OneStopPlus.com Spring 2011 Runway Show

On September 15, I attended the OneStopPlus.com Presents Belle Époque: The Spring 2011 Collection runway show at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center. I was super excited to see this show because it was history in the making, the "first-ever plus-size fashion show during New York Fashion Week," according to OneStopPlus.com President Stephanie Sobel! The show did not disappoint, from the beautiful venue to the celebrity guests to the feminine yet strong fashions. The collection was grouped into five themes: Artisan Drape, Aquatica Lace, Etheral Denim, Cargo Femme, and Guilded Shine. I appreciated the use of color, charming embellishments and flattering silhouettes. Part of me couldn't help but notice that the models just looked like gorgeous "average" size girls but compared to the extremely thin models walking the runways elsewhere during fashion week, the contrast was duly noted and I thought OneStopPlus.com did a bang-up job.

I agree, so beautiful. And so feminine. The flow and drape of material- that denim skirt almost looks velvet! And the pretty details-sequins and the chain sleeves- love, love,love. Not too many square boxy shapes, these embrace the curves.

I love all of those looks! My favorite outfit is the first one pictured at the very beginning of the post and my favorite dress is the long one with the chain sleeve detail! LOVE IT!

Gorgeous! The colors are so rich and feminine. Plus, so nice to see real women, not skeletons.

while I enjoy seeing women of all shapes and sizes on the runway, I am a bit incensed by how people disparage models all the time. Real women? you mean the ladies on the runway are men? has it occurred to you that some women are naturally more statuesque? I think we can all agree that the emaciated look is awful but I think we need to remember that the models are people as well. Instead of attacking them, let's write eloquent pleas to see women of every size on the runway to fashion designers. we're all women, we should work together to edify fashion designers and not spend our time denigrating each other.

except for the pink red and orange dress, i dont think any of these flattered the womans bodies. It just made them look bigger. Most plus sized woman don't want to look bigger...
