spending so much on myself has prevented me from fulfilling my wish all these years - kids need piano lessons, house needs maintenance, husband needs new golf clubs, etc, etc. I DESERVE a pair of Frye boots! I covet the Melissa button style. So classic with that little bit of bling - I will wear them everyday with my jeans and make them the finishing touch to my Mom-on-the-go uniform!
#46 Lisa on 2009-11-02 16:56
(*I would LOVE a pair of the Shirley Riding Boots!*) They are the most versatile boot, in my opinion. Can be work to work with tights and a skirt or dress or even skinny cords but can also be worn on the weekends with skinny jeans or whatever! I think they would basically go with anything! I.need.them. :-)
#47 stacey s. on 2009-11-02 16:58
Ah! I would love to have a pair of frye boots in my closet!! My favorite are the veronica slouch boots for sure!!! I would wear them with anything but most likely leggings, or tucked into jeans with a long sweater or tunic. They would also be adorable with a girly dress!
#48 jessica on 2009-11-02 17:10
I love, love the Matilda Button-Tall Boot. I've actualy been style stalking them. So unusual to find something in such a rich navy blue. I own one pair of Frye boots, that I got 3 years about they are cute low heeled western style. I swear they go with EVERYTHING. Not only that, they are ridiculously comfortable, its like putting on your favorite jeans.
#49 Cyn on 2009-11-02 17:13
three words.....brown harness boot (12R)....or is that considered 4 words??? i just had a baby and these would certainly give my post-pregnancy wardrobe a new life too!!! they just might take the attention off of my little residual belly....and allow me to wear some more forgiving things like skirts (instead of the skinny jeans for now!!) for a fun look! i've loved these boots for a long time....perhaps they could be my "push present"? hahaha!
#50 tara Dolan on 2009-11-02 17:20
I don't have a pair of Frye boots, in fact I don't have a single pair of boots which is a bit of a problem seeing as I live in New England. That doesn't mean however that I don't drool over every pair of buttery brown leather boots I see *purrrr*, it just means that I'm a poor college student.

Halp?
#51 Lauren on 2009-11-02 17:39
As a motorcyclist, I've been wearing good old Frye engineer boots for years. They wear like iron and they are sublimely comfortable. I find it kind of amusing that now they are the height of fashion...but I can definitely use a new pair, as mine have gotten kind of nasty.

I wear my Campus 14L in dark brown so much that they feel almost a part of me! I am sure one day I will try to put shoes on OVER the boots forgetting that I already have boots on...

I've been on a hunt for the perfect boots for so long! Frye's Matilda button boots in black are the ultimate boot -superb quality, a rich history, made out of real leather, stylish and sexy, classy-what more could a girl ask for?
And at that price, all I can do is drool:-)
#54 Serena on 2009-11-02 20:13
Love to try the engineer boots as it is my profession :-)
#55 Seedhasaadha on 2009-11-02 21:33
I love the Deborah studded boots! I've been meaning to add cowboy boots to my wardrobe but I've always been cautious of anything that looks too western. These boots are a great solution to that problem because the studs are so trendy right now - what a great way to combine two fashion genres!

This is how i'd wear the Dorado Low Boots:

I'd SO adore the Matilda boots for my wedding footwear! I love the blue but the red would suit better. Oh wait - THEY could be my something blue!!!

There's just something about Veronica that brings me back again and again. Something unexpected, she's laid back but she knows exactly what she's doing, she knows exactly where she's going. The kind of girl who kicks around in her favorite jeans, but take another look because there's something you missed. Then take another look, because she's the kind of girl who will keep you looking - you'll see something new every time...

I want to be that girl.

Ah Frye boots. The object of my affection. You know you want em bad when you start dreaming about them. You hope and wish that they will go on sale yet you know their quality is worth every penny. This winter I have fallen in love with the Veronica Slouch. The perfect boot.

Pick me :-)

My ode to Simone
Frye boots you could do no wrong,
Especially you Simone,
You’re such a sexy boot
I love your delicate details
I love the way you fold over
I love how strong you stand
Oh simone with a jean or a cardi
you can do no wrong
#61 L.higginbotham on 2009-11-03 02:20
The Matilda (tall-button boot) reminds me of period styles like Victorian. With that in mind I have fallen in love with this pair and can easily imagine myself pairing them with a peasant dress or even a slim black dress with statement jewelry. Either way I must have those boots!
#62 Roxanne on 2009-11-03 02:43
Frye boots are the best thing that's happened since...sliced bread.
Except for your feet.

