I've been using Avalon Organics Deodorant Spray on and off for a couple weeks now since receiving a free bottle from the company, and I have to say, I love this stuff. Let me preface this commendation by saying, it doesn't really work if you're going to be really active or it's 90 degrees out. You will get stinky. But what Avalon Organics Deodorant Spray does provide is a burst of light, refreshing, cooling liquid on your armpits (3 to 5 squirts per arm) that lingers for a few minutes and then fades, leaving you smelling noticeably fresher for hours without entirely masking your own natural odor, shall we say. And for me, that's not necessarily a bad thing.
For my everyday routine, I don't need NASA-grade deodorants or harsh chemical antiperspirants. All I want is something that keeps me from being a menace to society and to my boyfriend, and Avalon Organics does the job. Also, unlike traditional roll-on deodorants that get really funky if you apply them to anything other than freshly-showered, squeaky clean skin, this spray deodorant can be applied liberally throughout the day to refresh the underarm area. You can even use it on your feet to refresh sweaty soles! Fantastic.
For testing purposes, I sprayed it on freshly shaved skin and it stung just a tiny bit; wait 5 minutes and you'll be fine. I also intentionally sprayed it on a t-shirt and didn't notice any staining, however, I'd be cautious with nice garments and avoid contact just to be on the safe side.
The ingredient list is short and sweet and easy to read: Alcohol, Water, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil. That's it! No parabens, aluminum, propylene glycol, synthetic fragrances or harsh preservatives. 100% Vegetarian ingredients, and no animal testing. The label says it can be used as an all-over body fragrance or room freshener, too! Gotta love that.
A bit more on the scent itself: It smells like the ingredients; the alcohol hits your nose first but then fades, leaving you with a light citrus-lavender scent. If you like natural fragrances (think L'Occitane but not quite as strong) then you'll like this. None of that synthetic perfumy smell whatsoever.
I'll definitely be buying this again. Look for it online or at Whole Foods stores in a variety of scents for around $8.95, 4 fl oz. bottle.
