Recently I received a complimentary Gillette Venus Bikini Kit, which includes a Venus Embrace razor, Venus Bikini trimmer and Olay Bikini lotion ($10.79 at major food, drug, mass and specialty retailers). Did I get quote-unquote "bikini confident" with the Venus Bikini Kit, named one of Marie Claire's "25 Products That Will Change Your Life"? Keep reading to find out!
What they say: Venus Bikini offers a three step regimen designed to get any woman bikini-beautiful:
- Trim and maintain with Venus Bikini trimmer
- Comfortably shave all over with Venus Embrace
- Soothe and moisturize with Olay Bikini lotion
What I thought: Without giving TMI, I found the trimmer effective but less so than say, an electric shaver, my preferred method of trimming. Scissors can be scary and less convenient to carry when traveling, so I'll definitely hang on to the trimmer when I'm on the go.
The razor performed like any other disposable razor, excellent for arm pits, legs and cleaning/shaping, but totally insufficient for anything beyond that. I know girls who can do it, and I tried, I really did, but ultimately, I feel shaving can only get you so far, at which point you need to move on to waxing. Sorry if that's TMI, just trying to give you as much information as possible!
What I really liked was the lotion, it was very soothing, lightly scented and I didn't experience any irritation after applying the lotion immediately after shaving.
I probably wouldn't buy the kit again, but I would definitely purchase the lotion. That stuff is awesome. The kit might make a nice gift, say, if you had a beach cottage and you wanted to leave little gift baskets in each of your guest rooms…and your name was Martha Stewart. (Although she probably wouldn't leave bikini kits, more like lemon-verbena bath soaps and French terry slippers.)
How do you get "bikini beautiful"?
Thanks Budget Babe!
