Old Navy Gets A Makeover

Old Navy is playing catch up with budget fashion powerhouses like H&M, Target and, we would add, Forever 21: Thanks no doubt to Creative Director Todd Oldham, the family-friendly Gap brand is getting a face lift that will include faster turn-around collections and more fashion-forward apparel and accessories.

All we can say is it's about time. We haven't purchased a thing from Old Navy in YEARS (except some gifts for relatives and friends' kids in the under 10 age group). It's not that they're a bad store per se, it's just that they don't offer us anything we can't get at the other aforementioned retailers - they don't offer better style, better quality or better prices. So why bother?

Having said that, we will definitely take the time to check out the new looks (expect an urban safari collection in February, Palm Beach in March, Hawaii surf appeal in May and glitz and glamour come June.) We frugal fashionistas are growing in strength and numbers and we need more options. Fortunately, the market is taking note and evolving to meet our needs.

Here's to the New Navy.

That is definitely a vast improvement, I might actually start shopping there again.

Agreed! I might actually consider going in there again now to check it out! The ads look promising!

oh no you di'n't just diss old navy hardcore. they have the best closeouts of any store i have ever seen, PERIOD.

i just bought a super heavy weave sweater with quality comparable to what you would find in an outdoor specialty store for EIGHT dollars. as an added bonus, i then picked up corduroy pants for SIX dollars.

with just a little imagination and some sweet accessories you can make their stuff look fab. fashion is an attitude, not a label.

make fun of me for shopping there all you want, but i'll be laughing all the way to the bank. ;-)

(damn, bb, you have been inspiring me to comment on your posts all month!)

Ok ok, so maybe we're being a little hard on them... I will agree that I have seen some crazy deals there, and my boyfriend says their guys section is pretty solid- and, if I must add another bonus to old navy- BEST flip flops for cheap, can't be beat, and their bathing suits are pretty and priced just right! Hopefully they won't get rid of these things with the new attitude! :-D

So I remember your post from a while back about their new jeans (the diva, sweetheart... and I forget that last one) but I thought you were nuts about how they didn't fit, I used to pretty much stick to Old Navy denim because they fit me well... but that was years ago. I was in there the other day and I could not believe how cheap the jeans felt and how oddly the fit- ie, way too big waistbands and what not.

I did pick up some of their tank tops and other basics that were on sale... and I was very tempted to get some of that new safari stuff they have, its really cute.