I love how even the most feminine boots make a woman look edgy and strong.

My favorite pairs hands down are the Shirley Riding Boots. It looks hot over skinny jeans and makes any wrap dress look bold and dangerous. I love pairing Frye boots with dainty, lacy, feminine dresses. It's like eating sashimi with a tall glass of Guinness. It doesn't make sense, but it works.
#63 donna on 2009-11-03 03:35
I love the Cindy Slouch boots in black..cute with tights and a sweater dress!! I also LLLLOOOOVVVVEEEE those Deborah studded boots!! But have no clue what i'd wear them with...they are just sooo cute!
#64 kim on 2009-11-03 06:52
I've been dying for a pair of Frye boots ever since I first set eyes on them in June. In fact, I check out sites that sell them almost daily to see if some miracle has occurred and their price has dropped closer to my availability!

My favorite pair are the Shirley riding boots, they're gorgeous! I can't help but look at them and think Mr. Darcy and Taylor swift bonded and made a pair of boots. I could wear them with a pair of skinny jeans and a blouse, shirt, or sweater for a more relaxed look or a fun skirt or dress for a more fun/T-swift vibe!

No matter how I'd wear them, I know I'd feel like a million bucks doing so. Frye boots are beautiful and would last me years and years, they'd be something I could pass down even (or so I've seen from online comments that they last long enough to do so)!

I don't own a single pair of boots, and my friends and family scoff at my drooling over a pair of $400 dollar boots, help a poor college student out? I've got $300 if you've got $100! :-D
#65 Christine on 2009-11-03 08:34
My favorite pair of Frye boots is definitely the Engineer Boots! I have been OBSESSIVELY trying to get a pair for about a year now. I love the fact that they can be worn year-round with a casual sundress in the summer/spring or with jeans and a cozy sweater in the winter. They are the perfect all-around boots that make any outfit cute.

As a current college student, I have been lusting after a pair of Frye boots but have had a hard time actually getting a pair. My mom also had a pair in the 1970s when she was in college-so she gets the obsession, (but that doesn't mean she is willing to help pay for them!). I also love shopbop.com and spend so much time procrastinating (and drooling) over the just out of reach, but amazing clothing, shoes and accessories. I would LOVE to win this-- please help a college student with a dream of Fryes out! Thank you!!

P.S. LOVEEE The Budget Babe!
#66 Stephanie on 2009-11-03 10:56
I love the Deborah Studded Botties! They are the perfect accent to this lil' cowgirls life. Booties are extremely versitle and stylish! I love the cowgirl country feel with the bling of a Hollywood starlet! I love anything with a little bling and pizzaz to bring up my wardrobe. I would wear these with a cute sundress, skinny jeans, or even a tunic and leggins. They work year round and wouldn't be too hot for sunny southern California!
#67 Kimberly on 2009-11-03 12:20
Matilda Button-Tall Boot in navy for sure! Love, love, love!
#68 Carla on 2009-11-03 12:56
First of all, I'd just like to say that this is the most fantastic giveaway EV.ER. All of Frye's boots are amazing - they're such great quality and so fashionable. I've been wanting to get my hands on a pair of the Shirley Riding Boots or the Billy Vintage Pull On Western Boots for as long as I can remember, I just never had the cash.. wah wahhhh. HOWEVER, after checking out the website, I am BEYOND OBSESSED with the Deborah Studded Boots (or the booties, I don't discriminate). I'm addicted to sparkles and these are just the cutest things I've ever seen! Please please pick me & make my life (er, wardrobe) complete!! :-)

Frye
Matilda Button-Tall Boot

I am torn between which color I would want--I love the richness of the red, but the shade of blue has an unusual sophistication about it that's hard to find, and it’s a shade that would go with any and everything...einee meany miney...BLUE!

These elegant, vertical-enhancing boots could be worn with many things in my Boston-weather wardrobe. I would wear them with anything from a fitted pencil skirt with a peasant blouse and funky (aka hippyesque) belt, to a purple silk semi-mini dress with some complementary-colored plaid tights. And of course, they would look great with tucked in jeans in any denim shade worn with a cashmere v-neck sweater or t-shirt.

The buttons on the side of the boots are a nice touch too--the vintage-y look of them could be complimented in an oh-so-subtle way with vintage earrings or a cameo pin.
#70 arden on 2009-11-03 13:25
I like 'em tall, high-heeled, and buckled down. And if I can't get diamonds on the soles, I'll take gold studs near it.

