On Tuesday, July 10, I attended an exclusive Denim Fitting Party hosted by ELLE & Lucky Brand at their NYC Showroom. Joined by some of my favorite style bloggers, I sipped sparkling water and enjoyed some yummy finger foods while previewing the new Lucky Brand Denim collection for Fall 2012.
The event was hosted by the Lucky Brand Design team which included Nico Pyrache, who met with each of us bloggers one-on-one to help us choose the best fit, fabric and wash to suit our body type and personal style. Each blogger was asked to bring in their favorite pair of jeans to use as inspiration for picking our best-fitting Lucky Brand denim. Naturally I had to try on just about every pair - from the Charlie Skinny (perfect for a night out on the town) to the Sienna Tomboy, to the Cate (a low rise that's great for going from day to night).
Nico taught me everything I could possibly ever need to know about denim and showed me what to look for to find the most flattering fit. For example, if you're not sure whether your jeans are too tight, look at the seams along the sides of your thighs - if you can see the threads starting to show, your jeans are probably too tight. Won't make that mistake again LOL.
I ended up going with the Cate Skinny Stack based on everyone's feedback (told me they fit great) and the versatility - I went with a superdark indigo wash and long slim fit that I can wear with flats, heels or tucked into boots. Every blogger in attendance left with her perfect pair of jeans - from boyfriend to bootcut - which goes to show Lucky Brand has cuts and styles for every figure - a veritable "denim democracy" if you will. Last month Stacy London styled me in some Lucky Brand denim for a Westfield Style magazine shoot and I've been a fan of the brand ever since. Love me some Lucky Brand jeans!
