5 Under $50: Cute Shorts for Spring

Finding the right pair of shorts can almost be as tedious as finding the right pair of jeans, but I'm here to tell you - they're out there! Here are 5 cute pairs I'm considering purchasing this season from stores like LOFT, New York & Co. and Lands' End Canvas, where lengths are a little more generous, the fit is forgiving and the taste level is top-notch.

1. LOFT Tree Blossom Print Shorts (also in navy print), $44.50
Print shorts call attention but can also hide a myriad of imperfections. Besides, look how cute these are!

2. Lands' End Canvas Seersucker Shorts (also in red), $45
Last summer I lived in Lands' End Canvas shorts - bought their girly cargos in every color they had. Looking forward to trying these seersucker beauties this season, so East Coast chic.

3. New York & Co. Sateen Blue Shorts, $32.95
Fashion bloggers like Penny Pincher Fashionista have been showcasing some amazing finds from New York & Co. this spring - I've got to get there on my next trip to the mall! First on my list: Hunting down these brilliant blue shorts that feel dressy and beg to be colorblocked.

4. LOFT Cotton Front Welt Shorts, $39.50
Bright and bold in yellow, these classic shorts also come in coral, blue or neutrals like gray, tan and black. Perfect for everyday, with wedges or flip-flops.

5. New York & Co. Denim Shorts, $36.95
If cut-offs aren't your thing, try a dark wash denim short that will function just like your favorite pair of jeans in the summer months.

I love the shorts you featured. I have "thick" (and very white) legs. Short shorts do not work for me - but these lengths are perfect (and sadly hard to find). Plus canvas/cotton shorts are so much cuter to me than jeans.

I am waaay too old for the super-short shorts favored by my 13 y.o. daughter, so thank you for featuring some styles that I can actually see myself wearing.

@Nichole - I have the exact same problem. Hoping I can find some "womanly" shorts that fit my thighs AND my waist without making me look matronly.