The no-nonsense brown Frankie Buckle Boots are for me. I'll run this town with them. And then go save some abandoned kittens. Everything you do, do it with style!

I love the harness 8 boots in tan! So classic. I would wear them with jeans and a sweater when it is chilly.

Boots. They can be simplistic, they can be bold. They're that head-turning click on the sidewalk. A good pair of boots are often empowering and uplifting, yet they can offer a sense of comfort.
There is a pair for he soft-eyed poet, or one for the high-powered businesswoman. They appeal to the chic fashionista tucked in every woman.
I am a woman of class with that naughty twinkle in her eyes. I've always loved boots, and the way they whisper a touch of drama into any ensamble.
One pair jumped off the screen the instant I surveyed Frye's selection of boots. The Matilda Button Tall Boot, displayed in that foxy shade of navy. I can't count the ways I would wear this pair, but wearing it with a pair of dark-wash skinny jeans, a classic white tee, a slate gray blazer with its sleeves rolled to the elbows, and a few edgy accessories... I could take on anything in that outfit.
#73 Amie Casady on 2009-11-03 17:06
Frye boots are a classic! I'd go with the Dorado Riding Boots, because they're similar to the Frye boots my mom wore in the 70s when she was winning dressage competitions left and right. :-) I'd most likely wear them with my favorite skinny jeans from Banana Republic (bought on sale!) tucked in and my boyfriend blazer from J. Jill (a birthday present). Thanks!

In the words of Rachel Zoe “I DIE” for the Bethany Cuff Shortie Boots! Being a shortie myself at 5 “2, I need that 3.5 inch stacked heel. What would I wear them with you ask? The real question should be what wouldn’t I wear them with?! For Work: Floral dresses, tights and a leather jacket, with my cute new anthroplogie headband! Watch out! Or for the weekend with skinny jeans a flannel and lets not forget my fedora! Hey I’d even rock them with my PJ’s that’s how much I DIE for them!

I’m really hoping I win this giveaway. If not you never know may turn into “Civil War Times” at my house!!

ps: (note from my feet) Bethany Cuff Shortie Boot :I think we may be soul mates. It was love at first sight. I can’t wait to spend many long hours holding each other, during our long walks on the beach. I promise to always smell pretty for you, if you promise to provide me with comfort and devotion.

Always and forever,

Gina

I would use that gift certificate to continue to save for the Paige tie up burgundy boots for a whopping $400. This would definitely be a splurge item but the pain would be less with the $100 discount at the end of shopping cart page. :-)
#76 Teresa on 2009-11-03 20:14
maybe it is because I just watched Australia, but the rustic boots were really jumping out at me. I already have a pair of cowboy boots, but these:
http://www.shopbop.com/harness-15r-boots-frye/vp/v=1/845524441845667.htm?folderID=2534374302126033&fm=browse-brand-shopbysize-viewall
the Harness 15 R boots are rustic and I think stylish to the sense that they could fit into my wardrobe with jeans, or slacks (or a skirt if I ever wore one). I like the worn look, which pairs easily with something more girly. and the square toe- way more comfortable than shoving your foot into a stiletto.
#77 Justine on 2009-11-03 23:49
Frye boots oh how I love thee! Paige Loop Pull On Boots you are the apple of my eye, the wind beneath my wings, the shoes I wish could fit on my wide calf (le sigh). You would be perfect for those days when I wake up and exclaim, "Fie on you world! May infinite curses rain upon your soul!" whilst the rain pounds on my window. You'll keep my feet and the hems of my dark skinny jeans dry while also shouting to the world that this girl is smart, this girl is stylish, and this girl is ready to kick butt if you get in her way today because these are boots that weren't just made for walking. Although tough on silly boys, they'll also weed out the boys worth going after when worn with a frilly dress or skirt. The frills and lace say sweet and the boots say not fussy. They also say, "Watch out if you're up to any funny business, Mister!" Dog and these boots would be my best friends.
#78 Monica on 2009-11-04 00:59
I absolutely love the Frye boots. I really love the Deborah Studded boots. They are my absolute favorite. I would definitley pair them with either jeans, or even a pretty dress. This would mean a lot to me because i never get to win anything. These boots are awesome as are all of them. I never owned any kind of boots like these and it would give me a new look. I have plenty of stuff in my wardrobe for these boots to complete the look. I seriously feel like i was meant to be with these pair of boots, and when i first saw them it was love at first sight i swear. Hah i dont wanna sound corny but their gorgeous. I would really hope and wish i win this giveaway it will mean so much to me. Thank you.!

Love Always,

Brooke. =]

LOVE Frye boots! It was going to be my big gift for Christmas but now I need new brakes on my car...so my obsession will have to be put on hold-unless I win this of course!!

My favorite is the Melissa Riding Field Boot in the red brown color. I love the lace-up detail-it looks very vintage to me-and it feels as though they are bringing some of the company's history into the design. I can imagine a Colonel or General of some importance strolling down a brick road in these, circa 1901. In lieu of that vision, I would wear tight black pants tucked into the Melissa boot with a military inspired jacket up top. And I would definitely add a scarf for some color. I know this sounds simple but, with Frye boots, simple is all you need. They deserve to be the focal point of the outfit (and they will be if I ever get out of college and start making money!).

Great opportunity-thanks BB!!
#80 Kailee on 2009-11-06 18:17
I'm a college student and own a pair of the Deborah studded boots. While others may spend hundreds on diamond jewelery or luxe handbags for the glamour, but I have all the bling I need with my Deborah boots. Deborah's on the pulse of the current trend: The metallics? check. The earth tones? copper, check! When I rock these with cute dresses I can emulate my favorite singer Taylor Swift and express my love of country music while sparing the world from hearing my off-key belting!

With a tight budget, I once tried the faux-Frye boots at Target, but it just doesn't compare to the real thing. There's no substitutions for real Frye boots.

I LOVE the Frye Dorado Low Boots - riding boots are so in right now & they look like you actually just went riding in them! The distressed look will make your outfit effortlessly chic - I'd wear them with skinny jeans and an oversized sweater in the fall/winter and with cut-off denim shorts and a long, loose asymmetrical tank in the spring/summer. Please pick me - I'm a city girl who needs the country feel of these boots in my wardrobe :-)

I recently became a nanny and the way the job works its like overnight I became a mom. I am trying to find the best way to dress, and still be comfortable, in clothes the kids can still (destroy). Frye boots are the ultimate accessory

I adore the Frankie buckle boots - I would wear them in dark brown with a charcoal black leggings, and an oversized boat neck maroon cable knit sweater for a cute errand day/day trip, and then dress it up for the night with a cute sequin tunic for date night or girls night out!

I would love a chance to dress up my wardrobe in these tough economic times!

Thank you :-)

Dorado Riding Boots. What a classic and necessary wardrobe accessory. (Hey, that rhymes!) Wear them with leggings and a slouchy tunic, or with a dress and a suede/leather jacket for a bohemian look, or just protect your feet from the icky winter weather in any pair of skinny jeans or pants. Seriously, what could you NOT wear them with?

I LOVE Frye boots! I've been stalking them on DSW lately, but DSW doesn't have all of the cute styles that ShopBop features.

My favorite is the Dorado Low Boots. Wearing them would make me feel like Annie Oakley - except instead of prowling around the wild, wild west wowing the general public with my hunting skills, I'd be prowling around the streets of NYC wowing the general public with my incredible fashion sense.
#87 chloe on 2009-11-12 11:29
She names her first child Matilda. She doesn't tell him why. He assumes she just likes the name, maybe it's in homage to the little girl Matilda from those children's books. Is it a secret? Is it not? "Secrets cause cancer," he once joked. She laughs. She holds his hand. Their little girl is tucked between them, falling asleep as her parents coo and whisper extra "I love yous," because saying it often is never saying it too much.

Matilda grows up. She has her troubles, as most children do. There are skinned knees, pigtails tugged, hearts broken and mended once again. She goes through a tomboy phase where it's Daddy! all the time and football in the front yard. And then she grows up some more. She still loves Daddy, still loves football, but when she's 19 she bonds with her mom once again, and she gets to be the tomboy who also gets to be a girly-girl, who gets to wear pretty things not because she wants to impress a boy, but because it makes her feel confident about herself. At 20 her mom gifts her a pair of vintage boots. They are navy blue, knee-high, with buttons that start at the ankle and climb up the curve of her calf. They are worn but soft, cared for and loved. Her mom gives her a hug, tells her to check the inside the boot to make sure that they fit. They're Frye boots, and though she's still learning about fashion she knows this means quality, and though the style of the boot has worn away, she checks the hell to see that it's the same size. "Your size, too?" she asks her mom. They hug, and more is passed from one life to another.
#88 Lynda on 2009-11-12 11:59
WHOOPS! In my rush to make the deadline I somehow typed "hell" in the third to last line instead of "size." Sorry. lol.
